    Your work is out of this world! You make production level props and I'm baffled to see such a low view count. I really don't understand how YT algorithm works because this is exactly the type of videos taht I love to watch, and I had a hard time finding your channel after remembering your B1 Droid video. PLEASE keep it up, good and passionate work always pays up at some point.

    Good timing! I’ve been meaning to ask you for a recommendation regarding a “beginner resin” machine.

    Great dive into this new entry. To the shroud/cover, I keep my resin printers in a dark box for temperature control as well as odor reduction (vented to the outdoors), so I remove the covers and store them, so needing to remove a fixed cover would just add a step to my getting setup and printing.

      @Dwight.Schrute69 definitely! I stared with a Mars 2 Pro myself. I thought prints could never get more crisp than on that machine, haha! Still use it occasionally to this day but it’s incredible the details that these new machines can produce. Smoothness as well since anti aliasing works even better when there are more pixels.

    I ordered the Saturn 4 ultra last week, Very excited to get back to printing. I may try a nice sized prop of some sort to really test it out. I think with innovations like what Elegoo have made and their price point some great technology I think we will see more and more people getting into it, Next step is a safer resin. Great vid as always👌🏻

      @@doctoroctos It will be a massive innovation when they do, more and more people will have them in their office/hobby rooms. I've been using water washable resin and I can only smell that when the lid is off the printer, even then it's not bad, smells like dirt to me 😂

      @MMsPropShop  26 дней назад +1

      Definitely. I flip flop all of the time with what type of printing I enjoy more. It’s so cool what can be done on an FDM printer with all of the different filament types and colours but the details that can be achieved with an SLA printer are unmatched. Either way it’s pretty crazy than any of this type of stuff can be produced in one’s own home.

    I'm fairly new to FDM printing (mostly PLA so far), but am veey interested in resin printing for small details on greeblies and the like. Do you have any fume extraction for your printing room for the resin and/or ABS?

    • @MMsPropShop
      @MMsPropShop  24 дня назад +2

      I pretty much always have a true HEPA and activated charcoal filter running. You have to be diligent about the charcoal filters, they have a lifespan of 3 months.
      Obviously not a scientist myself and there are much more knowledgeable people out there about this kind of stuff, but in terms of the resin, because the exact amounts of various compounds aren’t known it’s hard to determine exactly how toxic it is. Most people are erring on the extreme side of caution, which isn’t a bad thing! A more reasonable approach to it is it’s most effective if you can filter the air/fumes with the printer enclosure itself. Some printers have a filter inside already but there are a few options out there that are rechargeable that can be added into any machine. Wearing proper PPE is also important.

    • @Shadoweclipse1386
      @Shadoweclipse1386 24 дня назад +2

      @@MMsPropShop Absolutely! I work maintenance (HVAC, boiler, general mechanic) professionally at a hospital, and I am quite anal about the PPE and safety side of things. My basement shop (where I currently do my printing) has an exhaust fan in the ceiling joists, that go to a very short piece of duct, straight outside. I could (and probably would) add filters, but I like the idea of a fume hood above the printers too. I just didn't know how crazy you *need* to get with the whole thing, in a minimal/essential kind of way.
      I'd likely be looking at the Elegoo Mars 5 like you've got here, as I really like that. I finally broke down and bought a Bambu Lab P1S a month or so ago, and it's nice to finally have a printer that doesn't need to be tinkered with, and just works. The Elegoo seems to be the same way, which is nice since I've never done any resin stuff myself. Like you, droids and lightsabers and other awesome props. I really like the flexibility of materials for FDM and having access to a resin printer as well.
      Thanks for the quick reply!!

    • @MMsPropShop
      @MMsPropShop  24 дня назад +2

      @Shadoweclipse1386 I’m not sure if anyone 100% knows how crazy you truly need to get unfortunately. I’m sure it’s very dependant on the specific resins as well.
      Having both FDM and SLA is a game changer for props. There always seems to be at least one piece that would be better off in resin for either detail rendering or not having the hassle of sanding. If you live somewhere with weather, the resin projects will get you through the winter, haha!

    The resin is already moving around in a traditional resin printer, each time the build plate pulls away from the bottom of the vat and the descends again.

    • @MMsPropShop
      @MMsPropShop  26 дней назад

      Oh definitely! It’s when the resin is moving around too much when it’s curing that it starts to affect the print quality. If you’d told people a couple of years ago that you wanted to make a printer with a moving VAT that would slosh the resin around constantly, they would have thought you were insane lol
