I saw someone else use one as a shortcut device and that gave me the idea... to use my VR Bluetooth remote as a shortcut remote. 2 triggers, one analog, and 4 actual buttons to shortcut to. Other two are just power and function. It works very well besides having to repairing it from scratch when I want to use it. It's pretty much like the Clip Studio Tab device, but VERY cheaper. I hope 8-bit do makes a remote shortcut device that competes with Clip Studio Tab and be as cheap as this little cute controller. 2 triggers please xD it's so comfy as Undo and redo mapping. P.s.- cook art. Subscribed.
the VR controllers do seem perfect for this type of thing! they are meant to be held in a way that feels just right for digital art! might have to look into that myself hehe
THIS IS GENIUS. ive been avoiding digital art lately due to excessive back pain and wrist strain....no duh its the keyboard shortcuts! I use 8bitdo pro controllers for gaming, but never did i think to use the mini as a shortcut tool! This is so cool, gonna buy one and update my setup
I'm sold. I don't have a huge setup area and having my keyboard out can be clunky so I like this. Can't believe I never thought about it. Thanks for the video!
And that means she is also latinoamerican 🎉, i'm so happy of seeing such a great latino artist and Brazilians are such lovely people ❤, grettings from Chile 😊
I do this with a PS4 controller. It's nice cause in Steam you can assign the analog stick rotation to do something. So I set the left analog stick to increase brush size when I rotate it clockwise (counter-clockwise to decrease brush size). I only have access to the left side of the gamepad, but I find that enough, cause you can set the shoulder buttons to become modifiers. I set my d-pad to my most used brush presets and eraser, but if I hold the left trigger then press d-pad, that's an entirely different set of actions. I like using a controller in this situation cause they're just more ergonomic compared to wacom express keys or whatever else there is.
omg thats amazing :0 i wonder if in steam you can do that with joycons too... the rotation movement sounds so useful! and yes, about gaming controllers being way more ergonomic!!
Genius. I’ve been thinking about getting the bigger one for a while now to have on the go when I want to play with friends. But I think this what made me really want one! I’ll probably get that one now! Thanks!
Just wanted to say I grabbed the micro. There is a keyboard mode using the switch on the bottom and the 8bitdo program software saves to the device you only need it for the initial mapping. It also supports multiple key inputs to single button so you shouldn't need joy to key. Might simplify the set up a bit!
I've actually been using the Zero 2 from 8bitdo forever for the same reason (I got it before the mini came out). Obviously there are pros and cons between the two, but the main two are the shape and the R2 and L2 buttons. (It's also $5 cheaper, but that's not that much of a difference.) I always found the contour of the Zero 2 perfect for resting in the palm of my hand. And the two additional buttons I can't see myself using too much because they'd be too small, the main way I hit the LB is by pushing the controller into my palm. That's the main difference I noticed between how I hold it and how you hold your controller. You hold it with the bumpers facing away from your palm, and hold it with your thumb resting on the bottom buttons. I tend to grip it in its entirety with my thumb resting on the top buttons, it's generally more secure in my grip and my arm tends to rest not needing to hold the controller straight. Ultimately a matter of preference, but it's cool to see more people picking up a controller to use for macros.
I love this thing. I've been using the company for years cause of my disability which is physical this controller helped me out so much. So anybody who wants to buy it I say do it! It's worth it
I've always considered getting a shortcut device but there's so many that are just oddly expensive. I didn't consider I could use a game controller as one. WAAAAAAAY cheaper and fits in much better with my vibe!
Love the artwork. Gives very Kingdom Hearts/Twewy vibes! This is a super creative use for that little controller. I know Linus Tech tips for years has been using one as a remote for his teleprompter lol. If you're looking for a digital art specific controller I'd recommend looking into XP-Pen mini keydial and the Xence labs quick keys. Both are options of little programmable macro pads that are small enough to be easy to be handheld. I also personally have a Huion KD-100 which has done wonders for me
ayy thank youu!! im actually working for an indie game right now and one of their main references is twewy, so maybe that's showing in my personal work too? hehe

Love the art, and definitely will be getting that remote haha. I was wondering how to colors on the huion tablet is? I've been using my iPad as a replacement but would love to have a bigger screen, as well as having accurate colors hah.
AH the 8bitDo mini reminds me of the tourbox neo, but much smaller and easier to hold!! I wish it had a dial thingy though (at least for the artist version if they made one for specifically artists) since I find changing the brush size is easier with a dial/twisty thing haha! ALSO I adore the line-art on this piece, its so organic!! If it's ok, do you have the clip studio code for that brush??
@@milkywaes AHH THANK YOU!! also yes omg, the tourbox neo is really nice but I always have it on my desk and not my lap! (It's heavy too, but still ery good and has tons of different types of keys and slidey twisty things, I do recommend it!)
i knoww, they do have other models for mini controllers like the one in this video, with analog sticks, but i didnt get to try them out so cant guarantee anything :,) it looks like it would work though, because i was able to use my joycons analog sticks just fine! but maybe not with joytokey, i cant seem to get it to work like a camera pan, only up, down, left and right, even with analog sticks :/

What do you do to prevent the controller from going into sleep mode? Every time I want to use a shortcut; i first have to turn the controller on... It's not ideal. How do I fix this? I've used both 'sleep' options in the app, but none fix this problem.
