Drawn entirely in ballpoint pen, Gina Siciliano’s graphic novel is an education in world history that is full of drama, tragedy, and passion. Siciliano weaves Gentileschi’s artworks with her life story, the politics of art patronage, and the religious turmoil of the 17th century. The author joins Frick Executive Director Elizabeth Barker for a conversation about Siciliano’s inspiration, intentions, and artistic choices in creating this beautifully illustrated book.

I was disappointed to see the amount of research you did into this spectacular women, and yet you chose to paint her much much thinner than she painted herself. A fabulous book besides that ridiculous, vain override.
