Great! I was waiting for this review! The 3060 i3-8100T is great, I also have installed my 1TB batocera image on one of these and was very pleased with the performance.
I’m struggling to get this level of performance but then again I am booting from an external mechanical harddrive. I have ordered another 8gb of ram so I’ll see if that makes a difference. If not, may invest in a new internal ssd… Useful video, thanks!
@@LewisVideoArchive the dive speed should have effect on the game performance other than quicker boot times. A few tweaks on certain systems boosts performance particularly ps3. Extra 8gb and using both ram slots should make a difference 😁
I installed Batocera 38 on a 300gb external hd. But after I flashed Batocera to the drive, all I see is a 6gb partition. Can you tell me how I can make a 2nd partition with the remaining 294gb space on the drive? Also, if I put all my game roms in that 2nd partition, how do I let Batocera know here they are?
Anyone know if Switch emulation is working decently on this i3-8100T? Either through Batocera 37/38 and Yuzu emulator, and /or another method? Wouldn't expect games like BOTW running smoothly at 30fps, but maybe or easy medium to emulate games like Mario Wonder, etc.
Is it worth upgrading to the 8500T cpu? I've watched your other video reviewing the 8500t but is it worth the £35 upgrade in your opinion from the 8100T?
I’m running just Batocera. It boots straight to batocera system. With zero tweaking GameCube runs most games brilliantly and ps2 at 2x resolution. Try using 2 ram ddr’s rather than one if not already. It can lift performance a little. My hard drive is just a sata.
My previous answer was using the Optiplex 3020. Here's my settings on my 3060 - System Settings - Audio Output = AUTO Audio Profile = HDAINTEL PCH DIGITAL STEREO (HDMI) OUTPUT
Looks like it runs ps3 better than my i7 6700T (6th gen) The i3 8100t might not have multi threading but base clock is 3.1ghz vs my i7 2.8ghz, plus the intel graphics is better too. Guess all that makes more of a difference. I did try 360 as well but defo a no go for me. Wonder how well this i3 can run namco 246/256? But youd need Batocera v38 for that. So far v38 runs fine for me.
Yes PS3 is performing a little more than a i5-7500T. PS2 runs slightly better too as do other higher end systems, GameCube, Wii, Xbox etc. It’s 360 capabilities are very thin but at least it can touch them. Somewhat surprised.
@@HumanoidMachines and this is just by updating to v38? I've just been too lazy to do mine as I need to delete something to allow room for the update! Cheers Ade
Does i3 7100t and i3 8100t have similar performance in emulation (up to ps2/gc/xbox)? I'm planning to get myself an used optiplex for batocera build but the problem in my region is i3 8100t optiplexes cost twice as much as i3 7100t (160USD vs 70USD). Consider the kaby lake is higher clocked compared to coffee lake, same uhd 630 igpu, but having less cache size, is picking i3 7100t make sense on this case (for pure batocera/linux emulation build)?
The 8100t is a better performer over the 7100t and it is noticeable but the 7100t is very good with ps2 and GameCube. For the money it’s a steal, you won’t be disappointed
@@HumanoidMachines Thanks for your video, managed to get myself hp g4 (i5 6500t) that friend of mine offered for the price around ~70USD. So far ps2 ran flawless on this setup. Quite happy for the price/perf ratio.

It’s really good, way past my expectations. I also got the 3060 i5-8500T waiting in the wings 😁

Those higher clock speed does make a lot fo difference, still emulating PS3 and 360 is a no go, that screen tearing as well.

It is better but there is not a lot between them . You see more difference in ps3 but not much with other consoles.
What is your setup? I have the exact same pc but i am having trouble with ps2 and gamecube games.
Im running launchbox/ bigbox along with reteoarch

Hi. Is this Batocera 38, or did you revert back to Batocera 37?
Batocera 37…. Had a few problems with 38 so I’m sticking with 37 until I’m sure it’s ok 👍
I have the Optiplex 3060 with i3-8300T and I try to run Batocera 38, but I have no audio via HDMI. How are your AUDIO settings?
Try this. System settings - Audio Output = Built in HDMI & Audio Profile = Auto
