Adjusting the Shift Cables on a Ferrari 360 or F430

- This will work on the Ferrari 360 and F430 as well. Adjusting the shift cables is fairly simple but it's tedious and takes a lot of minor adjustments, followed by checking and re-checking if it works better or worse. Basically, guess and check.

My factory 2000 360 manual was always a bit rough 1 to 2 when it was first going. It wasn't until it was at temp and rolling for 3-4 minutes that it would smooth out. After that, it was awesome.
Yeah I think a lot of manual transmissions are not really happy until warmed up
my 360 is the same way, especially when going from 2nd to 1st
Thanks guys, she’s a joy to drive.
You're welcome
Did you follow the complex procedure in the Workshop Manual for the blue brake pedal position switch? It's not plug and play. The switch itself has about 8 detents/clickstops. No bracket bending should be required! If you pull/push hard enough, you can feel them. I think half the problems with these brake switches is people not fitting them properly. I've been told a properly fitted one leaves a gap between the back of the pedal and the switch button of about 4mm (engine running) when the brake pedal is pushed to the floor.
Was about to write the same comment. No bending required, please. There is a procedure in the Workshop manual. This is an "adjustable switch"...
Interesting. Was not aware
Your wrenching videos are always fun and interesting, congrats on fixing it. Though, in this case I don't get why you attempt it yourself, spending hours to fine-tune a shifter while you have best relations to _the_ manual experts in the state.
We like to learn and understand how to do it ourselves, it’s good to add to the knowledge bank
I wanted to learn how to do it
What specifically are you adjusting for this? How does it work?
The shift cables have an eyelet that attaches to the shift arms
@@normalguysupercar Oh interesting! Thanks for the insight
No pain No Gain 👍
Yup
Great job dialing it in !!! Congratulations Gabe, she is sweet !!!
Heck yeah
As a matter of interest, what is the thinking of adjusting there rather than from under the tunnel? I have just had an oil leak fixed in my gearbox and the shop has serviced the gearbox only to have adjusted them wrong now 😢 would it not be easier to fine tune adjusting at the gear shifter end rather than gearbox end?
You have to pull the console
Is the adjustment of the cables something that needs to happen every so often as they stretch, or was this just an “initial setup” type thing? Do the factory manuals have the same need for adjustment?
I believe so
Nice work!
Thanks!

I'm so oblivious I didn't even notice
I want a Lusso for a daily! I’d need a zillion dollars, but if I had the bucks, I’d have one. I’d also have a Portofino M!
The the Lusso and FF are really amazing cars
He came really close on those ramps! 😬
Yeah for sure
The FF’s front transaxle is mental? How stoned were Ferrari to make a front transaxle that’s not connected to the driveline?
Lol I know
Any new "good" offers on the Huracan?
Yes
Nice .. how it cost approximately to change F430 from auto gear to manual ? Thanks
About $35k
@@normalguysupercar thanks
Manual adjustments?!, where’s the AI?😂 Now you guys need a Lusso to compare
Yup
Where the heck is Josh the Mechanic?? Maybe by consulting him you can save some time...
They would have no profit if they called him everytime. It's his job he is not a volunteer
He's around but busy running his business.
wearing plastic gloves to drive this car reminds me of those families when i was growing up who would cover their furniture in plastic in the hopes of saving them forever. maybe this info could be passed to the owner!
Ha!
No wammies lol
