It was mid-90s Avengers in the Crossing story arch where Stark showed himself as a sleeper agent for Immortus and tried to kill the Avengers with the help of Immortus villains. Bad in itself, but then a teen Tony Stark is brought in to fight him and Stark nearly kills him, changing heart at the last moment and dying himself. Ugh. Then came the Worst Thing Iron Man Writers Have Done. Teen Tony Stark was a horrible idea that had me questioning my subscription and I suffered through it only because I enjoyed the artist. The lesson to learn from all of these worsts is that anything one writer does lasts only until a future writer undoes it. That's why I haven't given up on Marvel during current dark days of dismal writing.

I think some of these are a bit off. Phoenix: Splitting the Phoenix in theory allowed the hosts to not fall to its mental influences until Namor died and remaining hosts gained more of its influence. Of course this wasn't his intention but I think the consequences of this were probably less catastrophic than letting the Phoenix merge with Hope before she was trained to handle it. Civil war 2 : Civil war 2 was just BS, starting a war with the inhumans sure I'll give you that but saying that it led to the death of him and The Hulk is false. The Hulk was killed before that happened and Iron Man was "killed" by Captain Marvel, as a hero; the death of someone you're fighting kinda falls on you. In general the Civil war 2 story is just bad because yes, arresting someone for something they didn't do is in fact a miss-use of power and authority. Project 42: I don't really see an issue in creating a prison where prisoners can't commit a jailbreak. The only moral issue here hinges on the fact that the prisoners are/were friends but this comic was entirely about heroes not following the new law thus making them criminals, there are already other entries centred around support the hero-registration act so at this point he is just following the laws that came with that. Destroying a world: This is the biggest moral conundrum on here, if nothing is done both worlds are destroyed but ultimately this was an excessive version of his weapons manufacturing. It was effectively put up to a vote and everyone abstained apart from Namor. If they had the people of Earth vote I think it's likely most people would vote for self-preservation.
