ScrapLife manages to do both, but the parts business is not the focus, their rebuilding is. I think the unexpected challenges of running a parts business will be a steep learning curve, and maybe VTune will have to buy some warehouse space and hire some people. Good luck bro, I will keep watching.
Vin- One of the best investments you can make is a shop tablet/ipad that you can blow up parts diagrams on. As you disassemble tag/label the parts immediately with a part number. It will increase your workflow 10X when listing etc. - This path will make you a very wealthy person if you look at every opportunity to streamline your processes. Go get it, brother! Proud of you.
100%, half the battle is a) knowing what parts you have and b) finding them. Gotta be organized right from the get go. Sure it's fine to take a pic and put it online but then to find it again.
Ben your talents are what brought people to you. You are so skilled at frame work it's a joy to watch. Pulling cars apart is really not interesting or entertaining. I wish you success either way, but I hope you keep on rebuilding!
This is why parts recyclers pick a brand and stick with it, because you have a stock pile of parts to repair a different one. Doors, quarter panels, trunks, airbags, suspension, engine cradles, etc.
I rebuild crashed Yamaha MT07's, just that model, as you say if you specialise you always have the parts on hand. Picked up a bike 4 days ago with crash damage and a blown engine, it will be back on the road mid next week :)
Rebuilds are for sure why 99% of us watch. Hope you reconsider as you do great work that we appreciate and learn from .

The only reason goonzquad have a reputation like they do is because you do their frame work. You are so talented don’t let numbers and figures get you down your an excellent frame body and car builder. You stripped a McLaren and rebuilt it no one else has done that. You should be so proud.
Not being nasty just observing, Vtuned has gained alot of weight, and doing car rebuilds requires a lot of getting up and down and bending over tons. With his life choices maybe salvage is a better option. I loved his content but have since unsubbed.

I actually get tired of watching rebuilds. I enjoyed the shop update videos and I look forward to some part-out videos!
There is more money in the parts than fixing the cars. The only issue is packing up and shipping some of the larger parts.
But the potential for youtube money and sponsorships is way bigger with rebuild content than with parting out content I think

In the long run, you will have tons of parts on shelf waiting to be sold, some may be there for years, and some will never sell. A lot of money will be tied inventory, which will keep growing and eventually you will need to move, if the sales are way >>> than expenses then, it's a good business.

I suspect he will occasionally get his hands on a car that is a prime candidate to rebuild and he will be back at the rebuild game. Maybe just less often.
I would imagine that part sales is a slow process where you slowly, bit by bit, recover your money back hopefully with some profit.
He said just the engine and transmission will pay it all off. The rest he can just cruise into work and box stuff up for a few hours a day.
Some of you all are a little crybabies… He never said he was completely done doing rebuilds. It’s probably kind of nice to take a break from doing the same thing every once in a while to do something else and mix things up. Watch or don’t watch, I’m sure he’ll get along just fine either way.

Goonzquad with the giveaways Now VTuned with Temu I can’t
Im tired of the Giveaways as well. Its not that im upset or jealous at the ones winning, it just feels like every video is about a giveaway and not rebuilding cars.
I first watched Itsjusta6 and loved watching people rebuild and mod cars, ended up finding Goonzquad in the process and looked forward to their videos everyday. Then ItsJusta6 started to branch out and started opening other business which also interested me. After that, he had other people do his repairs and started posting videos of random stuff and then the Giveaway saga began. I tried to bear with it but nah. I stayed subbed but i cant watch another vid. Goonzquad feels like they are on the same track.
Still love them but im tired of the Giveaways. But i totally get being tired of rebuilding cars.
The giveaways make them tons of money. The profit on the merch is ridiculous. They probably make 350k or more each give away.
Gave up with goonzquad months ago. They're no longer doing what interested me which is rebuilding things on a budget. They're more just making videos showing off how much money they have now and scamming people so they can make more with their so called give aways

parting out will be easier and more profitable as long as you have the space and your zoning allows a salvage yard rather than a repair facility
Not sure he is in NY, the paperwork and rubber stamping fee state. He can just ship it all and no one will give a crap if he has OK neighbours.
I love the details in your rebuilds for this reason I suggest you continue with rebuilds then do the parts stuff as some kind of side videos.
LOL at all the people in the comments crying about vTuned making one video about parting cars out. Burnout is a real thing, he's been doing this for a long time, nothing wrong with him experimenting and trying new things. I'm here to support him regardless, it doesn't take away anything, still car content, still learning watching him taking stuff apart.
Really like your rebuilds, but it's up to you as to what makes you happy as far as content. I know you said you're still rebuild cars and that's what I prefer as well as many others on here
I agree some cars are just not worth the time and stress to rebuild I hope you do a breakdown how much you got for parts vs rebuild.
Have you thought about getting a certification or something to rebuild cars for people. Then, you can rebuild cars for people and make it a business.
a certification from porsche or ferrari sounds like a good path to go. there arent many of them and with ben's talent. its definitely a possibility.

I have to admit, mixed emotions on the new direction. I understand it from a financial and hours of work standpoint, it really does make sense. What drew me to this channel was just the amazing work you have done in the past to rebuild some cars that just amazed me. While others who are experts may not have been impressed, the Ford F-150 Tremor frame replacement was just amazing to me. I watched a couple of those videos twice, just because I could not believe all the work that went into it, like building a new truck.
Anyway, your videos are always so positive, and you have such a great attitude, I am sure many of us will stick around because even a dismantling is pretty interesting to me.

A friend of mine used to break cosworth and he told me the money is in the modules , harnesses bits and bobs, sure get your money back on the engine and gearbox but make sure to box and get online all the little stuff it will break into great money , do your research in prices bro.

The Mexican's here in Florida pull parts at budget junkyard all day they make over 100k a year doing it most pull certain parts like air bags etc. They only cost 16 dollars there

You should package up the spare nuts and bolts in a 5lb. pack. Just miscellaneous nuts and bolts for guys garages. I am always looking for spare stuff when working on cars.
