So smart how he gives some more throttle to spin round and end up straight again. Really interesting to see him work the brakes and steering, Of course Max probably isnt the only one who does this but when he does it its so remarkable. Im here after watching Silverstone qualyfication 2022 where he did a 360.
Im wirh you 100% its remaekablw just how quick he reacts and how perfectly he saves it. Im sas this video didnt include his spin in the race at turkey because that spin wouldve been good to compare to his one in silverstone
People say Max was just lucky in 2022 not to have ended up in the barriers from one of his spins... Come on, he has a track record of spinning and not hitting anything. How can you ignore this?
00:27 Max reflexes are crazy, locking the wheel completely, switching grip to keep the control and still having the presence of mind to then use the "wrong" hand to down shift and keep the car running. Dont think thats something they train normally.
@@nakedsnake_ It defenitly comes from his expirience, especially his rain expirience. When he used to kart his dad forced him to drive in the rain whenever it rained. Maybe with a shifter kart he also downshifted when he spun? Thats probably it. Im amazed by his rain quaily today too, kept smashing purple sectors, locked up a bit, did a 360 :). Really showd how much he pushed the car. Sadly couldnt really put it togheter the last lap in S2.
It's interesting to note that a lot of spins he's had happened once or at most twice a season, a really big spacing, and then we come to the 2020 season, where he's had multiple spins in a single year, so many I can't even count, only in austria i remember Max losing his car several times, this really makes it clear how the RB16 had a chronic defect and made it incredibly complicated to drive, it was VERY skittish, and any millimeter error ended up with you losing a lot of time, or in the case of albon, he couldn't even force the car and take his time. That car was very specific, and it amazes me that Max was so competitive with that, pushing that car was a difficult task, and you could see how Max had such control when it came to driving it, impressive indeed.
a timing issue for pierre and alex :( with these cars max liked to run it on its nose. whereas 2021 car was much more neutral, more suited to their style of driving. i hope they both do so well, Red Bull doesn’t know who to replace Checo with after he retires
There was a correlation issue with the RB16, the results collected they had during the making and testings in the wind tunnels were really different than how the car handled once finished. This is why Red Bull and it’s drivers had a hard time understanding their car.
In 2020, most spins are during practice or maybe quali, very few actual spins in the race. Basically he was testing the limits of the car with these spins. Max likes these cars, pointy front end, unstable rear end.
When he gets that he will probably spin, he gives more throttle instead of trying to keep straight line without throttle and that is why he keeps himself inside of the track and spins even faster, but does not get out of the curve. Magic 🙂
Very smart. I dont really see a lot of other drivers giving more throttle when spinning.. Maybe theres some instances but cant really remember. I do remember Vettel Hungary in like 2013 something? But I dont think he used any throttle then.
Apart from things pointed out below, at 1:04 you can hear that there and in the next clip as well he forces spin, 'cause he knows he's fucked up - once the car goes beyond recovery he naturally adds throttle to make it spin faster thus returning to normal racing line better. Many drivers panic but he actually is VERY aware of what is going to happen, not only reacting to the current situation. Incredible talent.

Care to elaborate? I would suspect it has something to do with where the center of mass is and that at a certain stage the front tyres just aren't doing anything but when they grip they'll bite hard so you want them pointing forwards.
@@ferndale6652 Abu Dhabi 2016, Australia 2018, Turkey 2020, you can count Brazil 2016 too. Germany 2019 too, which he still won. I'm a big fan of Max. He spun a few times, but the remarkable thing is he almost always turns it in a 360 and keeps going instead of just slamming the brakes.
