She was not just squatting. She was stealing the homeowners water and electricity. On top of that she truned the yard into a filthy garbage dump.
She refused a very generous offer and instead ended up homeless, on the streets. That's the way the cookie crumbles.

That is sad she called that guy. She was screwed. Thank you Flash. Our neighborhood has squatters in a house that has a property management in charge of it. They started having loud parties. Our county in CA, Riverside county has a noise disturbance ordinance which runs 24/7. So since the music was so loud, I could hear it in my house I called non emergency disbatch. Sheriff deputies came shut it down. They told deputies it was high school grad party. However, they did it the next weekend too. I called again. At this point I didn't know it was squatters. I told deputy I was going to find out who the owner was. I went to county records & found out about the property management. I called them. They knew it was being squatted on and had their legal team working on getting them out. So I did see the person outside at the house and talked to them. I let them know that every time they have a party, we the neighbors will be calling the sheriffs on them. I figure they might get tire ofmthe sheriffs coming! So that next weekend it was quiet. I'm not as diplomatic as you Flash. I'm a small gal trained in martial arts, so I do try to be careful. I will not start an argument and not a fighting person, just for defense in case. I just watched this again, and cried the same. 14:47 when she tells you her name, the whole plot changes!!! I was expecting a fight, or you to destroy her few possessions.
Her soft voice was greeted by a "real man of God" who showed compassion and respect. This is the most emotionally (tear jerking) video I've ever seen. I can't explain how seeing this video has changed my attitude & life. Honestly, I've been feeding homeless people now and trying to give back in regard for me being so selfish.

… I know she was going to lose the space due to new ownership of the property. The trailer she lost, b/c of her so-called lawyer. He told her she had squatter rights & can live in someone else’s backyard permanently. The trailer’s a vehicle, that was never built on the property. She allegedly didn’t own it either. So it was a lot simpler for the new owner to have the trailer removed. She had a chance to continue living in it, but elsewhere. She chose to listen to her lawyer instead.

Squatting is illegal in Canada. Even before "adverse possession" was abolished is most provinces, it took 10 years for squatters to gain any legal right to the land, and could be removed by the police up until then. Don't know why the USA is not the same.

I pray that they laws will be changed everywhere.. every state. I see you are trying your best to be fair to all but I guess there are just some people who want it all. There are so many empty houses in every city. Seems like something could be done with these to help people have a place to stay until they get on their feet. I don't know of an easy solution to this squatter situation but I do know it's not fair to the owners to be taken advantage of. Thank you for all you do to try and help the owners to get their homes back... while trying to be kind to the homeless that just have no place to go.
