@BuzzDyou Naw... they had an impeckable sense of duty and being at peace with themselves and what they did. Also the astronauts had it easy when it came to risk: they would just die. Everyone else - like Guenter - would have to live with themselves and the mistakes that had led up to their colleagues' and friends' deaths. Guenter was not on the pad the day the Apollo 1 fire broke out. He said: "...maybe it was meant for me not to be there because I would have taken it very hard."
