- installation, setup, and review of the newly released WYZE garage door controller, bundled with the WYZE cam V3
please note that for larger and longer vehicles, you may want to place the QR code higher up on the garage door.
thanks for the video. I am curious though with the big QR code on the door where you have it, when the car is inside the garage doesn't the car block the cameras view of that QR code and render the opener not able to see the door is closed?
For my vehicle it isnt a problem due to the depth of the garage stall, but for larger/longer vehicles you may want to place it farther up, that is true.
understood. you may want to edit your vid to mention the concept to viewers@@greezygoblin
@@eswords1 I'll add it to the description. Thanks!
This was a great help, thank you!
Of course!
Thank for your video help a lot.
Glad I could help!
I read to put the camera away from the actual garage door opener but apparently it still works okay. Supposedly it messed with the hand held remote control.
Interesting, I have had no problems with my current door opener, and I use both interchangeably. Maybe your brand/model is different :)
I'm curious...I installed my Wyze Garage Door controller and V3 cam but as of yesterday I no longer see the little button in the app allowing me to open/close the door. I called Wyze yesterday. What a waste of time that call was. I deleted the cam and garage door controller and started fresh. Still, no access to open/close the door in the app. The V3 cam works but not the controller. Thoughts?
Do you have the QR code Installed on the garage door? Also, make sure you have the splitter cable wired correctly.
Can u pls send us the link where you bought it from and how much it cost. Thanks 😊
sure! I bought it directly from Wyze but I know that it is also available on Amazon, Best Buy, and Micro Center; and the bundle is $55. if youd like to lower the cost, I suggest buying the wyze cam V3 used. thanks!
I like the Larry lawton hat
Thanks!
what will ha?ppen if your car block qr code ?
If your car blocks the QR code, I believe that the controller and camera will still work, you won’t be able to get status notifications, or it might just say that it is always open. I would suggest placing the QR code where you know the car will not block it, or try moving the camera to a different location, perhaps using a USB extension cable. Thanks!
When I installed mine, I didn't want that big QR code on my garage door all the time, so I put it up there temporarily just to calibrate the camera/device (required), then removed the QR code sticker. Everything works the same, but I assume that I will not get notifications (I never turned notifications on...cause I don't want them).
@@KenMurphyTX that’s great, thanks for the Info!
you can move the QR code a litter bit to the upper part of your garage door.
how long are the wires? i want to put the camera on the wall opposite to my garage door. The distance between my garage door opener unit and the wall is 13 ft. Can I be able to do this?
The included wires I believe stretch to around 3ft, but Adding a micro USB extension cable would allow for that to work! (Since Micro USB connects the controller to the camera). Thanks!
How close does the camera need to be to pick up the QR code?
I’m not sure exactly, but you can check the product page! The graphic they have posted looks great is quite far away, so you could go based on that. Thanks!
Is there a setting to turn on/off the closing/opening alarm?
There is not. I am considering making a shroud so that the light does not shine out of the windows. You could also use duct tape on the controller as well as something on the back of the camera on the speaker, although I can’t recommend it :)
I noticed that when you open the garage door thru the wyze app, there was no opening alarm tone and blinking light from the controller. The alarm tone and light only happens when closing the door. Is that correct? Regarding the wiring, can you tell me again which wires goes to what on the back of the garage door opener machine. Or it doesnt matter if you wire it interchangeably?
@@jettskii6176 you are correct that the sound and light only activate when closing the door. Regarding the wiring, the red wire goes to the red wire, and the black wire goes to the white wire, you can also find a manual for your specific opener regarding the wiring, that may help :)
@@greezygoblin Thanks for your help! I hope you do a review of the controller after a week. Tell us if there are problems/issues you have come to encounter with the product.
@@jettskii6176 I’ll tell you right now, no issues! Also, new Wyze video coming soon, stay tuned ;)
I see you have windows & the draw rope to release the garage. Please for the sake of your families safety & thief remove that rope. Thieves will fish a wire & pop that door. They do it with no windows. I know cause it happened to me.
Thanks for the tip, bit I'm in a pretty safe place :) sorry to hear that happened.
@@greezygoblin Thank you & you're welcome. I was in a safe place too. The thieves are targeting those areas more. I guessing you live in a gated community though.
So do you need to just have a big ass QR Code stuck do your garage door permanently now? Lol
The QR code I found out is only for the open/close detection/notifications. Every other aspect works without it :)
@@greezygoblin damn ok. Thanks
No problem!
