At least Kwame Brown had the excuse of the pressure of playing next to MJ on the Wizards. Anthony Bennett really had no excuse for being that bad on the Cavs.
Kwame wouldn’t have had lasted longer than Bennett if he was drafted in mid 2010s. Unfortunately the nba in terms of talent had a higher ceiling than back in 2000s
Pointlessly fun fact: 8 years ago I happened to assist a very skilled coach in the new VBA (Vietnamese Basketball Association) I threw out Bennett's name as their one import player. The coach wisely made me buy the next round... and the Danang Dragons went on to win the first championship with an unheard of center.
Victor Oladipo was absolutely worth that pick. He would have been a multi all defensive team guard and if he stayed healthy been a great 2nd to 3rd option for a contender. He had alot of good games for the Heat.
Anthony Bennett is very unique in the fact that even outside of the NBA he’s still REALLY bad, not even most first round pick busts could be THAT ass at the game, let alone a first pick.
If Cleveland not taken Waiters the year before, they probably would have drafted Oladipo. He most likely gets traded to Minnesota for Love, but do they get the top pick the next season to make that move? If they didn't take Waiters, then who? Dame makes no sense since they already have Kyrie. Drummond is probably the move. Quite the scenario.

Hell, there’s even an argument to be made that he’s a better #1 overall than Ben Simmons simply on the basis that his career lasted longer and he was a far less sabotaging teammate.
He's a bust for sure. But I think you have to go number 1 to be considered the biggest draft bust of all time in your sport. Wiseman is still not good but Bennett was even worse going number 1.

JU's Ronnie Murphy was #18 overall to Portland in 87. He hurt his foot in Camp and came back from Rehab about 20 pounds heavier. Career 18 games 36 points 29% shooting & more Turnovers than Assists.
I had the chance to watch him play in 2018 for the Maine Red Claws. He looked like an average G League player out there. You’d have never thought that he was the number 1 overall pick 5 years prior.

@@vise_atoxity8083you just gotta seperate them into different categories. Medical busts like Oden are different from lack of talent busts like Olawakandi
As a Canadian it was great but a curse for him. He really was a solid #10-20 pick at best it put too much pressure and it was the start of the stretch 4 and he was too big for that and too small for a center with no jumper and not a good rebounder so really was not a good pick on the cavs part

@@TheyCallMeSledgeRegardless of accolades, Ben is definitely still a bust. He was called the greatest prospect since LeBron, was listed as the second coming of LeBron AND listed as better than him at everything not related to shooting the ball, and now.. he’s a Net averaging 5 PPG with nothing else to show for it. That’s a bust, in my eyes. Another thing favoring him for the bust title.. He was said to be the final piece in a 76ers championship. Just two years later, his head coach, a championship winning head coach, said he was not good enough to lead a team at ANY position when it came to winning a championship. He isn’t a bust in terms of a failed rookie contract or tenure. He’s a bust in terms of being an absolute failure WITH that talent.
@vise_atoxity8083 I think the definition of what a bust is fluid and changes depending on what a person believes it to be, as well as the expectations of said player. If you consider it to be expectations of a first overall pick, Ayton is a bust compared to his peers. But not all first overall picks pan out. Having said that, I do think if you consider Simmons to be the next coming of Bron, yeah, he's absolutely a bust - but I feel as if those expectations were rather extreme and there were already multiple signs before the draft he wasn't all that. I consider him a disappointment - but unlike many other draft busts, Ben had a career that even average NBA role players would kill for.
OK, I’ll save this. There’s no way he has to be worst draft bust of all time the expectations for him were not nearly as mine as half the other guys they named
Bennett was a shot in the dark in a terrible draft. Cavs had the luxury of taking a chance and obviously it didn’t. He’s not even close to being the biggest bust. He wasn’t #1 pick material to begin with.
We already knew those were gonna be down bad years to begin with. Also with LeBron coming back to Cleveland a year later takes the sting out of the fact the Cavs drafted arguably the worst draft bust of all time.
Odeon was a bust because injuries but you know he would atleast have become an all star if it weren’t for them, Fultz in the same ish category atleast he managed to become a solid role player. But Bennett on the other hand was just straight up trash, no excuses. And with the benefit of hindsight it also wasted any chance of Lebron having another solid role player or a possible star when they challenged the warriors for the title every year.
Antgony bennet wasnt a really a bust he was drafted and came into the league as it was changing he was 6'9 generously but played like a 5 he couldnt move well and was a big body but he was a center in tye league 15 plus years ago if blake griffin came in the league now youd he sayinghe same thing ....
Darko Milcic being selected at 2nd overall by Detroit, OVER Carmello Anthony, is still one of the biggest “What if’s” in Nba History.
I'd love to see an alternate reality where Melo learned to hustle and play defense
The gm that drafted him is just gullible
The Cavs have so many #1 picks in such a short span that it's just one of the many ways you know the NBA is rigged
Bennet was at least pretty decent for the national team for a few years
I
I get mad because I honestly believe that Andrew wiggins should be on the bust list. Sure he's had moment but overall!
Thos ones gonna hurt as a cavs fan
Eh we got k love and a chip outta it so I'm fine with how it turned out
That 2013 season was so fun though man
We already knew those were gonna be down bad years to begin with. Also with LeBron coming back to Cleveland a year later takes the sting out of the fact the Cavs drafted arguably the worst draft bust of all time.
@@thekidfromcleveland3944 Ill never forget the Waiters Hardaway Jr duel in the rising stars challenge
@cavsszn8231 aye Kyries 32 in Toronto for me man. S*** was legendary
Shout out to 😂😂Markelle Fultz
Carmelo and D Wade went after Darko
Isn’t Chet Holmgren an American white big? Lol
I don’t see Kwame as a bust.
Y’all didn’t have to do it to em 😔
They really uncle drew'd us out here
Ben Simmons is the biggest bust in NBA history
Imagine if the Cavs would've taken Giannis
Oh my lord......ouch
Ben Simmons is the worst bust in nba history
His the biggest bust in NBA history worst number #1 pick then Kwame Brown
Anthony Bennett wasnt projected to go top 10 if remember. truly an all-time idiot move
Draft lotteries are the most rigged sh it in pro sports
Top 100 💯
agua caliente clippers legend
Respectfully he’s the worst number one pick in nba history he was bad
Antgony bennet wasnt a really a bust he was drafted and came into the league as it was changing he was 6'9 generously but played like a 5 he couldnt move well and was a big body but he was a center in tye league 15 plus years ago if blake griffin came in the league now youd he sayinghe same thing .... Both players 6'9-6'10 athletic lob threats without a develoed jump shot ... Just becusse you domt produce doesnt mean you cant plat
