The ONE Piece of Equipment I Regret Selling!
OK, so I have paused at 15 seconds to answer what that is........ I am going with "what is a Fried Chicken Todd" 🤣But really, I am interested to get your take!
Ha, I appreciate that. Thanks for watching.
I love the use of the tv as background. Nice shoot, thanks.
Thank you!
Years ago I bought a canon ae1 program. I bought it when i first joined the military to document my overseas assignment and shot on it consistently for 3 years. I kept it for years and when I returned stateside I put away in a box. I never developed my own film just sent it out to be processed. Fast forward to 2013 i took an intro to photography class i pulled my camera out of retirement and it worked great. In this class we were taught to process film and i found it to be a pain in the butt. I had a newfound respect for people who processed film for a living. I sold my ae1 program and never shot film since.
Haha. That's a great story. I was getting all nostalgic for your ae1 and then you sold it. Thanks for sharing, made my evening.
Please try french Royer Teleroy 6x9 620 camera
I’ll look into it, thanks.
@@Todd_Kuhns yes the Telerory was france best camera and most expensive 6x9 together with the Telka III another masterpiece with coupled rangefinder and coated Tessar lens 3.5 /95
@@Schlipperschlopper Cool, I'll check it out.
Film is still the best! 😁
Hey, what do you think of some of these stories and the need to make a video like this? Thought about you as I was making it.
@@Todd_Kuhns I'm not surprised by them. When I worked at a photo lab in the 90's human error was the cause of 90% of the failures. I think making a video like this is good content. You need Spartanburg Photo to give you discount code you can pass along to your viewers... I'd order more film and supplies from them if they were about 15% lower. I have ordered a few pieces of used equipment and the service and gear have been great.
no the profoto A10 is king Godox v1 stupid hot shoe brakes all the time i pick up the A10 and omg the best zero missfires hot shoe strong zero issues light quality magical
Fair enough. Profoto makes great gear. Do you feel that it is four times the price better? And I’ve never had a hot shoe issue. My understanding is they no longer make them out of plastic and have fixed that.
thanks for sharing
You-re welcome. They just came out with the V100 round head speedlite so now I'm thinking they may have a replacement for the AD100 on the way. We'll see I guess.
this video is anything but the sigma 105. you talked more about your mic than the lens.
Thanks for the input.
I kinda loved it until the glass was burnt by the flash and it's giving zero power and is full of soot
That’s what happened to your ad100?
@ burning of the front glass apparently happens a lot. Especially because it’s a cheap a** plastic. But today, half a day into a photoshoot it burned so bad it blackened this front element. Just disassembled this piece of sh*t to find out it’s all plastic when it should be glass. At least the element right in front of the flash.
@ yeah, half a day into a photoshoot today the front element was blackened around the area the actual flash is. I disassembled it and turns out the front element is cheap plastic. I’m disappointed beyond belief
@@thegirlwhowasntthere That seems like there was something wrong with that unit. Not the ad100 in general. Mine blew over in the wind and landed on concrete, the battery came out and bounced across the ground and it still works as if nothing happened. I'd return that one and get another. Sorry that happened to you.
@ actually it happens often. Reviews on Adorama and B&H with the same issue. Maybe it’s a hit or miss thing, but still disappointing
Todd, thank you for your interesting video! I’m considering this lens as well, but only for the 40MP X-H2. Was wondering if you think it is sharp enough to handle the higher resolution sensor of the X-H2. Enjoy your awesome Fujifilm X System!
I have owned 5 Fuji lenses now. The 16-80 was as sharp as any of them. When I got it I considered it to be a lens just to get the system going and I would quickly replace it. I was surprised at how great of a lens it is and had zero complaints about it. All that to say, I don't really know if the 40 mp sensor will be too much for it or not. If it is I would think most of the fuji lenses would then struggle. I am not a lens engineer so I can't answer this with any authority but if I upgraded to the xh2 or xt5 I don't think I would hesitate to put the 16-80 on it. Thanks for your question!
Hi Todd...this lens is very good except for video use...when zooming it loses focus...otherwise it is great and has a very good focal range. Greetings from Barcelona (Spain)
When I used this lens for video I didn’t zoom during the shot so I didn’t run into that issue. Thanks for the insight. I appreciate you watching!
Yup, I’m not a wedding photographer, but I agree that any photo should be shot, and edited to stand the test of time. Trendy photoshop filters have ruined many a good photo, in my opinion. Good video.
Thank you! Appreciate your input.
Thank you so much for this great inspiring video. I photographed several weddings myself a few years ago. You did a great job.
Thank you! Appreciate that.
I remember learning a wedding photographer’s role is to tell the story by capturing the place, the people and the emotions of the day. When a photographer interjects his or her own ego by excusing poor technical skills as a style then they have failed. I think I’ve expressed my opinion about how digital has ruined the craft of photography and nothing proves that point than portraiture and wedding photography.
Yes, we’ve talked about this before. Agree with you. Thanks for the comment.
Hi, I bought the v6 last week, primarily to use as a secondary camera at weddings. Sony being my main one, been out testing the v6 but I’m finding it soft, and even though I select raw, when I check the I,ages when I get them to my phone they are jpegs. Thinking of getting rid of it
Interesting. Thanks for the insight. I haven’t had any focus issues with mine. All the best to you.

After watching a few reviews on the AD100 Pro, the size, portability, and even the power put out by these completely sold me. I purchased three, and I absolutely love them! I haven't gotten the modifier kit yet but that's on my list. I have an SMDV Flip 28G Speedbox , that is compact, portable and it sets up in seconds. It also comes with a carry case that measures 25" x 8". The AD100 Pro attaches magnetically with no need for a bulky Bowens mount.
I have yet to get a flip softbox but am very interested in one. Thanks for your insight.
what happened to Courtney ? neither her website nor instagram work anymore ..

Thank You for the update Do you have any non political updates on the hardest hit areas? I was drawn to your channel because it is just straight forward not full of agendas
Thanks for the comment and for watching. I’ve really only talked about our direct neighborhood. I’m happy to share what I know without any agenda. I haven’t been up to western North Carolina which was probably the hardest hit.
@@Todd_Kuhns thank You for replying. It's cold here in southwest Missouri Makes me concerned for those hard hit
@@newatthis50 Its cold here too right now. 20s overnight in SC, Colder up in the Asheville area. I am assuming that this is still true that people up there are living in tents because they don't want to leave their property and haven't been able to rebuild yet. They have it rough in places up there. Thanks for the concern. I've never been through anything like this. So easy to be the big news for a short while then seemingly forgotten. However, those in it are still dealing with things. They tore the first house down in my neighborhood this week that was to badly damaged. I'm guessing there will be at least one more to go.
I feel so bad for everyone affected by Helene. When I was younger and stronger I volunteered in Joplin after the tornado. It was confusing, and terrible. This is much worse. Thank You for letting me vent
I normally really don’t write any comments at all but here it’s worth because you really did a good job with this video! It got recommended to me by ChatGPT haha, otherwise I would never have found it. Maybe you’ll answer me on a question I’m having: What do you think about the difference between V and VI concerning filming since I would also like to do some filming stuff of my trips for example. Is there a huge difference there concerning the quality and the possibility to edit in post? (on a basic hobby level obviuosly, but still with good quality) I’m a little bit concerned that the V may have a quite less good video quality but since I don’t know I'm asking. p.s. a little tipp: Some slight background music would upgrade the video by a lot :) Thanks man! Cheers from Switzerland
Thank you so much for watching and for the comment. I'm thrilled you found me. As for the V and VI when it comes to video. They both do really well. I have to admit, however, that I don't use them for video often. One thing I found is that if the camera is in auto focus mode the lens will make a little noise and my mic picked that up. Easy fix with a remote mic but just so you know. I do think the VI has an advantage because of the IBIS. Not an upgrade I thought was needed for stills but for video I think it is a plus for a little steadier footage. All the best to you!
Finally a video where I can understand the flash principles 🎉I been struggling to know a bit more about flashes 😢and you explained it so well 🎉 thanks for that 😅actually I got the godox V1 before watching this video and then you let us know that one is the one you use and that is great to know is yhe one you use 😮at least you gave me a nice place to start about photography with flash🎉I’ve been photographing a lot and you COB as my main liGHTS, I wanted to learn flash thanks for the head start 😊
Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment! Glad it helped.
what are the setting you use to get this phoot?
I had a Godox AD100 as a main light in the soft box. A Godox V1 as the accent/kicker light. I was at 1/125 @ f8. ISO 160. Thanks for watching and the question.
Appreciate you showing your work flow. Always good to see how others do it. Your white seamless roll is huge (wide). Who do you use as a suplier? Thanks.
The seamless is the 107” width. I get seamless from Spartan Photo Center which is in my town. $80. The issue with seamless cost is shipping it if you can’t go get it. Very pricey.
Get some rest your eyes look horrible

Hello, I collect and use film cameras, develop film. I have to say that I really enjoy watching your video. It's amazing! Thank you for sharing
Thank you for watching! I appreciate your comment.
From what I remember, if your flash hadn’t got that warm tinted lens you’d still have the green-cast. That’s how they improved it (corrected the ad100) from the early ones.
Oh nice, I didn't hear that but it makes sense since I haven't experienced the green tint I've heard about. Thanks

Could please share that softbox and it's tripod links or name ?
The stand the softbox was on is just a c stand with a boom arm. I'll share a link. As for the soft box, its a 85cm Godox october with an egg carton grid. That should be rather easy to find. www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1578530-REG/gvm_c360_turtle_base_c_stand_grip.html
Just because you can buy a lens with a Camera it’s not a Kit lens. All XF lenses are good.
I agree with that, thanks for the comment.
You are absolutely right, the myth that larger sensors collect more light needs to be debunked. However, I believe that your experiment is one of the several situations where the full frame camera does collect more light: On the common part of the image (the part of the image covered by the crop sensor), the two are absolutely identical, which means that on the common part they collect the same amount of light. Since the full frame has a wider angle of view, it certainly collects more light. But anyway, the amount of light that the sensor collects is the amount of light delivered by the lens to the sensor. Perhaps, the more meaningful question is: how to produce similar images with different size sensors?
Ultimately, my point is that the exposure is not changed based on the size of the sensor. Which was the misinformation I was hearing.
I Think the Angry Photographer covered this 7 or 8 years ago and commented on it in his video "Don't see comments anymore about "larger sensors = more light" & other nonsense"
Thanks for watching.
Might wanna drop the images taken in a Dropbox and post on here so we can see. Also (with the risk of sounding dumb) I think when people say “let’s in more light” is when dealing with low light shots, which I personally would have been more interested in. That said, glad you chose the R7 cause it’s a really good camera that everyone ignores cause apsc
Thanks for the comment.
Nothing grinds my gears more than when people say we need to multiply the F-Stop number by the crop factor. No one is doing Depth of Field calculations for portraits. All you are doing is confusing beginners on what crop sensor really is.
I agree. Thanks for watching and for the comment.
I believe some information is still wrong. There will really be no difference in the exposure result if measured per pixel on full frame and crop cameras with the same pixel density. However, as the area of the full frame sensor is larger, it captures more light and thus manages to form a larger image. In your reasoning, if there was a sensor measuring just 1 millimeter it would also capture the same amount of light, the photo would have the same exposure if you did your test. We cannot confuse light capture per pixel and total light capture, the total light captured by the full frame sensor is greater because it has a larger area, but this does not change the exposure result because in the cropped sensor it is as if we were only capturing information of a small area of the full frame sensor. it's the same amount of light per square inch, but the full frame sensor has more square inches.
You still make my point. Exposure doesn’t change based on sensor size.
But in the video you confuse the concepts. At first you ask: Bigger sensor lets in more light? The correct answer is yes, a larger sensor receives more light than a smaller sensor if you use a lens compatible with the sensor size. But this light is spread over a larger area. Think of a glass with a small diameter and another with a large diameter exposed equally to rain. If exposed for the same time, you will have the same height of water in both glasses, but the larger glass will have more water. The exposure per square inch is the same on any sensor (under equal aperture and shutter speed conditions) but a larger sensor captures more light because it has a larger area
Really the term "crop" should have been a clue against that thinking. If you take an image with a full frame camera, and crop it, does it become brighter? All a smaller sensor does is see less of the image. Though I wonder if most people who do believe that are having a "blindingly obvious" reaction, where just knowing "bigger area -> more light" (i.e. apertures) make brighter images? Not considering the larger image sensor is merely receiving that extra light... as larger image area.
Thanks for the comment! Well said.
I think this rumour comes from a misunderstanding of something true. If you use the same lens of the same focal length and aperture on a larger sensor, there is more light on the sensor, but obviously, that light is shared out over a greater area, so it appears no brighter. This is why speed boosters exist: they take that same amount of light and compress it into a smaller area. So in fact this is an advantage which crop sensors can take better advantage of than full frame or larger. It's one of those times where, just because you "know" doesn't necessarily mean you understand.
Thanks for the comment
