    I had no idea that the Bytebeat system was so advanced.
    It reminds me of the Mandachord in Warframe. Except that it is a lot less advanced then the Bytebeat is. But it is fun playing missions with others when they complementing on the tunes I am playing.

      I haven’t played Warframe that much so I don’t know of this Mandachord, do like that they also stimulate players to be creative and make their own stuff!
      Tbh I wished the Bytebeat in NMS was even more advanced. Would love to be able to create more variation in beat without it repeating 4 times for instance.

    Nice, thanks for making this. I make a lot of music with ByteBeat in NMS myself l. I run the NMSFM online radio station that shares ByteBeat music made in the game. I'm always looking for good NMS ByteBeat music, hopefully some new aspiring artists put this tutorial to good use!!!

      @@CookingDoor YT wont let me share urls unfortunately, but if you google NMSFM, youll be able to find it really fast! Lot's of new artists making music out there, quite possible that this tutorial helped with that, so thanks!

      @@VeritasVelez Definitely the case. I figured out how to make a beat with two bytebeats on my own but had no clue how to sync the lights properly or that I could share or how to make the dance club. Gotta try it out asap and I'll share some tracks from Brakidoo

    this video is awesome! i'm currently working on a settlement base, and there's a big bar prebuilt there with a huge empty space that i turned into a dance floor. however, i'm no good at music arrangement, so the bytebeats have been silent so far. hopefully i can make that place poppin' now!

    The reset is if you make a filter sweep in the advance section where you add modulation. So if you have a sweep happening it will continue per section rather than starting over per note.

    You gotta be careful not to hit the randomise or clear button. Especially if you've put a lot of time into a tune.
    Its too bad youre limited to 16 bars

    Sadly this isn't real bytebeat where you enter a one-line formula that is converted into music.

    I am trying to make the pacman tune, but this bytebeat thing is so confusing I have no chance of making that tune or anything that sounds any good, it's way too complicated for me. I wish there was somewhere to share tunes people make.

    It’s kind of lame because you can’t really make an in depth song :( like trying to make “tequila” is not an option because of the varying points when notes are hit.

      1 year later - yeah, if you're a musician who is into programming tunes you won't be impressed by this system. It's made to be somewhere in between an in-game toy & a sequencer. It would be cool if someone made a mod that allowed you to import basic midi patterns.

    This looks like great fun. I don't get why they coopted the bytebeat name though. Bytebeat is quite a specific thing, and taking that name for something different is not a good look IMO. Why couldn't they come up with their own name for this system in No Mans Sky?

    • @BeefDangus
      @BeefDangus 5 месяцев назад

      Bytebeat is a music genre in which audio is generated algorithmically, i.e. by writing a piece of code which creates looping and/or evolving waveforms over a set amount of time, without any further user interaction. The byte is a unit of digital information that most commonly consists of eight bits.
      Same name because it's the same thing.

    • @oldmossystone
      @oldmossystone 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@BeefDangus you need to go and do some reading. Bytebeat was invented/discovered by one coder as part of an investigation into generating music with tiny chunks of code. He invented the technique and gave it the name. It is way more specific than your loose and fuzzy definition.
      It's name comes from the fact that it uses bitwise and arithmetic operations on an integer representation of time, then truncates the result to 8 bits (a byte) before output. Any approach that doesn't do that, and only that, isn't bytebeat. It's in the name.
      It's great that you are loyal to your video game and want to defend it, but maybe you should try to be more open minded. You might learn some really cool stuff. Real bytebeat is amazing, but you'll miss out on that if you think that it's the same thing as this in-game toy.
