I feel like people are Nintendo fans as much as they are fans of a Nintendo-franchise. This means people listen in general when Nintendo announces something. Other companies might not have these general company-fans, at best fans of 1-2 specific games or series. So when they announce stuff, far fewer people directly listen. They have to pump up marketing to stand out and make non fans aware of this new title. this is stronger with frequent releases (annual franchises) and highly competitive genres. game polish and company image also play a role. Nintendo spend decades now convincing people that their stuff stands out.

Nintendo lives rent free in the minds of both their biggest fans and also their biggest detractors. That is why you have so many fanboys that are begging for any chance to say "That is why I always pirate Nintendo games." or "It is always morally right to pirate Nintendo games." If you dislike the company so much, why even play their games? It just ends up looking like a fanboy that wants to appear edgy or have the moral high ground, virtue signaling, that is the term which comes to mind.
People pirate games because they have no money for a luxury item. And they need to justify it by convincing others to do the same. Basic common sense. Have you ever seen people with money in real life say to their neighbors they steal cable service? Of course not. They can afford it.
There is a benefit to releasing teasers early. Look at Sonic the movie. Fans were right to scrutinise. Nintendo won't always get a hit on their hands and will eventually make a bad design choice.
The Sonic movie relied on an obviously fake trailer (and viral marketing) then "changing" it to get the good will of fans. Paramount knows how toxic the Sonic fandom is. And they proved it with the fake trailer with ugly Sonic. But by giving them something better and "listening" to the fandom, they had a hit. Despite the movie being a formulaic human and critter buddy movie.
I doubt that they would reveal the switch 2 before christmas, it would drive away people from buying a switch and could cost them the "best selling console ever" for the switch
Well, the easiest answer to this is I like many people love Nintendo games, and a new Nintendo console means more of those. It's also a bit of a reset button for revisiting series if they are dormant for a while, like Metroid skipping the N64 but comeback with the gamecube. So switch 2 gives me hope in seeing Star Fox again, even if it's highly unlikely right now.
This is the study: academic.oup.com/jcr/article-abstract/41/5/1301/2962097 It's also precised here: thedecisionlab.com/biases/motivating-uncertainty-effect I first came across it in a book and noted it down... but I can't read my own writing.
My theory is they're just waiting till after christmas, Give Switch 1 one last holiday in the spotlight esp since it margins are much higher. Also I'm sure they have their eyes on the the PS2 at this point, given just how much prestige dethroning it will give them I def see that influencing their decision making (if only for egos sake)
There's a ton of games on the Oled trailer. 01:31 is Metroid Dread, 01:40 is SMB Wonder, 01:51 Zelda TotK, 02:52 Mario & Luigi Brothership, 03:16 Super Mario Party (original), 04:40 BotW, 05:55 Pikmin 4, 07:06 Advance Wars 1+2 Reboot Camp,
but if they wait past january, there'd be literally no games left on the switch and nobody would feel excited for nintendo and if they wait past november, the only game left would be an underwhelming $60 donkey kong port i just dont see nintendo letting all the hype die out like that and the switch having nothing to show before the switch 2 releases tbh
Anyone who bet hard on a September reveal for the Switch 2 is gonna be sweating harder than Niagara Falls tomorrow, as it’ll be the last day to be proven right. Even IF the reveal is October 1st, they bet on September, so they lose.
Tbh i think we'll get the reveal this December, and the console in November/December of next year, this way they have a year to polish the console and let people test it to gather concerns/suggestions and can release it for the holidays
Why do we keeping using "reveal" they said "we will make an announcement, notice the word announcement, about the successor to the switch within the fiscal year" Announcement is vague enough to ultimately mean many things! We currently have 5 months before this window is up
Looks like youre one of only a very few people here who understood what the Nintendo president said months ago. And yes, the key word is "announcement." Basic comprehension had gone down these past few years.
Imagine believing Sony or Microsoft did this. Imagine refusing to believe that they just sometimes have 4 month spans of time that aren't breath of the wild release level. Nintendo makes great games but this is definitely over complicating stuff

Formula for calculating Nintendo's next move:
next_move = (most_logical_move)^-1
Learning negative indices?
*(-1)^n
*(-1)^n
I think you mean
nextMove = (mostLogicalMove)^ √(-1)

I'm still expecting a reveal around october 20th, just like the switch!
I'll just say the switch was first announced in march 2015 and they mentioned that when they announced the switch successor.
