Good looking new digs, Kenny! Module communication is typically twisted wires, which are in high contact (with their partner wire) for their entire life. Perhaps the collision, or the heat from the adjacent hose, caused the wires to get closer together - until you moved the wire bundle? Cheers to Kurt and Pablo!

I know i can't, and don't want to, change your customer base, and I will always watch your vids regardless: I noticed you don't work on foreign vehicles much. Is that personal preference, shop preference, or do you not get much in the way of foreign vehicles? Would love to see some foreign content if you work on them; and if not, do you have a friend that does? Good show sir!!! I thought the same thing when you showed the harness. The only other thing I would suggest is grabbing some loom tape & run a couple of wind around it finishing off at the junction of the main loo & strapping it together there plus the cable tie .Good to see you hope all is well Cheers mate.(from AUS).

Wow, nice shop. You're in Durham now? Have you seen 11 foot 8 bridge on You Tube yet? Apparently, there's a low bridge there that constantly gets hit by busses, box trucks, etc😂😂😂. People peel roofs off trucks. I find it particularly funny because there's a big ass light up sign that states "over height, must turn." If you haven't seen it yet, it is entertaining

Yes likely harness has a flat spot in insulation, which rubbed through under the sleeve, and the data lines were shorted together. Moving it away got it to rotate the wires away. Probably best fix would be to unplug the TCM connector, pull out the loom, and check for frayed wires where it was next to the hose, and sleeve them and tape up again, so you can be sure. Any of the CAN wires separate them in that area to see if they were crushed, and any bare copper, or thin insulation, there was your problem. No broken CAN wires though, that would set that CAN was in a degraded mode and you would have a slew of other errors about bus speed being dropped down.

Last Fall (Fall of 2022), I started experiencing engine/transmission drop-outs of the engine/transmission on a 1993 Chevy C1500 5.7l with 236k miles. The issue seemed to be worse when the vehicle developed to operating temperature.
Okay, most likely, an electrical issue of some sort with the ECM or some such. Now, keep in mind, this is an OBD-I vehicle. There is limited self-reporting diagnostics available...
Well, the thing is 30 years old. Betcha those electrical grounds are green and crusty. A couple of years prior, I had refreshed the engine-to-frame and frame-to-body grounding straps. So, this time, I just needed to concentrate on the control circuit wiring.
Over the Winter as nice weather days presented, I worked on inspecting and replacing the electrical grounds with new soldered-on terminal lugs. Although, nothing jumped out at me as *_the_* smoking gun.
Eventually, I worked my way to the back of the vehicle and jacked it up to refresh the rear tail light and trailer connector ground. Also, while under there, I put my hand on the 4L60E transmission connector... Yeah, it was barely seated. Well, a bridge expansion joint jolt would certainly cause a hiccup in this condition.
The transmission electrical connection plug just didn't want to click in, though. So, I safety wired it in place. But, the next time I took the truck for an outing, it ended up puking cups of ATF all over the pavement. I did something under there...
Seems the thirty year old plastic transmission plug connector had broken all of its five snap clip fingers holding it stationary.
Actually, kwel! Replace the internal wiring harness for the transmission and the plug issue and failure of the connectors to snap together should be fixed!
While in there, I decided to replace all the solenoids.
Afterwards, she would drive like a dream until about 20 minutes in... And right at heat-soak, the transmission would quit shifting and go into limp mode -- third gear.
    Lovely!
The power feed circuit to the transmission was functioning just fine. Something is going on inside the transmission. And, I really needed more information about what was going on in there before devoting the time and energy to open things up again.
So, I ordered connectors, wire, and a bunch of other stuff and built a electrical "tee" tap. This would allow me to monitor and inject signals into the transmission for further data gathering.
Lots of testing and lots of miles, and lots of individual heat soak cycles... When cold, the 3-2 downshift solenoid would amp out at 0.4 amps. When heat soaked, it would go open circuit.
Okay, but the 3-2 downshift solenoid isn't a fully necessary component. Why is the transmission going absolutely dead on heat soak? Is there some other problem?
Well, I did all the testing and data gathering I could do... I also bought a brand new name brand wiring harness and GM 3-2 downshift solenoid.
Time to go in... The previous 3-2 downshift solenoid's connector socket had slightly bent pins. This caused the female pin in the wiring harness to get pushed out the back of the connector. The two where touching end-to-end when cold. But, they separated once heat-soak material expansion occurred. What a royal pain in the back side!
So, why did the transmission go into limp mode? Although, I found no mention of the issue *anywhere* on the Internet, apparently, when the ECM detects and electrical issue with the 3-2 downshift solenoid, it stops sending control signals to the transmission as a way to signal, "Hey, there's something wrong here."
The truck now drives smooth as ever. But, good God was this fix-it journey a headache of major proportions.
And this time, I installed the U.S. quarter sized Sonnax electrical connector blocker inside the transmission. Now, even if all the plastic locking fingers on the connector break, it will *_never_* be pushed back into the transmission again!
Here's the homemade DIY transmission signal monitoring/injection harness:

It's a mystery, and I hate mysteries, they give me a belly ache. Hopefully that did the trick. The wires getting hot, or just from moving them around made better connection, heck even unplugging and plugging back in may have helped. Keep us apprised if it comes back. That's a nice shop you're in now, it doesn't make you a better mechanic, you are a great mechanic. I just hope you have as much "say so" in this shop as you did in the other.

Those transmission are known for issues.. gotta keep the trans fluid clean I had similar issues drained and filled fluid it helped. But the ultimate issues is the techem they put these small plastic disc inside that degrade overtime sonix I think is the company that make replacements for them...not a horrible job to do.

Nice shop . But why does the car need a parking brake module? That is stupid. These new engineers are screwing thing up to no end. the dumbest thing I've ever seen. to many friking modules. this is why i drive old cars. I do have a 99 and 07 but nothing newer than that . the 07 is my wifes car. my other 2 cars/ truck are from the 80's. I will never buy a new car or truck. Too expensive and to complicated and stupid controlled by computers everywhere. I hate them.
