Me: Hunting for the perfect planet for 270 hours. Levi: So I played for a half hour before making the video to get used to it! *Is on an amazing looking planet*
So to answer your question about why it was added. A single developer got really obsessed with this idea so they decided to add it into the game. Pretty sure ByteBeat was worked on by just one person on the team.
And now the impossible challenge: Make music in Scrap Mechanic. Edit: You can actually make some cool music in this game. Check out Imagine Dragons: Warriors cover in Scrap Mechanic. The author really did a very good job.
If No Man's Sky had put more effort into music, there would probably LOTS AND LOTS of people making amazing music. But honestly, I'm satisfied with this.
Remember when this was panned to shit then proceeded to make one of the greatest comebacks of all time for no reason? These guys made a huge profit off launch and yet they still update and keep the game going, it’s really cool.
Is the game actually worth playing now and have a decent time span of legitimate playability? This is the first video I've seen on nms since it was released and bombed.
@@cagxplays9602 Yes, it is pretty amazing actually. They have put out like eight major updates since launch (not including this music one) all for free. There's a shit load of stuff to do now, it's epic!
please do more of these! i would love to see more stuff like this from NMS! maybe even do a showcase of some kind of other peoples creations in the game! this has a lot of potential!
you should def check out the background about the music production for the game, there is a ted talk i think about it. when i first got into the game, i fell in love with the sounds, so i went down a rabbit hole trying to figure out how they get the songs to interact with what you are doing in game... its pretty rad
Mathematically speaking, all waveforms can be made up of adding different sine waves together, so if you know what you're doing (and your computer has enough space for it) you can make any waveform in this game
Maybe check out Caustic 3? It has one similiar synth to that in this game, as it's also based on math operations (it's called 8-bit synth). Of course, it also has other machines, including some unusual ones, like Karplus-Strong-based one, an organ synth and even a vocoder... Yeah, that sounded like a sales pitch.... Anyway, as an added challenge, maybe don't use any presets? Because experimenting with synths is quite fun. And... if you've already made a video about it, then... sorry for bothering you? Probably didn't see it. Also, if you're confused about how the pricing of the app works, you can download and use the app for free, but you can neither save nor export your work. To unlock those features, you have to buy the unlock key on the appstore, download it and voila. Or you could just download the freeware PC version, though I went with the mobile one. A DAW in my pocket allowed me to create music more often. Of course, they aren't as feature-rich and flexible as the desktop ones, but I don't think I would be here without a way to play with music anywhere and anytime I felt like doing it... I doubt anyone's going to read this far.................
@@monochrome_soft9472 I got into iPad music making and it actually did the opposite. I spent so much time trying to solve problems and issues that I hardly made any music 😖
Excellent work! I feel much better about my own fumbling around, and your finished work is so pleasing. Glad I'm not the only one who thought the drums were awful XD
This is the only video of yours where I just could follow along. Watching this was hurting my brain, and all of a sudden I was halfway through the video
Oh sick! I didn't think people were still making music on this thing. I've only made a few tracks with it but I feel like this thing has some good potential. They should let us automate parameters like volume and panning for the instruments. Or even a little sound recorder device; run around and start sampling stuff in the wild! 💎
Theres a game coming out on February 14 called dreams, its made by the same people that made little big Planet Would can make music on there. You should make a video on that.
this is one of these things that we didn't think we needed but when you get it you realize the possibilities. this will also be cool later on when people started making popular song on these music maker things.
Omg I cannot believe there is a music device in this game at all, let alone like a DAW holy shit!! Woooooooohoooooooo! My 2 loves are gaming and music so this is really incredible to me 🤩
What about making music in Planet Coaster? It has the worst interface ever for that: you type the time you want your note to be played in seconds and milliseconds, you change the pitch using a scroll-down menu where you can select like -12 to +12, etc. Everything is in TEXT form. But somehow the developers managed to make a pretty decent track with it.
I haven't played NMS for a while but man I gotta try this out. I heard that this was added, but I had no idea it was this good, I thought it was just a sort of gag you could add to your base.
6:56 Wait… is that the Daft Punk - RAM - Get Lucky synthline? I'm so glad you put in more than the 5 minutes of effort that Daft Punk put into their most recent album. So good.
And to top it off, a single external sound device can be added depending on the beat. I been playing No Man 's Sky on PS4 and the only thing I haven't mastered is the ByteBeat.
You should do a video making a beat using the music maker in guitar hero 5! It’s great! It’s like a step sequencer that has tracks for drums, guitar, bass, etc. it would be awesome & hilarious to see!
I am looking desperadely for a tutorial for the advanced waveform synthesizer in no man sky, unfortunately you are so far the only one which could make decent sound with advanced waferoms.
