- Self-made fashion designer Joe Freshgoods and Cliff have been friends for quite some time. The bedrock of their friendship? Food! Each time the guys link up in their respective cities, their first point of order is to share all the new, delicious, and local spots. For Detroit, Cliff takes Joe to Chef Tiffiany’s where he gets his jerk chicken fix and then for dessert they head over to Chef Cherelle’s for some of the best cheesecake they’ve ever had.
Chop it up with chef Cliff Skighwalker on our new series “InstaChef”! Cliff and his celebrity friends tour the country to take a deep dive into the underground food scene. There’s a network of chefs in America who are delivering food to people strictly through Instagram. Folks cook food in their house, post what they’re making on Instagram, and sell it to customers who come by. And these people aren’t trend-seeking foodies taking vanity glamour shots on Instagram, but former line cooks, restaurant workers, and home chefs taking success into their own hands to make a better life for themselves and their family. A great perspective on Detroit to start the episode, beyond the episode just being great in general. I think food shows don't do this enough. They empty the food culture of a certain space of struggle, of culture, and of people. You see it most in food shows in and about New York that hyperfocus on gentrifying restaurants. Love InstaChef, love the host.
