Totally agree! I do feel sorry for Bennett because it is the Cavs fault. He was not even considered as a top pick in that year's mock drafts. Most have Nerlens Noel at number 1 and some have Alex Len. He had the pressure of people expecting more from him at the start.

Well, the 1952 Draft's circumstances are understandable. The league itself was merely six years old and was still trying to establish itself as a proper major effort. It kinda says more about Bennett that his results land closer to the guy who joined the league during its upstart years than his more proper contemporaries.

Let’s be real, there’s no way in hell Giannis and LeBron would play together in Cleveland. He would’ve been traded to a team like Toronto, the team that was most aggressive to make the move for him before Milwaukee, for a second round pick and a role player (like a Jakob Poetl) to help their team. Giannis would either be dominant as all hell in Toronto (as a Raptor fan, I want this to happen so bad), or he’d be a decent starter there. With our development system, he’s probably a superstar.
if somehow someone had a time machine, entered the Cav's war room and selected Giannis he probably wouldn't even have been in the NBA after his rookie year. Giannis felt very isolated and lonely his rookie year because his family was denied access to the USA a few times and without Herb Kohl, ( The Bucks owner at the time,) who was a US senator working tirelessly behind the scenes to get them visas Giannis probably would have gone back to Greece. however, you never know with Giannis as he is extremely resilient and a hard worker.

Nobody, and I mean NOBODY knows how these players will turn out in ANY sport!.... To ever say " How did this team, or that team miss"? Is ridiculous!..... Nobody has a crystal ball for these things!....
I think back then there weren't as many teams in the NBA so there just weren't as many spots available for draft picks to fill up and get a chance to play compared to now.
Bennett just got a raw deal man sad that people are making him the new kwame brown it happens to some players and ruins them some organizations just are not it and if you are mentally not prepared you can be hit pretty hard
The NFL draft used to be the same way back in the day where alot of picks never played.. it's because back them people could make more working some jobs.
I always compare Anthony Bennett to Buster Douglas of the NBA. He did well early pretty much bullying talent that was less than his. Then I would say the KO of his lifetime was being the #1 when most all fans thought it was an awful pick. And once he got to the top, he just became complacent and lazy and didn't know how to deal with adversity in the NBA.
I'm rooting for Markelle Fultz. Watched a fair few games post injuries at Philadelphia and then pre injury on a very weak Magic roster and he looked sharp, stats were solid, and you could see real promise. He comes back and even stays just at that level then yeah, he's not a number 1 pick, but he's a solid 15+ pick maybe. And if he improves then he'd be a decent lottery pick. Just odd 76ers taking him and then treating things how they did: shoulda used that pick to trade for a moderately established PG like a Schroëder level (with other bits heading out too ofc)
11:03 The reason why those draft picks didn't play in 1952 is because those players decided to go into non-basketball careers after College. Keep in mind the NBA was still new at the time and players could earn more money in a normal job with their degrees. For example, Joe Dean played in a semi-pro league called the "National Industrial Basketball League" and played in the Olympics while working at LSU's athletic department. As the NBA became more popular and started paying players more that sort of thing went away.
what’s even weirder is he has the perfect attributes to be the perfect stretch 4 however he came a little too early in the age of the ‘tweener’ not absolving him but that played a big part
I watched UNLV religiously as a season ticket holder from 1993 until 2021. Bennett was hyped up before he came here from HS. The first thing I noticed was that Bennett had serious asthma-like issues the entire time he was here. By choosing UNLV, he competed in places like Wyoming, Fort Collins, Colorado Springs several times per year. He was out of shape, and clearly slow of foot for the Rebels trying to reinvigorate the "running" in their name. He was a man among boys with his work under the basket, but he was suffering from a clear case of respiratory fatigue every game that I watched him. He went number one in the draft, but was doomed to fail before he took to the floor as a pro. The NBA physicality would not suit Bennett's unknown fatigue problems, and he definitely ranks among the 3 greatest busts at no. 1 in NBA history.
Forreal then taking Bennett at 1 was so surprising, like they could have literally drafted giannis and it would have been just about the same thing in terms of drafting a no name who didn’t belong in the lottery😂
Giannis grew like 6 inches since he came into the NBA and he put on a lot more muscle. The guy is a generational talent and no matter who he played with even LeBron and Kyrie would have changed that. However it's highly likely that he would have been traded to Minnesota because LeBron likes veterans and wanted Kevin Love on the Cavs. Giannis was still a raw talent so I think Cleveland would have traded him to make LeBron happy and want to come back. If Cleveland didn't have that first overall pick to trade or was unwilling to trade for Love or another veteran I doubt he would have went back to the Cavs. Amazing to think of the what ifs...
I was one of his biggest fans but I had no clue he would go 1st I thought top 10 at most. He clearly wasn't the guy from that draft cavs were better off going with Alex Len 😂
I love when the teams wind up with their targets after they flop in the NBA. For example. In that Wiggins Parker Embiid draft. I wanted Parker most on Boston. Second Wiggins. Third Embiid. I had it way wrong.
If the Greek Freak would've been drafted by the Cavs he wouldn't have had the same chance to develope like he did with the Bucks in the early part of his career. Jason Kidd needs alot more credit for not "type casting" him and just allowing him to be him
11:09 1952 was right smack in the middle of the Korean War. Not sure if this had any impact on the draft. But I know WW2 messed up sports pretty badly and that was only a few years prior. Wouldn't surprise me if the Korean war messed things up for a while too.
If I were the cavs, I would’ve picked Nerlens Noel. He’s was a dominant defensive player at the time and with Kyrie’s defense, it would have been an even safer choice because of his defense at center. Am I right?
No its not at all. He is currently one of the worst number 1 picks in the last 25 years and I said in the video that unless he's stays injured, he'll easily be way better than Anthony Bennett. But as of now he has had an awful career for a number 1 pick.
@@MikeKorzemba You see, this is where I have to disagree. Markelle is a starting point guard, improves every year, and is still contributing and ascending at just 23. Kelle has his issues but he’s going to end up being a long time starter in the league. His career isn’t going to be the once promised career we expected but he’s far from awful. If you were going to keep your list to 4 players, you could have just included Greg Oden. If you didn’t because of injuries-well the best ability is availability and Markelle also battling injuries. But still playing and still ascending. Orlando was 6-2 before Markelle got injured and picked top 5 because of his absence. So I wouldn’t say awful. Blows my mind that you have Oden over Fultz.

ayyy what's up with those meal plate things he was advertising those look bomb af!!!!!
Waiting for Part 3 What if .🔥🔥🔥
I think back then there weren't as many teams in the NBA so there just weren't as many spots available for draft picks to fill up and get a chance to play compared to now.
Bro I love your channel 👌🏿💯👌🏿💯
Thanks my man!
Point proven you might be good in College,High School or in Europe…BUT the NBA is another beast
Hey Mike! How about if you did a "what if Giannis had been the no 1 pick of the 2013 draft" video?
Bennett just got a raw deal man sad that people are making him the new kwame brown it happens to some players and ruins them some organizations just are not it and if you are mentally not prepared you can be hit pretty hard
Markelle Fultz this season 13, 3, and 5 also shooting 40% from the field, honestly not terrible.
Actually had me for sec with the bodyguard thing 😂
The NFL draft used to be the same way back in the day where alot of picks never played.. it's because back them people could make more working some jobs.
I see a lot of Derrick Williams with this guy he looks to be to smaller than all the sf/pf but did not have a guard skill set to make up for it.
Has there ever been another first pick that got moved every year while he was in the league? The guy didnt play for any team more than a full year.
I’m honestly gonna miss him we never getting bust like him again 💀😭
What about Fultz?
@@MaxAndersonn he was injured not a bust but injured just like Greg Oden
Yeah because he wasn't even supposed to be the #1 pick the Cavs were just smoking
@@MaxAndersonnfultz is still playing though, bennet wasn’t even good enough to make a roster after only 3 years.
00:56 HUGE TYPO... IT SAY “FG%”, not “3 ptFG%”. But you got it right wit da voice over
Forreal then taking Bennett at 1 was so surprising, like they could have literally drafted giannis and it would have been just about the same thing in terms of drafting a no name who didn’t belong in the lottery😂
You could make a what if,about the Cavs picking Giannis instead of Bennett. Like a full on "What if..." video. Please 😁😊
The title is worded like people was expecting giannis to be in the top 5
The fack that the #1 pick has less space besides allí your comercial jajajajajja actually factsssss xD
He hoopin foams gg 😂😂😂
fast forward 8 yrs and he is signing with Hapoel Jerusalem of Israel
JaMarcus Russell comes to mind as a Raiders fan. I think we were finally able to stop paying him a couple years ago.
If the Cavs drafted McLemore at that time with Kyrie, it would be the early version of Sexton and Garland.
Love your videos mike
You Forgot "KWAAA MEEE BROWN" LOL
Legend has it: the monstars stole his powers 😂
You an jxmy are the best bball RUclipsrs currnently
Mike make a "What If Tim Duncan was an one and done" video plssss
Tony Bennett left his heart in San Fransisco.
Anthony Bennett left his game at UNLV.
Jason Kidd needs alot more credit for not "type casting" him and just allowing him to be him
Facts. J Kidd has a lot to do with the development of Greek. Greek was upset once Kidd got fired.
5:03, that plate looked so sad
And I could still never get picked over him in 2K
11:09 1952 was right smack in the middle of the Korean War. Not sure if this had any impact on the draft. But I know WW2 messed up sports pretty badly and that was only a few years prior. Wouldn't surprise me if the Korean war messed things up for a while too.
If I were the cavs, I would’ve picked Nerlens Noel. He’s was a dominant defensive player at the time and with Kyrie’s defense, it would have been an even safer choice because of his defense at center. Am I right?
No. He tore his ACL right before the draft. Too risky.
@@STRDX yeah I remember his draft stock dropping after that
but you are not
@@STRDX yeah true. Didn’t think about that
You can make a what if video for all other 14 teams passing on Giannis honestly
fultz had a shoulder nerve injury and played with Simmons and embid he has a great chance of reaching his potential on the magic
Adding Markelle Fultz on your “worst #1 pick ever” is hella disrespectful
Sometimes personality is greater than talent
Anthony Bennett and Jamarcus Russell should make a step brothers 2 movie together lol
Anthony should have stay in UNLV in the first place.
2013 draft stars:
Giannis Antetokounmpo (15th) ---1 championship
