Terrifying. Absolutely terrifying that our medical system could do this to a patient...to a family. I've been a Registered Nurse for 40+ years, worked many years in ICU/ER environments. I've seen this type of stuff happen. Certainly not to this extent but even on a much smaller scale, it is a nightmare for all those involved. I am so very sorry for Maya. The social worker, the doctor and other medical professionals involved in this case. They are incapable of doing their job. I just hope not just the hospital but also these people get the proper punishment. They tortured the family.
This is heartbreaking, because the mama thought taking herself out of the equation was the only thing she could do to get her baby home to get the care she needed!
@keiravanhanken4876 What's really f'ed up is that they let Maya go home soon after her mom died. The mom knew the hospital, nor the judge was not going to let her see her daughter nor let her go home anytime soon. I understand why she did it, though I don't agree that it was the only solution. She felt it was the only way her daughter would get to come home, and she was not wrong. She got to come home a lot sooner than she would have had Beata not died. She did it so that her daughter wouldn't die in that hospital, because they weren't giving her the correct treatment for her condition.
@@rationalcynic8416Yes, the mother understood how unsafe her child was in the care of such an abusive arrogant narcissistic gold digging psychopathic medical community. She gave her life to protect her child from said monsters.

These Drs overstepped in the most negligent way. What a sad tragic situation. My son and myself have a rare genetic disorder, been there with the suspicion by medical staff, “ it’s all in his head”. I have been accused of feeding into his hysteria by family. Sometimes the symptoms are legit. Not everyone is imagining or drug seeking!!! I hope this family gets justice!
So I had a severe fear of hospitals and didn’t want to be there anymore AND I was told my son was being discharged so while I did keep saying I wanted to go home I believed he was going with me. He ended up showing signs of gerd/reflux and I was discharged and he was kept. As badly as I wanted to go home I did NOT L EAVE THE HOSPITAL ONCE I STAYED IN THE WAITING ROOM UNTIL THEY DISCHARGED MY NEWBORN THE NEXT MORNING. they had already called CPS ON ME FOR ABANDONING MY CHILD BECAUSE NOT EVEN DRUG DEALING MOMS LEAVE WITHOUT THEIR CHILD. I had to have them interview me my family come to my home just to discharge my child that I never left.
They did this again at a new hospital when my son was repeatedly told he was having night terrors that were seizures and he started having them up to 15 times a day as a 4th grader. We took him to specialists … we had tons of appointments and even more set up……. But we were aggravating him and keeping him from school with night terrors when he literally was wide awake, screaming running and falling while soiling himself at school it’s insane.
@pennicochrane8886 Multiple doctors diagnosed her with her illness. It was not in Beata or Maya's head. You're a disturbed individual, and I hope you never have children. The hospital claimed they made it up but then charged the insurance company for CPRS treatment when they didn't treat her for it, because Sally Smith said it was made up, but three other specialists confirmed Maya had CPRS.
This hospital staff not only need to be fired. Their Licenses need to be Suspened. Or they will just find another health care facilities and keep on their evil practice.
Bankruptcy? 😂 And then imagine all the children who are left without a resource for care. All these comments thinking this girl is better than everyone else is repulsive. Her parents could have asked for another opinion before it got to being hospitalized. The medical doctors questioned the high dosage. What a heart breaking case, that clinic and the whole chain of people from top to bottom, who let this happen, should be prosecuted for their crimes. That's just awful. I'm about to tear up with the victim in the background around 12 minute mark. Heartbreaking, truly heartbreaking. She went through agonies, her mother took her own life to save her, her family is in intense grief, and above this all, some awful doctors who just couldn't read their own patient records, and officials who fully support them.
The woman in the background tearing up is Beata's daughter Maya. She suffered incredible pain followed by the loss of her loving mother. It's too much. What happened to them is so awful and the hospital cover up is truly evil.

Never blame the mother. She did everything she could. She love her daughter so much that she invested her whole self in knowing what's her daughter's illness. She's stressed and tired of these people separating her from her daughter. I hope this family gets the justice they deserve.
Oh, brother! When Mya's attorney said the nurses told Mya's priest that her "religious artifacts" were taken away because they believed Mya's mother had been controlling her through religion, that did it for me. This is a very woke/ultra liberal attitude and is not legal or should not be. Regardless of the nurses/doctors/hospital's attitude toward "religious beliefs", they had NO right to interfere with Maya's right to to practice her religion!! That tells me a whole lot about this hospital. The people dealing with Maya and her medical case were/are truly unhinged!!
Oh shut up with trying to bring politics into this. Nurses are almost always republicans, by the way. 🤦🏻♀️. Until you learn what “woke” actually means, rather than whatever right wing garbage you are feeding yourself, you really should try to stop talking about politics on social media. Maya I hope you win. You deserve to have your mom with you now. ❤ They need to stop accusing people and treating them like liars. First do no harm ! They seem to have forgotten that on their power trip..
My child was only 7 or 8 and I had to bring her to the ER for help. I walked in with her full medical file to show doctors SO THAT they wouldn’t react to her being out of control. ER doctor waved her little sick wand and then everything changed. Dr tried to send my baby girl away!!!! And if I refused I was told I’d lost rights to her. Sick stuff. It took me personally knowing a neurosurgeon on staff to get him to vouch for us and we were released.

The hospital ignored the family and family’s physician. They instigated this and perpetuated what happened next. Then they put CRPS in their diagnosis and billed the family thousands. Ms Sally Smith (doctor term is not applicable) knew she was treated for pain and had all her little minions do her bidding. Why? Mom asked too many questions! Maya and dad and Kyle should get every single penny plus a written apology from everyone involved.
I hope so, too. He talks like he just read over Maya’s case minutes before he spoke. I saw the Netflix documentary and have read about Maya’s case. Nevertheless, I’m having trouble following this attorney. He’s bumbling and stumbling his opening statement.
What do you want him to do put a Clown Suit on? Dull about death and destruction of a you woman's life if perhaps normal. It's not a circus or Law and Order its a serious FACT bases trial about profiteering over deaths.
These doctors, social workers and nurses, your there to help not accuse! I watched the documentary on this and let me say, money is not enough! This family needs JUSTICE!
I hope this family gets justice 😢 5 minutes in and I'm disturbed by the treatment of this hospital, unbelievable to think a whole medical team would act in this way and not one person tried to protect that little girl 😢😢😢
It took me half the video to realise the woman sitting there was Maya! 😮 Amazing it's taken this long to get to trial! What a terrible and tragic set of circumstances. Certain things you wouldn't believe until you hear it and this is one of them. I'm continually being disillusioned by the medical profession! It's eyes wide open because they're definitely not always on your side!
The hospital had it against the mother so bad. Since the mother was a nurse and had knowledge of the medical field and her daughter’s treatment, that bothered the doctors, since they had no clues about this diagnosis.
I wish they could put those doctors in prison, but she definitely deserves the full $200 million to send a message to hospitals not to tear families apart
Yes although they already have $250 million from the doctor lawsuit so I don’t think it’s necessarily even about the money but just holding the hospital accountable is important
The sheer number of people who have commented the same should be a wake-up call to the attorney (if he were ever to read this comment section, which he won't).
I’m not impressed with this lawyer’s preparation. He sounds like he just got debriefed on the facts of the case today. Maya deserves better preparation from her lawyers. I feel like I could have been more conversant in the facts of the case after watching the documentary.
I thought he pervade the contempt he had for the actions of the hospital with the timeline. I showed to me the utter ridiculousness of their actions compared to the completely appropriate actions of the family.
The staff was marking down she had no markings on days when her father was taking pictures of lesions? Falsifying medical records... Check... Patient neglect... Double check.
Im so sorry to Maya and her family! None of this should have ever happened! 😢 I myself have Fibromyalgia and many days its hard to even get out of bed or take a shower. Drs don’t even believe what you keep telling them over and over again. They force you to go through multiple tests and see multiple Drs to rule everything else out. I also have fibro and they refuse to give pain meds while we suffer and suffer . They believe its in our head, or nerve pain and they claim painkillers dont work. But the 1 dr that gave them until the dr died i had quality of life! No DR will properly treat a fibro patient.

Instead of them trying to figure it out they claim you cause it on purpose or that you magically put it in your chikd head, that you "exaggerate" symptoms!?? Who are they to determine what someone else feels in their body? They are not qualified to deduce that someone is exaggerating symptoms! They claim the "exaggeration" because their EGO was hurt when we put them in their place or insist that they do their job and help our children! ! They call that Dr shopping (when u try and get another opinion or try and find drs who will actually listen & have an open mind to help your child, we are accused of "Dr Shopping") which is absurd because not a single dr knew what my daughters disease was or how to treat it and 99.9% of Drs still dont since there is only 177 ppl worldwide thar have her disease. I cant help but think the role that ketamine has as a GENERIC drug had something to do with this. I myself have had problems getting it prescribed in small doses for treatment resistant depression and life crippling PTSD. The amount of ignorance that surrounds ketamine reminds me a lot of ivermectin. People will tell you it is "an animal tranquilizer" despite the fact that it was developed for battlefield surgery and is one of the MOST COMMONLY USED medications in hospital ER's across the world. I cant help but think if the mother had asked for them to prescribe her addictive big pharma BRANDED opioids this would have never happened. Doctors can't stand that someone might know better than them in some cases, especially when it comes to their own or a loved ones care.
The problem is the doctor doesn't get a kickback if they were to prescribe you ketamine, although now that spravato exists there are some that will. When my insurance wouldn't cover spravato prescribed by my doctor I asked her to prescribe me generic version from a compounding pharmacy and she looked at me like I was a criminal all of a sudden.@@Mataylor17
I just watched the series on Netflix, and I was taken aback by the arrogance of the hospital and social workers. Wow! Good for the family and congratulations to the jury for using common sense, in what was a classic case of an illusion of complexity.
I'm certainly no lawyer, but this lawyer appears to be a lousy one. Had I not already known o this story and I was a juror, I wouldn't be too impressed.
I find it so difficult to believe that this happened in America. I hope this is a lesson to other hospitals. Maya is an angel, but now she has to go through life without her mother. I feel so bad for her whole family. They all suffered.
I really feel for people suffering from CRPS and also fibromyalgia. They are such silent disabilities. Not knowing when it could flare up or if someone/your employer would actually believe you must be so horrific. I’m glad they got such justice too. RIP Beata.
I'm not saying that kids don't fake issues - but I find it hard to believe a 9 year old would fake anything that kept her from simply playing with friends. That's what kids want to do more than anything.
Beyond horrific!!! All involved should be criminally charged. I hope the jury comes back with an award far above and beyond the amt asked for. These tyrannical megalomaniacs need to never have the ability to do this to another breathing soul.
CRPS is no joke… I have it and when I have a flair it is awful. I can’t walk without excruciating pain, can’t have anything touch my leg, it feels like it’s on fire while looking like it’s a blue, pink, purple mottling, and then it triggers other autoimmune issues and I am a hot mess. I truly feel for this family and know what it’s like for doctors to look at me, utterly clueless, as to what CRPS is and that it must be fake.
I have crps after a car accident and after 20 different drs, surgeons, neurologist, a slew of tests and er visits, and losing 80 pounds and unable to work, finally was told 18 months later i had a torn rotater cuff and had surgery but crps is even more painful.
I honestly wish that lawyers could follow up on hospitals where children were separated/taken away from their parents and investigate if the hospitals intentions/actions were legit.
Interesting though that the hospital billed the parents insurance for 3 months of care with the VERY DIAGNOSIS (CRPS) they claimed she did NOT have and mom and daughter were making up.
I know it's not the same but I was diagnosed with GBS 6 years ago and no Dr could figure out what was wrong with me, until many tests were done and eventually a spinal tap, the things I was told before the diagnosis were insulting to say the least, turns out I got GBS from the flu shot.
Healthcare in this country is in shambles. I had a girlfriend that nearly died because she was denied treatment at a hospital when she was having severe abdominal pain. They thought she was a drug addict going through withdrawal. She was then taken to another hospital who identified that she used essential oiils improperly that caused severe kidney pain and, had she not been treated that evening, likely would have died from kidney failure. These arrogant know-it-alls who think they have the answers to everything, causing people lasting issues and, worst of all, dying as a result of their extreme negligence. And people wonder why I don't trust doctors. F the medical system and justice for Maya, Beata, and their entire family.
She is beautiful She sure looks like her Precious mother who gave up her own life so that her daughter could go home and get the treatments. Her mother did what a mother does when her child is having a medical emergencies and she had ever right to question things the hospital was doing. and by them not letting her go there to visit her child. This case made me so upset. Kids that should have been taken away from their abusers are given back to them and they end up unalived. yet these parents were doing everything that they could for her. she was not bruised or starved or anything that was abusive.. The attitude right now of those sitting on the other side of this faces say it all they dont care about this family and never had their best interests and this trial we will see that. This was such a heartbreaking story....
What bothers me about this case, and I pray somehow she makes it through this, is the possible guilt Maya may feel due to her illness seeming to be the cause of all this. This is the part that made me so sad. I really wish they would have let her mom see her at least one, even if it meant she would have someone sitting in the room with her as she spoke to Maya. This poor girl didn't get to see her mom at all. I guess the only comfort would be the phonecalls she had, but even those had to be brief. But I truly feel for Maya! I feel for this entire family. Everyone is clearly broken by the event. I have no doubt that justice will prevail, I truly believe this! But I truly wish this family finds peace when this whole thing is over. They deserve it.
what bothers me is everything. why are they making her sit through this. why do people think it takes 22 min to die from strangulation.... why any of this stuff? all of it bothers me.
why attach a saline line to yourself and then kill yourself? ...why do any of this knowing how it's going to impact your kid....all of this is SOOO dark.

I didn’t think about it this way.
It shocked me that the mom left her daughter when she needed her most. This makes sense though
That’s exactly what I told my daughter as we watched this! So sad 🥺
And the sad thing is she was kind of right! The fact that Maya was released from the hospital 6 days after her mother gave her life says a lot. Absolutely disgusting
What they did to that child and her family is disgusting.
Did anyone see the videos of Maya playing with her dog and her brother at home?
Look for that video!
There was something wrong with the mother! Munchousin by Proxy I say yes.
I truly hope everyone will be accountable financially
What that hospital did is despicable. I hope they win and bankrupt them.
Bankruptcy and jail time for all the doctors who dictated this this ‘treatment’
Completely agree. It’s so disgusting what they did.
Bankruptcy? 😂 And then imagine all the children who are left without a resource for care. All these comments thinking this girl is better than everyone else is repulsive. Her parents could have asked for another opinion before it got to being hospitalized. The medical doctors questioned the high dosage. If this medication had resulted in her death, all these supporters would be saying the hospital should have reported it.
@@rhondennis979 They have other hospitals. The hospital wouldn't release her and called cps on the parents even though they told them the situation multiple times. Maybe go ahead and learn something

She in conversations I've heard has been positive to Maya...
This case isn’t about liberals vs republicans. Get out of your cult and stop projecting. This case is about a horrific injury to an entire family.
It’s crazy because most hospitals have chaplains and chapels

Maya I hope you win. You deserve to have your mom with you now. ❤ They need to stop accusing people and treating them like liars. First do no harm ! They seem to have forgotten that on their power trip..
Even Hospitals are stealing children from parents!
They finally get their day in court! Bless this father for never giving up ❤

@@andrabook8758 imo I think Maya being in the background was a good reminder to the jury of the level damage the hospital did. That the mother felt like this was the only way she could free her daughter.

None of this changes the fact that this kid should not be enduring this trial right now... this is wrong on many levels. @@shaun5047

To opt for finding care somewhere where they wont gaslight you and will listen or a second or third opinion if you come across misinformed Drs, RN's ect..To Keep insisting something is medically wrong when they say their isnt because they dont know! So in retaliation for them not being able to figure it out & admitting they dont know and trying to refer you to someone who could help, they accuse you of munchausen by proxy! They punish you for daring to question them! And use all the same things that a loving parent would do as "Symptoms" of munchausen by proxy! Its diagusting! They destroy your soul, your family & they continue on forever claiming they were right! Even after medical evidence is shown to them that gee the parent was correct! They wont and cant admit they were wrong or that their EGO got in the way! MSBP isnt a real thing! And its absurdly overly used!

Nah, no medical practitioners will give you opioid painkillers anymore, either. They just want you to be in pain now and pretend everyone is faking.
The problem is the doctor doesn't get a kickback if they were to prescribe you ketamine, although now that spravato exists there are some that will. CRPS is no joke… I have it and when I have a flair it is awful. I have crps after a car accident and after 20 different drs, surgeons, neurologist, a slew of tests and er visits, and losing 80 pounds and unable to work, finally was told 18 months later i had a torn rotater cuff and had surgery but crps is even more painful.
Absolutely horrifying what happened to Maya and her family! Should there not be criminal charges?

I honestly wish that lawyers could follow up on hospitals where children were separated/taken away from their parents and investigate if the hospitals intentions/actions were legit.
Maya I am so very sorry for your loss....it's unimaginable!!!
Interesting though that the hospital billed the parents insurance for 3 months of care with the VERY DIAGNOSIS (CRPS) they claimed she did NOT have and mom and daughter were making up.
That is the downfall to me!
Pure evil what these demons did to this poor family.
People should go to jail for this.
I agree
I don't remember the families name but we in the mitochondrial disease group have had drs not believe the families when they were telling their child's illness symptoms.
