Almost Home Ranch
США
Добавлен 11 мар 2018
Family of 8 goes off the grid in the Pacific Northwest. Follow us on our journey as we build our new home and reclaim our lives as a family. Our property is at nearly 4500 feet elevation and we're more than 6 miles away from the nearest utility. We don't claim to know everything as we are learning along the way. Our goal is to be as self-sufficient as possible like the pioneers were. We believe that God has a special plan for our family and perhaps show others the way as well. Come join us as we learn together!
Spring SnowPlow2024
This is from March of 2024 when we kept getting snow. It was a beautiful day for plowing and telling stories. Thanks for joining us!

Why ypu don't use snowblower?
Reminds me of 40ish years ago with a 966xp cat plowing using a v blade and wing through 10 to 15ft drifts having to wing it off. Good times lol
I love watching this. I live in northeast Ohio and my mom’s mom was born and raised in West Virginia and I got lucky to get the love of mountains from her. I said I live in northeast Ohio. I’ve spent my entire life here and we used to get a respectful amount of snow and now we don’t get any these days. I just miss playing and driving in the snow and watching it fall and accumulate and watching this video lets me live vicariously through you!
Me too, live in NE Ohio & miss the snow😢❤
@ people that live in Ashtabula, Lake, and Geauga counties try and say that we still get snow. Lake effect snow does not count and they don’t even get as much snow as they used to either. It’s very depressing.
The machine needs a large car port.
How much elevation drop is there from where you start till you end? The ridge road reminds me a LOT of some of the back roads in Western PA state that I had to travel while delivery container loads of bagged cement to the coal mines, but, thankfully, never in the winter! And a few glimpses downhill of the valley below makes me wish you had another camera out to the side 🙂
I've done contract work with a buddy clearing parking lots and subbed in for road grader and snow plow highway work, nothing like what you're doing, so I now know that I want to stay clear of the heavy duty stuff. Nice experience, but watching your vid I was sure the road was going were you weren't a few times. Guess it's easier when you know the road, huh? I was wondering if you every get ice under that snow and experience sliding DOWN the road - or slipping UP the road? Having run interstate cross country tractor trailers there were a few areas that get you all puckered up - especially when you see fellow drivers out in the cabbage patch! After a few trips over Donner's Pass and into Seattle from the East, I decided to get dispatched to Atlanta and Houston areas in the winter months... just wasn't worth the time chaining up and chaining down across the mountains - or getting held for hours and hours when the pass gets closed to traffic. But, gosh, virgin snowscapes are just gorgeous!
Was that floppy r/ft tire chain a problem ? I wouldn't like to hop out and attempt a repair in those conditions. Wook smart & safe 👍 New Hampshire.
I've been assigned snow plowing this winter for my car dealership, I'm really excited. We bought an older (mid 2000's) Hyundai 780 wheel loader (I believe it's a 780..). Anyways.. I'm super excited! This is my first time operating heavy equipment at this scale. They've already shown me the controls of the machine and taken me for a few test runs around the parking lot, got me familiar with how it operates and moves, etc. Can't wait for the first snowfall! Thanks for the great video :)
Very pretty. I'm riding along. I bet that is fun
He's pushing snow back on to the other side of the road that he just cleared ... LoL Three passes, all toward the downhill side to clear it properly.
What you really need is a big snow blower !!!
Would make a fabulous ski Run😂😂😂😂😂 What altitude did you start and whats the Lowest Altitude oh and distance down hill ???😂😂😂😂😂😂
It's like waking up in the best dream you could imagine 😍
Check the oil before starting!!!
That must be an amazing job. That scenery is gorgeous.
Why are your plows SO NARROW??!! Our residential plows are wider. If your tires don't clear the path of the plow, you need a better set-up
Where an I get one
It's God's country
where is this? I see a "Pete Honnen" decal so Im thinking somewhere in Colorado?
Why don't you blokes put your machines under cover in this shitty weather. Being out there has to be doing damage but there again there cheap where you get them from so I suppose it really doesn't matter how bad you treat your gear.
Wow if it blows in from one side never pile on that side push it to the other side your going to give yourself more problems
Уже скоро у нас навалит снега.
Driving my ford focus last winter to big white was nothing short of scary. Yes, it’s a questionable choice to bring a 2FD car up a mountain, but the sheer amount of slipping I got on certain days was crazy. But who am I kidding, I cant judge of the point of no experience of driving a 3-5 ton snow plow through extreme conditions 24/7. So hats off the employees working there at big white keeping canada’s largest ski resort open throughout the winter season! As a (new) local, I will be returning for the season of 2025.
I love watching this every time you go out. It is relaxing to the max. Thanks.
Ovo liči na Sjenicu i Pešter, predeli skoro pa isti. :D
Was this a snowplow video or a loader operater farting video? Either way it was entertaining 😂
squeaky seat...
Why would you push the drift back when the wind will continue to push it across? Why not flip your blade and finish what the wind started?
So let me answer this question yet again to explain. I appreciate you watching! This is mountain snowplowing so it's a bit different then regular roads. I have a more long-term plan than just the immediate clearing. First off, the road is sloped downhill to the left (windward side) and if I moved it all right then the cut would immediately blow back in and fill the road. Secondly, I build it up (on the downhill) so that I can accumulate enough snow to create a snow fence. What I do is come back with the bucket and push it all back about 50-70' (downhill exposed areas). That usually helps a lot in slowing down the wind (and snow) and it accumulates there instead of in the road. Of course the wind can shift around in a blizzard and all bets are off then. I hope this helps to explain as I've been doing this many years now and I've tried different methods. Thanks again!
Wow.. This is a beautiful place to plow in this gorgeous contry side road., Very cool video here, Thanks for the video.
bizarrely satisfying
NICE VIDEO!
wouldnt a snowblower be better?
Would love to have someone donate one for us to use. :) These are commercial units made for municipalities and they run $100-$200K (if you can find them).
13:00 why don't you drive on the right and push the snow to the right side?
wunderschöne Natur, cooles Video 🙂 konnte Stundenlang zusehen... Abo geht raus ❤
it looks like you only recorded a quarter of your screen. i can't really see what you're doing
despite not seeing what you're doing, following your vocal instructions--it still worked! thank you. and i'm on windows 11, too! still worked!
Honestly with a machine that size and tire chains I'd make the first push with a straight blade, not angled, because you don't have to worry about spillover. I do it all the time with my plow truck. Also, depending on snow depth I angle the plow less to make the swath wider. The more snow the more angle. When I come to a drift I push the snow to the leeward side, piling it up on the windward side just makes the drifts worse over time.
Where is this beautiful place at ? I must move there and bring Caterpillar and help you out....
After writing the configuration to the station, it reboots with the old data, new ones are not written.
Thank you so much !
I’ll take a lot more video of your house build, really enjoy it
My TYT 380 arrived this afternoon and I've been trying to install the drivers... this video has saved me hours & hours. Now working on Win 10 in a VMware VM. Can't thank you enough for posting it. 73
May 8 2024 leadville,co we got 20 inches overnight it was like moving cement.
I use a snow blower.
Which country....
How long is this road?
Hey, time for the sleds, boys!
Very similar to what we have up here in B.C. I plowed snow as a kid on an MF 135 with a blade on the loader attachment. Love looking at the Cascade mountains!
Location and elevation, the sky at night must be incredible.
Easy for you to say because black people didn’t have their own farms back then and the few that did was stripped of them to benefit your people
