Except those loans were advertised as being able to get forgiven and the reason that they took those loans was because the government forced business to close. No one forced people to go to college. That is the diffrence between these two loans. If you want to deal with the student loan situation have the colleges issue refunds. The fact that people keep going to these college no matter how much the tuition ballots is the real problem.

How is the paycheck protection program and student loans the same thing? The ppp loans were given by the government BECAUSE THE GOVERNMENT forced businesses to close and had loan forgiveness clauses written into the contract. It was to ensure the workers at those businesses THAT THE GOVERNMENT FORCED TO CLOSE continued to get paid. Student loans are taken out by an individual who supposedly is intelligent enough to know (they did get into "insert name here" university/college) that they have to pay them back. There is nothing in them that suggests that because you can't find a job in your field of study that you don't have to pay it off. Student loans really are a form of gambling, when you bet upfront $50,000 to $100,000 that you will learn enough at a school to get a good job afterwards.

No, those other steps you mentioned will do very little to prevent future student loan burdens. Nice that Pell is being raised, as currently it maxes out at 50% of tuition for some schools and around 30% for most schools. Nor do decreased payments reduce the amount of debt. They just drag the payments out for longer. So if you come from a median income family, graduate from the U of A in education, get a Pell grant, and don't have quite high enough GPA to qualify for a scholarship, you'll need to take out $50-60K in loans. You can reduce this amount if you work, but you still have to be able to finish in 4 years, or you add on another $13K for every extra year you're in school. So you can't work so much that you have to lighten your class load or put yourself in danger dropping classes or of flunking anything. So currently, at 6% interest, you'd pay $666/month for 10 years. You'll end up paying around $20,000 in interest, though the government will pay the interest while you're still in school. OR, if you do it Biden's way, you pay $330/month for 40 years. You'll pay nearly $100,000 in interest over that 40 years! And the loan payment is STILL high enough that you'll struggle to qualify for a home or auto loan! Particularly if you decide to go into education, where you'll start out at $40k a year (or $3333/month). Explain to me how paying $100,000 in interest instead of $20,000 benefits anyone other than the loan company! Now, if you can actually USE the Obama era loan forgiveness for public service, you might be able to eliminate much of that interest. But only if you've paid faithfully and on time for 10 years, and never gave up in disgust on the teaching profession and opted to go manage a local Eeegeee's instead.
Frankly, no student should be allowed to take on educational debt that can't be paid back IN THEIR CHOSEN PROFESSIONS as determined by their major within a VERY finite time span after graduation. And no university that charges more than that should be eligible for federal funds, not for themselves and not for their students. There is absolutely no reason why we shouldn't be able to roll back tuition to the levels they were at in the 90s or before (taking inflation into account). My tuition from then would translate into around $4000/year now. That's doable, and is less than current tuition WITH a Pell grant. $13K annually for a state school and $50K for a private school is just ridiculous. It bars all but the wealthiest, most financially illiterate, or highest GPA students from attending. Do we really want that? University only for students who get 3.75 GPA or better in high school, whose families make $100K or better, or who are willing to take on debt that they won't be able to pay back for 10 years or more--and will prohibit them from buying a house that whole time? Because that's where we're at. No wonder we've got a teacher shortage. No wonder more and more students are opting out of higher education. No wonder the wealth gap is widening every year.
I don't begrudge anyone help with their ball and chain of student debt. I am extremely resentful of the fact that current and future students are getting so little help. Certainly nowhere near $10-$20K. Sure would have been nice if all the current students had gotten that amount as an additional scholarship or grant.

    - on those lines, when is the infrastructure of charging stations going to catch up to demand? Because right now unless you’re in a big city or are lucky enough to park in one of two spots in the mall or have a rich employer, you can’t charge your car unless you’re a homeowner who has the cash to not only purchase an expensive car but also the charging equipment & increased electricity bill. Many renters in LA & the Valley can’t even get a spot to park & have to jockey for places on the street that aren’t metered. We have no way to charge up!

@@josuebalderas2075 Not everyone is physically or mentally suited to a trade. Further more there aren't enough trade jobs to warrant 60% of the population becoming trades people. You may as well say well if you can't afford a university education. Then you should remove your self from the population. 💀⚰🪦

If you're going to name people who had PPP loans forgiven you should also mention that the government forced people to shut down small business while large businesses stayed open and no one is forced to go to college.

Why do people have such difficulty differentiating between PPP loans, which were designed to be forgiven based on certain conditions, and student loans? Plus the PPP loans were given BECAUSE THE GOVERNMENT SHUT BUSINESSES DOWN. There is a pretty massive difference between the two.

California may want to rethink that on-again/off-again comment. Rolling blackouts are already a thing in California and will get worse without some major improvements to their power generation & transmission infrastructure.
