I was a 34 year old man visiting Disney World for the first time in 2016. I proudly have a photo of me hugging Baymax and goofily smiling. I love that big marshmallow.
Not gonna lie, a grown adult visiting Disney World is kinda cringe. But hey, do what makes you happy. And I mean that sincerely. There are stuff I love that some people would probably consider cringe. Maybe this comment was unnecessary, lol. Have a good day.
Fun fact: According to the creator of the original Marvel comic, the reason the setting of Big Hero 6 is called San Fransokyo is because a different version of history meant that after the 1906 San Francisco earthquake, the city was rebuilt by Japanese immigrants and was renamed after becoming abundant in both Japanese and American architecture. For example, the Krei Tech portal lab was in the real-life Angel Island in San Francisco Bay, which in this universe is called Akuma Island.
@The Official "Guardian Units of Nations" Channel Yep. It's loosely based on a Marvel comic, which is why Stan Lee is there. Bonus fact: In Avengers: Age of Ultron, when Tony goes to get the back up JARVIS files, one of the disks he puts to the side is one labelled 'TADASHI', presumably Baymax's program.
This movie is nice to illustrate that notion that depression is not always sadness, it can also be isolation and emptiness. The fear of feeling anything leaves you feeling nothing.
Well, how long did it take The Incredibles to get a sequel? Also, I'd much rather wait until we're out of this current phase of the movie industry being hot garbage.
A detail I love is that the microbots reflect the mental state of the person wearing the transmitter. Notice how when Hiro uses it, the microbots act organized and structured. When Callahan uses them, they’re more monstrous and disorganized.
I'm 23 years old. I remember when this came out. I still cry every time at the final act with Baymax's sacrifice. That's how you know it's a good movie. Shame we don't get that from Disney anymore
I'm 51 and watched it with my niece when she was a little kid. I teared up then, I teared up every time since and now that my father died recently, it hits even harder. I love this movie.
The same story trust worked on everything up til the recent stuff. The kids who get Strange World, and Lightyear, and Luca are worth making movies for.
I'm not ashamed to admit that I sing along at the top of my lungs to "Immortals" every time I watch this movie, lol. Seriously, though, this movie is wonderful, and the sequel series is a great continuation that expands the universe excellently.
I love the symbolism of the programming disk in baymax representing Tadashi's memory living on in Hiro's heart and memories. They even put the access port in the spot over where a heart would be on a human. It's little details like this you don't pick up as a child but really make you appreciate it on a whole other level when you do notice them. Very heartwarming. 💗
Big Hero 6 is such a cool movie, also a cool detail I noticed is the reason why the fail in the first fight with Yokai (Callahans supervillain name) is that they all trained for fighting him alone and never together. Which honestly is a great way to have your obligatory power showcase montage without making it feel like they got nerfed when they lose the first time, also better then the tired cliche of hero infighting.
Baymax is one of my favorite Disney characters ever. He’s just soo darn lovable. When his battery is low, “hairy baby”, my favorite part. He’s awesome. This is one of Disneys most underrated movies, imo. Glad y’all liked it.
Yeah, during the post credit seen when Fred looked at his family picture of himself, his mom, and his dad. Surprisingly he dad showed up about the underwear.
This movie came out of nowhere and blew my mind. I was just entering highschool when this came out and i was terrified of making new friends but this movie legit helped me make friends i still have to this day as a 23 year old. The music, storytelling and characters were 10/10 and I'm itching to read the comics that inspired this film. I love you guys for real. Stay nice Dudes 👌
You're not wrong about watching it over and over. My dad and sister went to see it and dragged me along (I just wasn't interested), but I became obsessed. Once I bought it, I watched it like 4 times day one. I would fall asleep to it. Hell, I had the damn thing memorized. I was working at Amazon at the time and did 12 hour shifts, and half my day was just going over the movie in my head. It's so damn good. And yes, Go Go is the absolute best.
I love this movie. I didn't see it, at all, in theaters, had no interest. But my kids loved it, and I was so enthralled watching it myself. A surprise (to me) superhero team movie that was beyond its station as such. It's a great movie. 22:56 is very Spiderman, but it's also a pretty direct reference/homage to Stargate. It's even got the red lights where the chevrons would be.
Such an underrated movie. When they talk about the best Disney animated films of the last few decades, everyone always forgets this one, but it is just so good! I am satisfied with the quality of my movie reaction.
Oh man I loved this movie. So good. And yea, that sweater vest definitely catches you off-guard. Definitely one of the best Marvel movies, and certainly the most wholesome. Big Hero 6 was a movie that left a lasting impression on me for sure.
Saying its one of the best Marvel Movies is doing it an injustice; its also one of the best Disney movies ever, and one of the best movies to come out in the last decade. There is so many amazing things about this movie I could easily write an essay about it.
This is my absolute favorite Disney movie. The themes of loss and grief and your choice of how you respond to it are so poignant and beautiful, and just so grown up for a Disney movie. It has the perfect amount of action vs comedy vs tears. It’s just the perfect movie for me. When I saw it in theaters with my nieces I bawled lmao. And I’m a 33 year old woman.
this movie 100% makes me cry every single time I see it. It hits differently being a grown adult with no parents and really no friends. Just the idea of a companion that fully cares about you and your well being is very foreign to me.
I have so many requests lol you guys are amazing and I just found your channel a few days ago .... Watched a bunch and still working my way through - keep it up!!! Love your stuff!
Also, notice how the microbots for smooth and organized structures when Hiro controls them, but jagged and disorderly ones when the villain is controlling them. Says a lot about their respective mindsets.
I haven't seen these guys' stuff in a while, glad to see the legends are still making great content. Would love to see you guys react to Batman Forever to complete the quadrilogy as well!
I remember seeing this movie in theaters and being absolutely obsessed with it. Although, because Winter Soldier had come out earlier that year, I spent the second act fulling preparing for a “who the hell is Tadashi” moment to break me 😅
I took my family to watch this in the cinema when it came out. The youngest was about 26...... I regret nothing. One of the greatest movies I ever saw in the cinema. Have since watched it a dozen times, and still love it.....

I missed Big Hero 6 in theaters, but I saw it around the time I was graduating High School. This took a lot of liberties from the original Marvel comic it was based on, but it ended up unironically becoming one of my favorite super hero movies. Also, I still think Go-Go is hot.
It DID get a TV series, you guys should check it out. I think it sadly only lasted two seasons, because Disney sucks these days and we can never have anything nice for long if at all.
Just a few things: 1.: The reason Baymax has a rocket powered fist is a love letter to Japans super robot genre which heavily inspired Baymax armored look. To be specific, it is a callback to "Mazinger Z" - the OG Super robot who inspired the entire genre and whose most iconic attack was his legendary "Rocket Punch". The character on Hiros clock also resembles him a lot, and baymax saying his attack names out loud is also a trope from this series. 2.: While inspired by it the movie, at best, only took names from its comic book counterpart. Both story and character wise it couldn't be farther apart, otherwise we'd have, yes, seriously, the Wolverine villain "Silver Samurai" on the team, who was part of the starting line-up of BH6 in the comics. 3.: BH6 has technically 2 sequels. One is a short lived animated series, the other happens in the Videogame "Kingdom Heart 3", where san Fran-Tokyo is one of the worlds the heroes visit. And, unlike most other Disney world Sora, Donald and Goofy travel to they actually partake in a follow up from the movies story, where Organisation 13 in fact salvaged the damaged body of Baymax left behind in the other dimension and turned that one into Dark baymax to fight BH6 as well as the heroes of KH.
Funnily enough, I always took Baymax's survival in the end via the chip as a sort of allusion to Baymax having done an emergency backup, already having copied his files several times (like you're supposed to do with computers) and his careful nature made sure of it ahead of time.
While I remember liking this movie (a lot), I am still endlessly entertained by the absolute concentrated salt that Schafrillas has for it and its twist villain. ThAt WaS hIs MiStAkE!
@@aaronhenley4741 yeah I remember that. But I'm talking about all the characters from the movie being a hero squad like teen titans( the good one not Go)
The flying scene at 21:30 uses the exact same animation as the flight in the first How to Train Your Dragon movie. Looked it up years ago, apparently its quite common to resue that sort of thing.
One thing about this movie that always kills me is that Callaghan is constantly using his hands as if he's guiding the microbots, but when Hiro first introduces the bots he never does any of that because it's literally controlled by your brain lol.
This was great! I want to see more animated films soon! You guys are amazing and I always look forwards to your videos! Please do more animated films! COLUMBO!! COLUMBO!!!
Fun fact, Big Hero 6 was originally created by Man of Action, the same people who went on to create Ben 10. The original team consisted of Hiro, Baymax, Honey Lemon, and Go-Go, plus the mutants Sunfire and the Silver Samurai, and their first foe was the villain Everwraith, a being formed of the combined spirits of those who died in the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings, who became obsessed with executing another nuclear attack on Japan in the hopes of pushing the country to adapt in the face of the tragedy. They're not around much anymore outside of this movie and its spinoff animated series, but they've shown up several times teaming up with the Canadian superhero team Alpha Flight, as well as Spider-Man.
12:13 when you carefully took a playful jab at your best friend and he just toss the whole salad bowl right there on the floor in front of 31 thousand people...
I saw this movie for the first time the night we buried my friends mother we where in our 20s everyone of his family went out drinking to toast the memory of her but we stayed in and put this on....we had no clue the brother dies and this movie is now a tradition in her memory
Something curious: In Avengers, Tony Stark had in his office a USB with the name Tadashi on it. A reference of this movie and I heard that in the comics Tadashi and Tony are good friends.
