Everyone should practice while using a guitar strap seated or standing. It helps with freedom of movement.

Or learn how to levitate the guitar like in the call of duty Avenged sevenfold cutscene

I've played this way (fretting-hand leg) for forty-five years; basses, electric and acoustic trebles.
I tried the alternative (picking-hand leg) a while ago on advice from an 'expert', and it didn't end well. Back in my comfort zone. Besides, the classical postion puts the guitar where it hangs when you stand to play when performing.

My fret wrist starts to burn after 30min or so. I will try anything at this point!

I've been playing with a mini acoustic, doing well with barre chords (which are difficult for me), but when I recently tried my electric guitar I struggled to do barre chords that used to be okay. My arms are not long, so I need to get my frets closer to where my hands are. This advice might help. Thanks.

Perfectly correct that's how I've always played.

That was awesome...I have a question. When starting to learn cover songs or write songs that you need to catalogue for recall when playing live, what program & process do you use to ensure things remain easy for recall?

I don't think a > $1500 Strandberg that was designed and built for that position illustrates what most of us are playing. Please Show us how to play a full size, 3.5" thick acoustic .the lower bout will not rest on any leg,

Good advice. I have a bad back, too, and not as mobile as I was when younger. I use a strap for each guitar and bass, while sitting down. I do try to hold the guitar in the classic position, in front of my body.

It doesn't look as macho as doing the vulture slouch (don't forget the sneer) & holding your guitar below your knees while assuming a ridiculous stance of keeping your legs 4 feet apart, but it works. Hahahaha! 👍

John Wooden, the greatest college basketball coach ever, spent one whole day teaching his players how to put on their socks, how to lace their shoes, and how to tie them. There are some fundamentals that are key.

FOR FREE, what do you have to be upset about?
How cool is it that you get to block/unsubscribe what does not serve you. There are players and there are teachers. Some have the gift of teaching, some of playing. Some can play but not teach - while some can teach well, but not play well. Infrequently, does an advanced musician have the talent/gift to impart what he knows to others wo pride or arrogance interferring. Please consider whether or not you could find better instruction FOR FREE & spend your time more wisely elsewhere. If you do, please tell us of your discovery. You get to choose what is best for you. To create divide with unpleasant & undeserved speak encourages no one. Please go >>> find your own way. I have actually invested $$ in Breakthrough Guitar ... & find it a good-great value. NO COMPLAINTS HERE.
