Thank you so much for sharing this. Many people do not talk about the issue of marrying with small locs; especially when you have hair with a lot of density. That can be a shock. lol I have less than 200 locs and I can only imagine how it was for you with microlocs. I think this size of locs looks amazing on you. 😍😍😍

This week makes 10 years since I started my locs. I originally installed 270 locs, but that count has gone up due to new growth. I have been cutting it every 3 years to maintain a manageable length. However, now, they're literally falling out by the root. I'm losing 2-3 locs a week in the past 2 months. I'm not ready to cut it all off since I've always experienced cyclical hair loss.
I am motivated by your story, and I feel more encouraged to combine my locs to offer more support in the hope that I can ride out this hair loss cycle as I always have.

You are not alone😊 I started my first journey with very small locs (270). Like your hair, I have fine strands and my locs was marring together and I was very frustrated. I then decided to comb them out unintentionally. Initially, I intended to comb out the first row at the very back & restart them again. But realized that I have lints in my locs and that led to me taken all my 270 locs out after 13 months journey. 2 days later I started my 2nd journey with 190 braids locs. I love my current locs so much and I’m happy with my decision. My reties is faster and I feel like I know how to care for my locs better compared to my first journey. Thank you for sharing your journey and your experience with us💗

Your Locs look really really good. I have sisterlocks and I'm thinking about combining them because I don't care about a grid and I I don't care about a certain amount of locks I just want something that will be easier to maintain. Your mother did a good job job. Ask her what she do mine LOL

Love how you walked us through the societal dynamics of how Locs are perceived. I am also in my microlocs journey, now a year in and went into it with some of those similar outlooks, but in addition to recommendations of how smaller Locs retain a sort of volume and styling flexibility.. but ultimately I wanted hair freedom, and the retightening sessions while were very few weeks and I usually pay to have it done felt like another trap. I am highly considering combining them and allowing MYSELF more flexibility . Thanks so much for this video it couldn’t have come at a better time !!

I am currently only half way through the video but I had to stop and comment. I can completely relate with everything you were saying about microlocs being more acceptable than traditional locs. I think it's because they don't look like what we typically think of as locs plus they look high maintenance (and they are). It's almost like in order for locs to be acceptable they have to be a ton of work. Crazy, I know. It also seems to be an extension of the "good hair" sentiment. Aka type 4 hair is not good enough or presentable as is. 🙄
All that to say, you are spot on with what you were saying about microlocs. I appreciate hearing you how you had to process through that. Much respect for sharing that with us.

Thank you so much for watching and for your feedback! I’m really glad it resonated. It definitely was weird to be happy about combining my locs but also feeling the loss of the microlocs as well. There are so many layers to hair and I’m glad we can talk about it. Thank you again for your support! ☺️

Your mom is the BEST!! 🙌🏽 I was having the same thoughts about this set of locs. I want the small locs, (not over 650! which is what I ended up having). Because I can do more with them personally (similar to my micro braids). But i HATE that ramen noodle look! Some of mine didn’t swell either. I combined to about 574 and will probably combine again. I love the look of my locs but because retightening is NOT fun 🤦🏽‍♀️. Still watching…. your videos and personality are great!. Ps… the violin will keep me watching 🥰.

Pls talk more about management with fine strand webbing. I have this prob with only 74 or so locs. I don't retwist per se but do wrap loose hairs around loc base. I have to tear or cut so much to put streaks back after a wash. Others make slipping stands out so easy. But mine web and get stuck all over.

LETS TALK ABOUT IT! After you watch and hear my story, let me know yours! Have you overcome any loc struggles due to having fine hair or anything else? Have you combined your locs before? How many did you start with and how many do you have now? I really enjoy talking about locs (as you may have figured) so join me if you do too!

I started my journey Nov 2021 and wish the loctician would have told me microlocs are not a good fit for my hair type, thin and fine. Well since then I'm on my 3rd loctician and prayerfully my last, I'm planning to combine some of my thinner locs because I've lost hair and the loc from too tight reties. Getting more knowledgeable in my journey if nothing else. I like yours and have no idea how many I have, not important to me. Thanks for sharing your journey.

Nice video love how you could self reflect very few can. Now on to the locs I too have fine hair with lots of strands almost two years in. Started with about 86 locs not have about 70. They are about the size of a pencil, I would prefer about the size of a sharpie. They swell then shrink. They are growing insanly fast. One minute they feel sharpie size the next pencil. They change daily. But I l❤️ve them soooo much. I'm glad your enjoying your journey and you look lovely 👑. Keep up the loc content.🙌❤️🙏

I have the same hair texture as you but I have 81 small traditional locs that I started with two strand twists. I have a lot of marrying at the roots too. But I’m cool with that because locs are not supposed to be perfectly manicured all the time. I’ve learned to embrace the frizz:) I retwist every 2 months because I want thicker locs I started out interlocking but my locs were too skinny for my liking. Your hair looks amazing btw and the music is awesome 😎
