you probably mean best studio album. The Uriah Heep Live double album is better IMO.

@@dannylgriffin Sure I can agree with that. Also there are a couple of very good concert DVD's Magician's Birthday Party (2001) and Magic Night (2004) that should be must see for all Heep fans.

JP, you've got the best channel. I love that you've featured my two favorite bands, VDGG and Heep. I've been a Heep fan from the first album. Lots of great stuff on this album. Tears in my Eyes has some blistering twin guitar work from Box and Hensley, who plays slide on that one. Overall, a great album.

This song and "July Morning" got lots of airplay - my first hearing of Uriah Heep. At that same time, my classmates in high school were reading about Uriah Heep in David Copperfield for English Literature class.

If you havent checked out Lucifers friend you should, top to bottom amazing album. John Lawton was one of the singers for Heap. Also before Lucifer friend he was in a band Asterix. Gone from my life perfect riffage. and look out sort of proto prog punk vibe.

Великолепнейший хард-рок-хит!! Больше тут и добавить нечего, т.к. все другие слова - излишни. Да и весь альбом - полностью замечательный!! / A magnificent hard rock hit!! There is nothing more to add here, because all other words are superfluous. And the whole album is absolutely wonderful!!

It's a great track. Always loved Heep and I have all their albuns.
Funny it's the vocals: Hensley sounds much like Byron. One great song for you to hear the exactly difference between them is one of the versions of 'Why', the extended one, with 10:30 minutes, which both sings alternating vocals in a jam session with a shredding bass (it's incredible, believe me). This one was cut in a single, but it takes away the bass part....
P.S.: it will be a lot of fun to make a video trying to make the difference between then and not be distracted by the bass playing haha

Back from holiday/vacation so delayed reaction to your reaction. I do think that this is Heep's best album and this is a great introduction to that album but July Morning will always be my favourite track of theirs.

Guitars weren't the only thing that got advance on using tubes in the amplifiers. :) I remember some people really hating those high pitched backing vocals back then.
"Why" is another great track, featuring arguably guitarist Mick Box at his best.
It is also the B - side of the single "The Wizard".

I don't remember recommending this song or this Uriah Heep album to you, but it would be nice for a change if you'd try their Firefly album (rec:1976/rel:1977) with John Lawton on vocals (who, remember, was the singer of Lucifer's Friend, the band whose Banquet album you listened to a few months ago!). Oh, and if you ever feel like listening to a Lucifer's Friend album again, try the successor to Banquet, Mind Exploding (1975/1976), which is just as good!😉
