John even got to play guitar on stage with Eddie Van Halen. John is such a humble gentle guy, Amazing guitarist, and great vocals as well. Thanks for the decades of entertainment, it's a pleasure listening to you play the guitar .
very well done, as usual with JN :) I always liked how he never gave a thought to 'neoclassical' playing. Amazing vibrato, top notch tone, and a melodic style. That's how it's done. That's all the technique one will ever need for rock music.
this era Norum was a die hard fan of les paul maybe from 1999 to 2005 on 2006-present he also played a Fliying V and on 2014 (Wings from Sweden show the 20th anniversary of "Wings of Tommorrow " , playing with his Fender Stratocasters 1965, 1972 both yellow /cream white , that strats the sound was amazing , later John get a Paoletti guitars (from Italy made of old wine barrels and now he get another strat like 1972 style but another brand not Fender is a J on the headstock like a signature ,and comeback to Start from the Dark record and tour he was inspired by Zakk Wylde a lot and some standard tuning songs like the Europe setlist jamming like Gary Moore baybe on this era he haved Gary Moore and Zakk Wylde in his mind . If John someday picks a Ibanez 7 or 8 strings guitar must be insane , but he´s more a vintage guitar player .
Yeah, awesome Marshall sound, so full and rich and still full of nuances, not just buzzing like hell without giving anything back. I would buy right away if I would found amp like this with that sound and especially light weight and small size. Size doesn't always matters, right?
You can buy this amp very easily and cheaply. It will not make you sound like John Norum. The tone is from his technique, plus the guitar, pickups of course. All play a part in the tone, but mainly his skill as a player. Just goes to show you don't need an expensive amp for great tone.
@@Ineedahandle75 I totally agree. I have some guitar students who have very expensive gear, but don't yet have the skills to make it sound good. Tone really is in the fingers!
I always have my Black star fly battery powered ( 6xAA) 2 channels, delay. I'll be playing along with the radio or phone sitting in my car at the supermarket parking lot. People trip out when the walk by seeing the amp up on the dashboard. It's cool that as the batteries get weaker you lose volume but not the tone.
@@ainsleystones4600 look how long it usually takes a guitarist to learn how to do a decent bend, hold or release? Then add vibrato. Playing along with and practicing songs that have a lot of that is what helped me. Vibrato is like squeezing more out of the note. It's feel. I knew s guy who used tablature to learn songs and it never sounded good. It sounded exactly like it looks on the tablature. Such and such note 15th fret , bend 2 stepson up , release and do on. Sounded like speaking in monotone. If you heard him play the intro to" scorpions, no one like you" you'd probably cringe.
It's a Marshall MG15 DFX. 15 Watt solid state. Anyway it's John Norum, the tone is in his fingers. Getting that amp won't get you that tone. It IS a cracking practice /warm-up amp though. Very underrated little amp.
@@Ineedahandle75 ...I dont know how one would mod solid state MG DFX series. Maybe any of those overdrive floor pedals with a 12ax7 tube. There are a few out there. I have the original Radial Tonebone with tube in it also. It does wonders with my DSL-100s clean channel gain. Can use it backed off on dirty channel also. I recommend anyone with a combo amp to own a tc electronics MojoMojo. Best bang for $$$. Adds balls to your tone bigtime. Ask Paul Gilbert🤗

John Norum is not underrated! he's rated one of the best!
Exactly!
I think I know what is ment. Like he isn't underrated but he is less talked about tha the other 80s shredders
That vibrato is out of this world ! Warren demartini and him are my fav player ever !
Warren, tasty, fluid blues. The outro on round and round.
Yes..this is just a warm up and he's shredding like a boss..John is a beast of blues rock licks!
John Norum shreds in new documentary
Yeah, he says he's stiff, but he still sounds amazing. And this is just a warm-up.
Damn right!
Such an underrated guitar player. Love his phrasing and tones. Another legend ripping through a Marshall! \m/

Great phrasing, touch, vibrato, and tone.
That criteria means more to me than notes per second. Gary Moore fits that also.
Very tasteful and classy playing, and that was a warm up! And on top of that it's all so effortless. Norum is a true master of his craft.
I LOVE ❤️ LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS VIDEO 📹!!!!!!!
John is my guitar hero 🤟🔥🔥🔥
He has outstanding skill in vibrato.
Very cool guy and guitarist.
10 years, 1k likes only. . Time and season for everything. . Nevertheless. . His music lives for ever
For the love of God why does on every guitar video has to be one comment saying “he’s so underrated”.
Northern legend.
Great player 🔥
Not bad tone for an amp you can pick up for £25 on Ebay lol. Tone is in the fingers!

:D
Isn't the singer of europe good guitar player too?
He can play guitar but I think he's not really into it.
Not that much, he can play fine like rhythm guitar, but he's not so much into lead.
What's that Marshall?
Seriously, that thing sounds bad-ass
It's not the amp, it's the player...but if you must know it's a Marshall MG15 DFX. £50 on Ebay, maybe less
