It's incredible how well Richard D James' compositions work in a live setting. Listening to the original tracks it's easy to get too focused on the technical side of things but renditions like this bring back the focus on the compositions themselves, which is very nice :). Very well done!

And this WAY before those music industry h@cks Domi & JD Beck started doing a cover of this recently at shows. 7 years to be exact. Bet you won't see any Shammy Awards or duets with Anderson Hack Demarco or other !lluminati! posers anytime soon tho. I have a general rule nowadays: If the Grammys or general pop misic industry is praising it, its sellout h@ck sh!t that probably also doubles as a rip off someone small/not 'in the club' as well.

Does anyone have any recommendations of stuff like this? New to jazz, and idk where to start. Idk if it helps but I really like this rendition bc of the bass player (all of the members are exceptional, but something about the way the bass sounds underneath the drums and piano, touches my soul)

Thank you! Yea, could be a bit of both. Nick is a killer bass player though, and everyone is absolutely taking some liberties here…when I mixed this video, my mixing chops weren’t what they are now (which I am still always trying to improve btw)…I could see myself making different choices with mix now…like maybe turning the bass down for starters…but, I have learned to appreciate this video (and others) as just part of the evolution of the things I’m doing. I really appreciate you checking it out! 🔥👊🔥
