Really good video! And I think you just solved a reflection problem I've been having ..... I need to add a black card on one side to keep the reflection down on that side. Thanks for going thru the set-up!

Awesome. Always glad to help. Although it sounds like you figured it out yourself!

Hey Todd, i've a question for product photograhpy. I've XT-4 too, and my lenses are xf18-55 and xf80. I'm working on beauty products. XF80 is more tight for that but XF18-55 is less sharper than XF80. Which lens do you recommend for me? XF16-55, XF16-80 or XF35? I think it would be better to focus on zoom lenses.

Oh wow, great question. The 80 would be my go to for beauty products I think. I had the 16-80 and it was very nice. Surprisingly nice actually. I did sell it though and got the 16-55. I did it more to use for events and it is fantastic. If I needed a shorter focal length for product than the 80 I would feel very comfortable with the 16-55. I’d think the 35 or really any prime lens would do well also. The 16-55 isn’t macro but it’s minimum focal distance is not too bad for what that’s worth.

Hello, I'm coming from a ZV-e10, taking hair extension product photos with kit lens. Always had blurring around the edges (from lens). Color accuracy is terrible. White balance is accurate, colors aren't. No PP, or anything that would cause it. Had a chance to borrow an XT20 with XF18-55. Same setup, same settings. Didn't enable RAWs. Colors in the JPEGs look like how things are supposed to look.
Thinking about upgrading to an XT3. Also considering later Sony models, but worried they have colors similar to the ZV-e10. What's your opinion on the direction I should take?

Tough question! I live Fuji and the colors are so good straight out of the camera. I’m not a huge Sony fan but I know a lot of people who are. If you can dial in all the settings and get a well lit properly exposed image then Sony should do well for you. At least I would think. That being said, I really have been happy with Fuji and it’s hard to go wrong there. If you can manage the 16-80 f4 is a fantastic “kit” lens.

@@Todd_Kuhns Thank you for the reply. That "If" in if you can dial all the settings in is a big one. Everything was so much easier when I had 2 color options. Now we added tons of products, and it's like 36 color variations/mixes, which each variation responding different due to subsurface scattering. Still, the Fuji gets things so much better.
Possibly I should move away from the strobes. I think that's also what's making it more difficult to get the exposure right, and getting more predictable results. Possibly take the route of s_log and learn that whole part of everything.
Just upgrading gear is quite scary when inexperienced and not having had a chance to work with other stuff. Let's say I'd buy better glass for the zv-e10, I'd be stuck to Sony aps-c. And if I'd ever go more pro, well... it's not a great upgrade path to use aps-c lenses on FF.
