The cat on cow episode reminded me of when my old cat decided to hunt a moose. We watched her stalk the moose and thought she'd give up, but she wasn't that smart. Instead, she jumped on its back and dug in her teeth and claws. The moose took off into the woods with the cat still hanging on. The cat came back the next day, casually strolling in as if nothing special had happened.

I have suggestion about the meat pies: Did you season them? Unsure if you did not or just didn’t show it. Make sure you add salt/pepper to meat and then veggies. Also garlic powder, thyme and cumin. (A thin shaking of garlic and a few pinches of the thyme, maybe just a pinch of cumin. Cumin goes a long way.) The gluten-free pastry seems thin. Double it up so it’s thicker and cut in thirds. Then, add the meat and fold over like individual turnovers (so there’s more pastry per bite). You only need to pinch (w/fork) the open edges, not the folded part. Poke w/fork on top to allow steam to escape but just tiny pokes. So great that you’re trying to make a fav dish for your wife. Looks like you’re living a nice life which is awesome!

I really enjoyed this video! Thank you for making it and sharing it with us. I’m glad you don’t have to worry about a separate day job any more. This couldn’t have happened without bold planning, extremely hard work, perseverance, and dedication to making your dream life real. Respect!
Sheets, like clothing, come with a stiffening agent (sizing) to help them lie flat and probably also some kind of preservative and/or anti-bug additive. That is why you always wash new ones before the first use.
I didn’t learn about the warm wondefulness of cotton flannel sheets in cold weather until I moved to New England. I totally agree with what you say about what a huge difference they make in keeping cozy. I think more people know about flannel sheets now than then. Note to first time flannel sheet users: a lot of fluffy lint will come off onto the filter the first time they go through the dryer. That’s normal, not a concern.

    • @patchurch1677
      @patchurch1677 2 года назад

I use a flannel top sheet, but I like a regular bottom sheet. Yes, flannel makes it much easier to go to bed in the winter. I also use a microwave heated hot pack in my bed, first where the back goes, then lower down, yum. I turn easier with the plain sheet on the bottom.
Get good ones if you get flannel sheets. I have some that are old, like 20 + years. Heavy weight, made in Portugal. Sleep well..... :-)

Ooh! Squeaky snow! Proof it's cold! 😁 Also--about warm compost--when I worked at a stable, during the summer, you could see smoke rising from the muck pile (we used wood shavings) and several times there were small flames! (It was close to 95-100 degrees...) Interesting how that works.

  • @zeldapinwheel7043

Couple tips: chicken stock is more than just bones. Celery, carrots, onions, garlic, and LOTS of bones. Some wine If you have it. It's supposed to be concentrated flavor, not just chicken water. I used to pick out the bones, onions and garlic, and add the rest to my dog's food, after I strained the solids.
#2 when you are cooking something, taste it as you go. That way if you need to add more seasonings, you're going to have plenty of time to make sure it tastes like it's supposed to. Taste that cooked filling before you put it in pastry. Also, you can add a little salt and pepper, and other aeasonings to your pastry after you put the egg wash on it.

    Yay,
It’s not just me that uses jars (or anything suitable) as a “glass”.
    (AKA - a liquid receptacle)
In the morning, I love having my coffee in a small deep bowl. I’ve been doing this for years and I’ve been shamed for it on occasion.
That’s was until people became aware that people in Europe have been using bowls for......EVER (and ever).
P.s I’m VERY envious of your Brooklinen sheets.
I’ve always wanted real, natural linen sheets, but I have never been able to afford them. I’ve since checked out the Brooklinen website and I continue to check it out and droool over the beautiful images of cosy interiors with cosy linen sheets and doona covers.
    So....yes....very very envious.
If I had a RUclips channel and eventually was contacted to do a sponsorship for a Linen sheet company....ha ha I think that I’d feel that I’d really reached the pinnacle and could comfortably retire and snuggle up in my warm luxe bedding ha ha
Me, shallow? No, not at all.
It’s cold outside as I type this, and it’s all about the snuggle factor for this single gal.

With your allergies you may want to look into getting a mattress and pillowcase cover. I know for us they made a huge difference in our breathing at night.🥰

Just wanted to say... I love your videos! Glad I found you guys. The funny names you give all your pets and farm animals show how much you love them.
I think it's wonderful that you have been able to quit your office job and do something you enjoy. I also commend you on being pretty transparent about your weaknesses and facing them head on and trying to always improve.
I live in central MS and love seeing your beautiful state and all it has to offer. So interesting. We all can't and shouldn't try to be like anyone else. What a boring world this would be. I enjoy how you seem to face problems... listen and learn from others. And then come to your own conclusions!
Continue to help Allison with those house chores and cooking and she will keep giving you those smiles! We like a man that SHOWS his love and doesn't just say IT!!!

Yes you can candle eggs after about a week of incubation, then you will see some veins. Or you can brake the egg and check for a small white spot in the yolk showing that it was fertile. But other then that you can’t tell, you make your decision about what you want to do with the egg. Fertile eggs are perfectly safe to eat.

My chickens use to fly up into the trees as part of their natural instinct. It was safe for them as a raccoon or whatever couldn't get them. And yet, the temps here usually don't get below mid 20s at night. They still went up into the trees at night for safety.

In cities, roaming cats often seek out broken basement windows and take shelter in the basements. If your basement has a little, openable window, then leaving that open will allow the cats to voluntarily come into and leave the basement. It's additionally beneficial due to how cats don't have such day-night cycles as us and love hunting in the night.

Re: the linens. I suggest that in you invest in a bedpad to protect the mattress. Also, as an RN, I learned an easier way to put a pillowcase on a pillow, for sure. You can probably find a RUclips video or ask Allison.
    The linens do look wonderful.

if you have power out around by the bird greenhouse, you can see if you can add a heat lamp or two that you can switch on when it is in the negatives just to be safe. ♥
They don't have to be on all the time either, leaving them on for a couple hours and that heat will linger for quite a bit I imagine.
(Note: I am not a farmer.)
