This might be crazy but Klay's shooting might not be the best thing about him. It took me a few years to actually get this (mostly cause I'm on the East coast and I had school the next day and basketball practice right after so I couldn't catch most of GS's games) but his defense might just be the best thing about not only his game but the Warrior's team overall. Everyone was going crazy about how they're "strength in numbers" and how they were so amazing at shooting threes. Heck, people were comparing Chino Hills to GS because they ran fast and shot a lot of threes, when the two couldn't be more different. Chino Hills would often just fire up a crazy shot that they can hit and then allow the other team to score just to launch it back down the court and get those points right back. Golden State would beat people with superior ball movement, cutting, and they just played to what their players were good at, which coincidentally was shooting threes, they also had a coach who was especially known for doing just that, shooting threes, it was a match made in Heaven. But it wasn't the offense that made them so good, it was their suffocating defense. Draymond is easily a top 10 defender of all time, Klay is one of the best defenders of the decade, Curry, while not the greatest defender, is by no means a liability, and they had plenty of other guys like Harrison Barnes, Andrew Bogut, Andre Iguodala, and Shaun Livingston who were all great.
I really like how you hinted at the school that Thompson went to as a reason he dropped so low. WSU to date has only 6 NCAA tournament appearances, falling well below even several non-Power 5 conference schools. For a power-5 school to barely crack 5 tournament appearances is…well, to put it bluntly, kinda pathetic. This meant that Thompson would hardly get any national TV time and, as you mention, with no other NBA-caliber players on the team, it also meant fewer people would be willing to travel to a small Eastern Washington town in Pullman to scout him. Guys like Fredette and even Curry went to non-Power 5 schools but they had the benefit of the NCAA tournament, one that Thompson only made once…and that was in his freshman year, not his breakout season.
It’s crazy looking back to this draft and the Cavs had the number 1 and 4 pick and decided to draft Tristan Thompson for the 4th pick over Klay Thompson and Kawhi just imagine this a Cleveland duo with Kyrie and Klay or Kawhi with LeBron probably coming back the next 3 years due to his contract

Cleveland would pick Tristan for Charlotte and Charlotte would pick Jonas V at #9 for Cleveland, then trade his rights, along with the #19 pick to Cleveland, in exchange for Tristan Thompson. Problem was, Jonas went at #5. Many thought he would fall in the draft, because he had a contract overseas and may not be available for 2 years. So, the Cavs' plan was to get Kyrie, Klay (they had a deal with Utah for #12. But GS got him at #11), and Jonas V. out of this draft, adding a 4th 1st rounder with Charlotte's #19 pick.

Also if the Raptors were to draft Klay with the 5th pick, they might have lost him to the Spurs since for sure, the spurs will go for a direct sg-sf swap with Derozan and Klay being traded for Kawhi and Danny Green. (The original one is Jakob Poeltl)

You're wrong about Cleveland with Klay, Lebron, Wiggs Irving team... Klay is great bc of the Warriors organization and its healthy environment, bc he's training & playing next to Curry, there's a reason they're the splash brothers. It took the Warriors environment make Wiggs shine and bring the best out of him, the same as JP2. Warriors is not a team of players, is a family that learn and teach eachother, where there is a standout superstar (Curry) that doesn't demand the spotlight and puts the team over himself... Something that LeBron doesn't know how to do, he just wants to be in teams with mvp's and not forge them.
Hey Mike do you think you can do a video on the Oklahoma City thunder franchise and see what has gone wrong on why we can't seem to win a title or for that matter get to the championship round?

You are a staple of the you tube basketball creators been doing it for it seems like forever man thanks for the content.
Sweet I missed this series Dom2- wait a minute.
I'd love a video on Jimmer and Kemba tbh
He did one on Jimmer
Bismack Biyombo also has a weird playoff record: 26 rebounds in a single playoff game for the Raptors.
Amazing content man! Love it! Keep it
Love vid and pod mike
Definitely need that Kemba video. As a South African my aunt had just got the package that featured ESPN and for the first ever could watch basketball games. I used to practically live at my cousin's house so my first March Madness was the Kemba run. That's why till this day I can never root against Kemba...he represents my first ever live basketball memories although I'm old enough to have watched Jordan in his prime if that had been an option for me.
That’s amazing, I’ll for sure make a kemba video closer to March madness!
@@MikeKorzemba blessings to you my brother. Your channel is amazing
Definitely need both the Kemba and Jimmer vids
Klay the goat 🐐 he a future hall of famer the 2ed best shooter of all time
Klay Thompson would work on every single NBA team as a solid #2 or even #1
Really appreciate the respect put on JVs name as a player and not just his role in getting us Marc Gasol. NBA fans in the last few years have seen more of his Monster performances especially as Ja was developing.
Kemba Uconn run & Jimmer mania vids please!!!!
those 2 subjects would make great videos mike :D keep up the good work
This a certified hood classic
Klay and Steph are the best 1-2 offensive punch in the league and have been since their 2014-2015 campaign.
Steph and Klay complement each other very well. They don't step on each other's feet. (One is small, the other is big)(one has to be hidden on defense, the other can defend)(Both have the same major skill which is deadly shooting).
Do a video about kemba’s incredible run pleaseeee!!!!!!
I liked and commented b4 the ad ended
Need both the Kemba vid and Jimmer mania vid, both would be great!
Klay Thompson 2nd BEST SHOOTER & ELITE DEFENDER👏🔥🔥🔥
Because they didn’t know what they’d be missing out on
😯
Kawhi was drafted after Klay and nobody talked about how the Warriors missed out on 2 mvps
Klay is a legend in the making, and it’s great to be alive in his time 🙌🏽🙏🏽✊🏼
klay dropped in the draft due to off-the-court issues and many teams used this as an excuse not to draft him. everyone else failure is the warrior's gain.
Mike please Make a Jimmer Mania PLEAASSSEE BRO. I’ve been here since 2016
I might have to do it and thanks for being so loyal my man!!!
I love Klay Thompson so happy Bob Myers and Joe Lacob made the right call
Jammer was a hell of a shooter, wonder if his career would’ve been different on the Dubs and that motion system opening up shots for him
Hard work beats talent
Great video as always Mike! Klay is one of my favorites, I always put him on my expansion Pittsburgh team in 2K. Still waiting on that Pittsburgh expansion team video! Much love as always!🖤💛🏀
Warriors gonna be goated with Klay back
Casual
Westbrook is going to be goated when AD comes back
Well curry gotta start shooting better
This aged well. Nabil aka the oracle.
Jimmer in a James harden type role in Mike D Antoni’s system would’ve been interesting
This is a certified hood classic
Klay Thompson, will always be the best Washington state Cougar's basketball player of all time!! Go Coug's!
Man I remember that year. Everyone didn’t like the pick because we had Monte Ellis along with Curry. But that huge trade in 14, though difficult at the time, really helped out in the long run.
This vid reminds me of the ones Dom2K did similarly
Good vid mike
Thanks Nicol!
Joans is a solid player he's a monster in 2K makes almost every shot and he did went off this past season against the Clippers I forgot how many threes he made.
He single handly put the game Out Of Reach he always had a lot of potential he's not an All-Star big man but Jonas is solid.
@mike korzemba you should do jimmer fredetes college run
Yea the warriors are one of the best organizations because they took a number one pick bust and transformed him into a really good player
That Jimmer/Kobe thing was an absolute fact. I was there. He was that guy
Awesome i live my warriors, i remember sitting through so many losses before this guy and a few others were drafted 😢 thank jeebus
It still hunts me as a wizards fan that Jan vesely was drafted instead of klay thompson
Hey Mike can u pls do those jimmer mania and Kemba vids ? Thanks for the content as always! God bless!
Also if the Raptors were to draft Klay with the 5th pick, they might have lost him to the Spurs since for sure, the spurs will go for a direct sg-sf swap with Derozan and Klay being traded for Kawhi and Danny Green. (The original one is Jakob Poeltl)
I'll always remember being so annoyed the Warriors drafted a shooting guard when they still had Steph and Monta in the starting lineup. Obviously they were playing some 4D chess with that pick
Imagine him with Giannis
Golden state warriors owns did the right job pick the right player on the team and coaches they team is real good and klay Thompson is good and nice man and he can back strong from being hurt
A Jimmermania video would be amazing!!
Hey Mike do you think you can do a video on the Oklahoma City thunder franchise and see what has gone wrong on why we can't seem to win a title or for that matter get to the championship round?
Didn't build around Durant properly and let Harden go.
Uh, cause they suck !. There is your "video"..............
Make both of the Jimmer and the Kemba run videos!
We NEED A JIMMER VIDEO!! To this day I still follow him n keep up with his story I’d love to hear you tell it!!
There's enough 3s being taken now.Just watch the replays n pretend it's Jimmer.
Would love a Kemba video about that run!
Kemba step back was cold as ice.
definitely make those videos on Jimmer and Kemba man
Drafting is sometimes luck more than talent. You find the player that fits your system and make the best of their skills. Which is why some player flourish in systems that are made to highlight their strengths and hide their weaknesses.
I lived at Brandon knight first house when he got drafted, he obv ended moving to a different part of Michigan but I moved to the first house he had
Biyombo actually played pretty well for Phoenix this year when Ayton did not play.
Yes please, jimmermania and Kemba’s UConn run
He's a great shooter like Curry. He's no shake the house dunker, but he can bring a team back with his 3 point shots.
Ppl forget abt this man's defense all the time
As a raptors fan I was not shocked. We could of had better players in so many drafts. But we did get a ton of sick top drafts. VC T-Mac Camby etc.
When a team actually knows how to scout and not rely on luck. It's not luck why GSW has so many good players and why they have the best team culture.
