- Who is better? Let me know in the comments below!
In my opinion, I think John is the better guitarist because his style of playing is very improvised. He likes to add little touches while playing. On the other hand, Kee is more of a proficient guitarist. He plays the songs exactly how they play them which was good for the time we did Out Of This World and Prisoners In Paradise. It suited him well there however, I just favor John's playing but both are very solid guitarists!
This video got more views than I expected!!! Love these discussions in the comments about who is better!! Thanks for watching guys & ROCK THE NIGHT!!!
That is a really cool question. Cool but hard.😁
Thanks for posting.👏
"Yeah, Let's Rock The Night together, shall we ?"🎸🤩👍
They are both GREAT guitar players. I m a fan of John Norum since I was a child, but Kee Marcello is also amazing. It 's s hard to say who is better.
John is a fine player, but I was legitimately blown away the first time I heard a Kee Marcello solo in a Europe song.
We’re talking about this video.
Norum is great, but Kee did an amazing job in Out of this world album, one of my favorites of all times.
I think my favorite solo of all time is superstitious, there's only one of the solo from Helloween I'm alive, that I think you can even compare to the solo on superstitious 💯
Totally agree😊
Superstitious solo and .... MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE solo !!!. Kee is thecnical superior
OMG!!! his solo in More than meets the eye is phenomenal ... I don't like it when John plays it 🤦♀️@moisesmvera
@@nivras16 And..."Just the beginnin'" solo?
Both great players in their own style..I don't have to choose a favorite, love them both.
Kee is playing in another league🎸🎸🎸
Both are superb guitarist for sure! John is the original and so there's alot of love and the fact that he's long back in the fold will make the purists happy! That said, Key came in, did a fab job and kept Europe running for a good while, well I'll always be grateful for that and his work on out of this world stands up for itself! Both are talented gentlemen with their own merits! I'm thankful for both of them! 👏👏👏
Kee Marcello hands down. IMHO.
If he's so great then search for rock of 80s the final countdown nyhetsmorgon and watch the solo
@@Hurricaneband-u6uThis
@@Hurricaneband-u6u Thank you. Incredible and very personal rendition, I didn't know that footage. Yet, have you noticed there's something weird happening at 2:46 ? What you hear does not fit what you see... Kee's fingers keep performing what is obviously an arpeggio but the sound is one sustaining note. Very bizarre.
Both are fantastic! Kee for the tecnic , john for the melodic lines that remains in my mind forever!
Both gave us awesome material
The original guitarist, John Norum ❤️😘
Dos grandes guitarristas, EUROPE forever 🇪🇦🇪🇦
Both have totally different styles. Norum is bluesy and classic Heavy Metal oriented while Kee is from Van Halen school, so he masters many great techniques. They are just different, no one is above the other.
@@interestingthings8598 VH school?? Van Halen style...thats what it means...you didnt know that??
@@wnorforaneo9821 Because he doesn't even play like "Van Halen style" like West Coast American players did.
Those would be players like Warrren DeMartini or George Lynch or Paul Gilbert if we're talking about someone with a similar technical level.
Kee's style is very continental European. There's a Glam twist to it, but to me it sounds more "East Coast" than Van Halen.
Exactly!
and Kee can play as bluesy as anyone on the planet
@@wnorforaneo9821by the way John Norum played Van Halen "Eruption" solo in Stockholm show in 1994
Al igual que Out of This World. Igualmente Wings of Tomorrow.
Outstanding out of this world like the album masters
Why not John AND Kee instead of John VS Kee? This is not a competition...
Exactly
That's the zeitgeist 😑
John is better at some things and Kee is better at others, all round they are both stunning players and both seriously underrated, but one of them is not better than the other.
ruclips.net/video/0j_LNqwjsY4/видео.htmlsi=l_IokCTUDebTD_Uj I was fortunate enough to experience this live. Sadly i have very low hopes that it will ever happen again.
@@joeyabuki3550And Key won.
Kee's the man
I love John. But in my opinion, Kee uses more different techniques. Like Tapping, legato licks, sweeping, etc. which we dont see at John´s playing. John also plays scales up and down and phrases of it, while kee is more melodic, and also uses different modes.
Agree 100%
Agree.
Idk what you're talking about. In this video itself, I saw John sweeping, and Alternate Picking. In terms of melody, both have great melodies, but I think Kee is a bit more technical
I agree. technical point of view, Kee is a great while John has more hard rock and bluesy feelings , I mean John can play speedy songs easily but less technic oriented playing but more song oriented.
John plays from the heart and that what counts in my book.
Who made Europe explode and is still in the band ? JOHN NORUM
I love Kee for his contributions to Europe, but he did Easy Action really great and it was more what he was made for, in my opinion.
Sres l9s 2 son unos geniossss con la guitarraaaa. Los amo a los 2 ❤😊
Both players are amazing...shred masters!
Lindos! Os melhores!!!
Both are fantastic players. Norum made "Final Countdown album", my favorite one
Its hard to say who is the best. Thats why both of them should have been in the band when they reunited in 2004. That would have been fair.
Both are absolutely iconic guitars 😎💯
Fan of both !
Ambos son espectaculares 😍 pero me encanta John 😍
I am from Southern India. Both players are extremely talented. I've noticed one thing.. Key Marcello doesn't use pinkie finger much on fret board. ❤😂😅
Why do I have to choose one? I prefer to enjoy both with their own style, they are both amazing
Norum's playing takes the best parts of Gary Moore and Michael Schenker with his own unique spin on it - a style that was one of the keys to The Final Countdown's success, and thus why we all know the band Europe today. Marcello admitted that he wasn't even a fan of Europe's music before he joined. He was just a hired gun, not a true fit for Europe's sound, but he did well nonetheless. Kee isn't in the same universe as John.
Yeah, as far as a guitarist Kee plays on a much higher level
@@andreaslechner9576 That's nonsense. Any real Europe fan knows that they were an inferior band with Kee in it. He messed up the chemistry (which is what Ian Haugland once said) and the band lacked fire and passion without John. Kee's solos are nothing compared to John Norum's. Norum's playing fits Europe's sound. If Kee played at a higher level they would've kept him, and he wouldn't spend all his time bad mouthing Europe and doing terrible covers of their hit songs.
@@dougmasters4579 It's not nonsense, I've seen what Kee can do, went to school with his brother. What suited Europe best is just subjective, and it's no surprise that John fitted Europe very well as he grew up with the band. John was not a big fan of the lifestyle though.
@@MrMvidz It's not subjective. It's a fact. Europe broke America and then the entire world thanks to the partnership of Tempest & Norum on The Final Countdown album. Norum didn't just grow up with the band, he actually founded it with Joey, and they built their sound up together over many years before TFC became a hit. Their chemistry is basically Europe's entire sound, and Joey has said this on many occasions - he calls it 'the fire'. Joey flew to LA and begged John to rejoin Europe after he left them. What does that tell you?
Kee was never a true member of the band. He, like many rock musicians, has an ego which tells him that Europe was successful because of him. The fact is they were far weaker with him in the band, so much so that they only lasted two albums with Kee before Europe split up.
@@dougmasters4579 Did you read this or do you have an actual relationship with the band members or people around them? They put the band on ice as they realized that grunge was going to make them obsolete, which happened to so many bands. It was a good decision back then. I followed them here in Sweden from being just another talented local band, winning a band contest and so on. Clearly, Joey and John was a special combination, but while Joey was more extrovert, John was quite the opposite. Kee was from my hometown, some 400 miles north of Stockholm, so he didn't grow up with these lads - BUT - his relationship with Joey started earlier as they did a project together and when John quit, Joey didn't have to audition a ton of guys, he knew Kee would fit the bill.
I have to choose very handsome John Norum gifted with great vocals and guitar playing with passion and extraordinaire unique melodic sounds. 🎸🎤💯🎶👍👏♥️♥️🌹
Europe 4 ever
Both are amazing and over the top
Kee marcello best guitart world...
KEE MARCELLO
TOTAL PERFECCIÓN❤❤❤
Love the footage.. though I don’t compare as they are so different but both amazing. It’s a disservice to split hairs between them. I saw Kee live in 87 and hope to see John before he retires
I think a comparison that would make sense is to listen to the final countdown & Out of this world album (perhaps also prisernas in paradise) songs live. Correct me if I'm wrong but did not Marcello play it more like Norums records but when Norum did a comeback he often improvised/changed it on Marcellos solo?
I like them both.
What’s the song name of John Norums tune???
Which song John is playing ? This is great
Kee is probably technically a better player. But they’re both great. I don’t prefer either, they both played great, melodic solos. The musicianship in Europe was always really good.
I rather prefer Kee Marcello from the start I've heard him on "Out of this world" because is much more inventive, sparkling, melodic, ballsy than John Norum which, I'm sorry to say, he's rehashing more of the same tunes from "The Final Countdown" until now. I love them both but...
does anyone knows the name of the song that Norum is playing? by the way, someone have the link of the full live show?
Aphasia, an instrumental taken from the 1984 Europe album Wings Of Tomorrow.
There’s a live show on RUclips called Europe live in Stockholm 1986
It's the live version of Aphasia. ruclips.net/video/C43TFZECZTE/видео.html
Marcello igual a Malmsteen???
Agree that both guitarists are superb. Their styles are different - John has a bluesy style and plays with more feel and emotion. Kee has a more technical style and plays with speed and structure. Personally I think John's style suits Europe's music better. I also favour John's solo work over Kee's projects.
Music is all about your preferences. Yes there are good and bad musicians, however comparing two professionals like Kee and John is really not about who is the best guitar player. In this video I prefer Johns solo over Kees even if "the flight of the bumblebee" is a true testament to Kees skill and speed. I've always prefered Kees playing, the solo he wrote for the song superstitious. It's magical!
They are incredibile musicians. But John touches in dept my heart.
KEE MARCELLO ES EL MEJOR !!!!!!
What happened to kee marcello?
Cant decide between the two. Both are masters
JOHN NORUM
Thanks 🙏 for this video, this duel will always be controversial
What is name jonh Norum plays guitar song?
Aphasia, from album wings of 2mrw
Both are great; it's just like discussing about DAve Murray and Adrian Smith; it's senseless comparing them; both great guitars, both different styles; it would be great that Europe release one album with both of them !!
Sorry to Norum's fans, but for me, Kee Marcello always! 🥇
Kee is my guitar hero and nothing will change that
👍👍👍👍👍👋👋👋👋👋👋❤️❤️
Lets not forget the amazing playing that John provided Don Dokken's solo album. Kee is an extremely versital player and killer guitarist as well.
Also Billy White is great on that album!
Up From The Ashes(1990)
Kee's so energetic 💪
I'm certainly more into the style of John Nourm than that of Kee Marcello - but both are great Guitarists!
it is 3 of them Kee MarcelloJohn Norum, and Yngwie Malmsteen, no one is better than the other just different styles, and all of them are just awesome in their own way. My Favorite tho is Gary Moore(R.I.P.).
First come first. John 👍
Os 2 São top very good
first song??
Aphasia
Kee
Norum. Norum toca con mas sentimiento y mas clase .
Love both.
I also think Kee is avery under-rated guitarist.
Easy choise for me,the original guitarrist John Norum of course.make theres sound etc.
No match here, kee Is unreachable, Much more variety, style, flow and tecnique 😎🔝💖
John Norum is the guy who made me want to pick up a guitar. His phrasing and technique is phenomenal. Kee is a complete different type of musician. A great player and his speed and technical ability is amazing,.
However, I go for Norum hands down. He has moved with the times. Kee is a shredder which seems to have stayed within his style up until this day, which isn't a good thing.
Still love them both to death though.
I thought John was really damn fast but Kee was even much more furious.Look how his fingers flying through the fretboard
Kee sounds truly a guitar wizard just technical difficulties all over blown away \-/ John is all feel and blues jam both obviously great .
I much prefer John Norum.
Ambos sacaron buenos solos
Kee Marcello brought metal riffs to Eüröpe after John Norum sudden departure
SIGN OF THE TIMES 🤘🏻
for me i like more kee marcello playstyle songs such supertitious,, prisoner in paradise and let it good time rock really blown my mind awy.. 🤯
O solo do Norum é autoral. Principalmente Ninja. Ele nunca conseguiu tocar.
Kee is a great talent, but I always have and always will prefer to listen to John. His playing has so much more feel and can "move" me in so many ways. I'd listen to John's playing on Angels with Broken Hearts any time over any of Lee's shedding. Kee is great, but not the one I prefer.
Haha, John is a sloppy pentatonic player. Kee is lightyears before John.
Kee Marcello is like Carlsberg beer.... Probably The Best ..... in the World!!
Did you know all the beers in the world???... Carlsberg is one of the worst beer !!! (Dupa mintea ta, Vasile)...
Except Carlsberg is a really bland beer ...
Kee Marcello.......The Best guitar!!!
I really don't know who's better they both are really talented I actually don't know😂🤘🎸🇸🇪
São 2 grandes guitarristas. O norum. Nessa apresentação nesse tema. Eu achei mais armoniozo.
Started listening to Europe with my Cuz, he prefers John, I prefer Kee. I think it is down to the listener, otherwise they on same level but different.
Why not compare them playing the same song? Its kind ridiculous to compare them playing diffrent songs!
❤
ya guys that compare Kee & john, listen to them live play each others original solos thats the analys that makes most sence!
This proves a simple formula that I use to determine who is the better player. Example: Kee Marcello can play anything that Norum can. Going the other way: Unfortunately, as good as Norum is, he cannot play Kee’s more difficult solos. Therefore, Kee is the better player.
I prefer Kee but both are among my fav players of all time.
For me it's definitely Jon. Kee is definitely technically a great player, but I just don't feel what he's playing and feeling for me it's the most important thing when it comes to music.
