    You need a front mounted snowblower that way you can put the snow where you want it way out from the road with all the drifting you get

      Sometimes as you know it just takes time to punch through. It's a job and it has to be done. The loader is very capable though.

    This one reminds me of when I was a young teenager in Upstate Western New York in the late 60's. Lucky that we had a snowmobile because it was almost two weeks before a huge dozer in conjunction with a big loader were able to break thru on the road that we lived on, ahh found memories of a simpler life.

    That’s awesome living all the way up there. I wish we got snow like that where I’m from in southern New Hampshire. But you might want to invest in a snow throw for the front of that loader that’s a lot of wear and tear. If you’re worried about the dirt road just put 4 inch riser skids on the bottom of the blower to keep it off the ground, then go back and hit it with your plow.

      Thank you for your suggestion and I'd love to have one but don't the budget for it. Remember this is all self-funded. Thanks

    Use a little more hook. You are still carrying it too far down the road.
    Hook almost perpendicular to the shoulder will keep your front wheels on the road while using the forward distance of the loader arms to move the snow off the road bed.
    When you get into the trees take advantage of any openings wider than the bucket to punch out the bulk of the snow.

    Couldn't help myself but to add this comment. Some people say to stop plowing you don't know what you're doing! Those people have obviously never had to plow or bucket a high country road from or in a snow storm. It's not like plowing a parking lot or street. It's an animal all its own.

    If you had a snowblower for your bucket loader, you would be able to blow the snow off like using a forestry mulcher on trees. 3 foot deep snow is no joke, even worse if it is a wind packed drift.

    Time to invest in a V-blade! 😊

    • @almosthomeranch8447
      @almosthomeranch8447  10 месяцев назад

      Yes, except it would take a lot of power and traction to get through very heavy banks.

    • @mselkee

      Well, we ran our brand new V-blade for the first time for 5 hours just yesterday through some pretty wind packed 4 foot drifted roads. . Now I'm wishing the purchase had been made years earlier. It was pretty impressive powering through drifts with our smaller loader (which was unchained at the time). The few times I did loose traction, a quick raise the blade slightly and push, combined with a back up and repush did the job. In the last 20 years we have used a full sized piston bully snow cat, plow trucks, rented dozers , and smaller loaders with straight blades and snow blowers. A blower will eventually get through anything, but man the fuel bill to do it (especially the first opening pass). My feeling based on limited experience suggests a v blade is very effective breaking the pack very quickly to allow an easier push (or snow blow) to where you want it to go. Looking like we get to repeatability tomorrow😅. Good content here!

    You need to buy a used V plow like on the graders then you could push right through it and push it up later

    Looks like a tractor-mounted snowblower would come in handy for sure. I've plowed big snow for years in Alaska. I find it peaceful and relaxing.
    Are you in Washington or...? Topography reminds me of eastern Washington or eastern Oregon.

    • @almosthomeranch8447
      @almosthomeranch8447  10 месяцев назад +1

      Good comment, the blade is a floating design and it's not great for carving so I agree a tractor mounted firm blade would be helpful but with all the rocks in the road you would have to be very careful not to break the mounts or the blade.

      @@almosthomeranch8447 I used snowplow skid shoes until I had a good snow pack on the ground to keep from damaging the plow when hitting rocks.

    How much fuel are you using every day to clear this out?

    • @almosthomeranch8447
      @almosthomeranch8447  9 месяцев назад

      So depends on how many hours I'm out but it's about 10 gallons per machine hour. Not too bad I think.

    Lot of extra time spent. It may no be worth the investment but a commercial blower on a tractor would be 10x quicker. Ask me how i know.

      What he's doing is scary as hell.. It looks to me like a recipe for disaster ,where the snow drifts in over the piles on the left so bad, it will become almost impossible to clean out. I live in rural Saskatchewan.. where anything will cause a snowdrift..! It is only January yet...I sure hope he has a dependable snowmobile..
