Laura, you're the homeowner/gardener. If YOU want to take down a tree, no one should make you feel you need to explain yourself.
You are very skilled, tireless, and full of great information. Thank you for sharing it all with us.

One of the things that amaze me most is your vision. In the dead of winter with snow on the ground, you can still see how it will look in the spring, summer, and fall. I love seeing your gardens develop through your eyes and your talented hands.

Your gardens are so beautiful, you never need to be apologetic for removing your plants or changing it up. Your an artist. Your gardens are your canvas. Keep creating!

Your videos are never too long, in fact I think we are all looking forward to longer ones when Benjamin is out there with you. Running around pulling up your plants, digging out the bulbs you've planted, catching beetles and eating worms (if your not quick enough!). Oh no....that was my son 😀 45 years ago. Lol

Laura - don't ever question whether or not you should have started with a "clean slate" - among many things, one of the most interesting things about watching your videos is seeing how you transition overgrown, out of date, or "just not right" areas into the wonderful gardens you are developing. Keep it up! Interested in developing site plans?

Aaron, loved the snowy drone shots...without footprints!! I'm with you Laura! Everything looks so magical and beautiful even in winter. Enjoyed the shots back and froth from summer to winter, helped me to remember just how lovely your garden always is, ever evolving as it should. And before you start wondering, no it wasn't too long!😊💚🌿❄️

You mentioned that you might do a video on cutting back your limelight hydrangeas in the spring. I would LOVE that. In fact some I would love videos on anything you do in spring to get your plants started off. This last year I planted so many new plants you inteoduced me to, so I want to make sure I give them all everything they need to thrive! I love learning from you! You're the best!

I Agree . . . A ' Slightly Curved Path ' Is The Better Way To Go In That Area, Especially Since It Will Be Between Two Really Long And Straight Existing Structures . . . Your Driveway And Your Fence Line.
It Will Feel So Alluring To Walk Down This Path And View Its Charm . . . What A Wonderful Idea !

Yay, another long garden video with drone shots (thanks Aaron) and cameo appearances by your little garden supervisor (Russell)! I absolutely love it! Please, please, PLEASE keep having the monthly garden videos with drone footage. The longer the better especially this time of year when there are a lot of us who can't be outside. I definitely agree with you Laura about enjoying the statues and fountains throughout the year. The sunrise shot that Aaron added was simply magical. I can't wait to see all of the changes that you guys have planned for this year.

I always love seeing your garden tours and I can’t wait to see all the changes this year because I know You and Aaron will make it beautiful. Here’s a thought on deciding whether making the new path straight or curved. Next couple of new snows lightly plow thru with your John Deere one straight path where the path will go then next snow plow thru curved. Walk both and for sure let Aaron take aerial views. But whatever you decide I know it will be beautiful☺️.

    Good Morning Aaron & Laura,
I just had to stop the video and comment on your idea that starting this garden from scratch may have been a better way to go. I say no, no, no, because most people are not planning a landscape from bare bones. It has been great to see the transformation and growth you guys have made with your garden and family. Also there are so many beautiful staples (plants & trees) in your garden that were already there. I love reflecting on your first garden and contrasting this with your parents' garden. Seeing the metamorphosis of your current garden is not only entertaining but very informative. Please keep up the great work and good fight:) Thanks for sharing!

What a beautiful light snow that's perfect for the January tour! Everything looks so clean and fresh! Very cool drone footage at the beginning of this video, Aaron! Laura, it has ALWAYS annoyed me to look out at my lawn after a newly fallen snow to see that someone has already walked across it & "messed it up"! It's very exciting to see the areas that you have plans for. Lots of your winter interest plants & statuary are really stunning! I love Hebe very much! Those rosy colored hellebores are breathtaking! With the lamp post... what about solar? A small panel somewhere discreet.
The drone footage would make planning the garden dead simple... just take a screenshot of each section and then virtually plant... adding in the plant names and on the side all relevant plant data; like size reached and light requirements.
Unfortunately or perhaps, fortunately, I have way too many trees for a drone to be of use where I am.
Around the AC, what about a trellis with Clematis, Honeysuckle, Laburnum, Wisteria etc. That way it would be a spectacular feature...

Your garden is beautiful each and every season. Love, Love, Love the winter interest. A winter interest shrub that I have is the Harry Lauder walking stick. The curly cues of the branches are awesome. Mine is fairly small yet and at Christmas I hung differing gold balls, size and shape throughout the curly cues and and put an uplight from underneath. I also love the red twig and the yellow twig dogwoods for winter interest.

Laura, Thank you for the winter tour. Very helpful. The flash-backs to compare the summer to the winter look was an excellent idea. I'm impressed with your remembering names of plants as you go through your garden. I can't do that so I have been placing the plant name tags, when purchased, in a somewhat hidden spot near the plant. The labels I have made don't last very long. They fade, even using permanent ink. Also, I appreciate your willingness to move plants. It encourages me to do more of that. I love your energy!

I just love your videos!: so much practical information in every video! Especially love the way you present the thought processes behind your design and plant-selection decisions. I am 67, and have gardened from Florida to Maryland and Maine, and for last 25 years Alaska in the US, with shorter stints in the Falkland Islands and Wales, UK. Each place had its positive and negative challenges - Homer, Alaska being the most challenging with its proximity to the ocean, MOOSE!!!, and cold, wet winters. Wales, of course, is my idea of gardeners' paradise. Your taste in design, plant selection, and balance of trees, shrubs , perennials, annuals, hardscape, statuary, urns/planters, etc. exactly reflects my own, but at a scale beyond my financial means. That said, you do a terrific job of presenting ideas that can be scaled to any size property - from a small terrace garden, to an intimate in-town lot, to a full-on estate garden. Now, if you could just find a way to transmit some of your and Aaron's phenomenal physical energy through the RUclips airways! Thanks to both of you for all your efforts which give me so much pleasure throughout the year - oh, and let's not forget Russell!

I look for excuses to go out in my garden on the winter, because I still enjoy it so much even when it’s cold! Everything looks lovely in your garden! Birch trees are just so pretty! I loved seeing the house and property from above ! 🌱😀❄️

Oh what a wonderful thing it is to be able to see the full layout from overhead, with a drone. Everything looks spectacular - especially with a light dusting of snow. Looking forward to seeing how everything looks from spring, on throughout the seasons.Happy New Year!

Beautiful video, your property is laid out just gorgeous, and I have enjoyed following you and Aaron on alot of the changes, and I'm looking forward to seeing all the changes you are talking about this year. I always love to see the drone shots, they just bring into perspective how large an area you are working with and how beautiful it's laid out. We have so much more snow than you do, and as I'm writing this it is raining, yes that is crazy, but it is also Idaho, and our weather is always so unpredictable. Thank you for such an amazing tour and I'm excited to see all of the projects you have planned. Have a great day and I will see you in your next video.

Love love love. Always interested in how the pallet walkway is going? And...I don’t even remember a lot from the year Benjamin was born. So true, you’re not alone. 💕💕💕😀

I have to tell you that I so enjoy your personality, its like we are really there just following you and we are friends. I laughed out loud when you goofed up on the tree name. I'm really sensitive to ingenuine people and I enjoy your realness so much. This above the fact that you are really knowledgeable and inspiring. Thanks so much for all you do, hope you never tire of doing these videos. Happy Belated birthday to Benjamin!

Love to hear all your plans for the future of your garden. At our age we are trying to cut back on our gardening chores as it gets harder and harder each year to keep up with our gardens. What used to take a day now takes a week! But I just love seeing everything grow come spring here in Vermont. Love all your videos, thanks! 😄

Can you do a video completely dedicated to trees? The ones you absolutely love and the ones you really don’t like and why. How fast they grow? Diseases that affect them? I know you did a video when y’all planted like 15 different trees around your garden. Can you explain more about all of the more established trees in your garden or your moms house? I try to write down the tree names that you mention in all of your tours/videos so I can google them later lol. But having a video dedicated to that would be super helpful and interesting.

Love the aerial shots that Aaron does which give us the full-scale look. The snow always looks nice when it's sprinkled on evergreens.
I'm on the take-out-the-front-hedge side, especially since the a/c unit has its own pretty fence. Really looking forward to your future plans. 2019 will be an exciting year.

    Hi Laura & Aaron,
Thumbs up on the winter tour! I love being able to see the bones of your gardens. It really helps to understand your projects and challenges better.
You both do a terrific job on your garden and videos. I’m afraid it’s your fault I’ve gotten hooked on You Tube! 😉
Laura, you said that you sometimes wish you could have started with a blank slate. I get that but I think it may have made you crazy! It sure did me!
We started with an almost blank slate on 2/3 acre and it took many years for it to just START looking the way I wanted, even though we brought hundreds of perennials, shrubs and trees from our old garden!!
My husband and I also work together on our gardens and rehabbing our house - a historic Queen Anne Victorian. We have many 100+ year old sugar maple & oak trees that keeps most of the gardens in shade. It really is plenty of space to garden but I do occasionally have sun and space envy when I watch you!
Thank you for all your work and the inspiration you provide! Keep up the good work! 👍
