- Опубликовано: 29 июл 2024
- Hello guvgang, this is a tutorial/guide on how to properly utilize Steve's Ducking-In stance. I believe this is one of his most important stance and there is so much utility and use for this especially in Tekken 8.
I hope you enjoy!

Top tekken content, and Steve mains found a goldmine of clear advice. Subbed
Thank you fam!
This is why he's literally me, this is why he's the 🐐THE 🐐!!
In all honesty, seeing your matches + providing actual gaming tips is extremely appreciated. Thanks again, Soul!
Haha thanks fam, I'm just a scrub compared to other Steve mains out there and it's so shocking to me that people actually find what I put out useful.
Always welcome! 😀
S tier content man been watching and playing along with all your Steve guides
Between this and watching shinblade matches, there's so much to learn
your guides help me make sense of what im seeing the pros do
Compared to Shinblade I'm just a complete scrub haha, but I'm very grateful that you find my content useful! Cheers!
Soul putting in the work for us steve mains. really loving these videos. keep up the good work man. also loving the music
Thanks fam! It really was just a meme in my first guide I made, but I keep seeing that people love the music so I guess I'll keep at it
Coming from 7 never used ducking enough trying to use ducking more in my offense in 8. This guide is very helpful thanks!
Hell yeah, a new Steve guide!!!. I swear, man, your gameplay and guides always make me excited to continue playing and improving!!
Side question, I was a very casual T7 Steve main, and I might be misremebering, but I swear, was Steve stronger in T7?
I'd play a game on T8 and do my usual Steve stuff, getting counterhits and combos in, and the enemy still has plenty of health to spare. Regardless, Steve is my favorite character, so I'll stick with him!
I'm so glad to hear that brother!
Steve is DEFINITELY much stronger in T7 due to how the meta is played. It's a CH game in T7 and Steve has df2 and B1. In T8 they nerfed a lot of his tools and gave him LH in a game where overwhelming force is the meta. So he's a little bit weaker here
@@soulxcv Yeah unfortunate but hey that new Steve tech that just dropped today looks pretty crazy, gonna lab it even though its probably gonna get patched out
another well put together guide
Most stylish move steve has i usually don't even care if its the right situation i personally duck cancel 50 percent of the time for style points
Another amazing guide. Thank you.
Amazing guide thank you so much for your hard work 😊
great guides i want to learn steve and this guides rly help me understanding the character better and also make me appreciate the gameplay design even more for sure got my sub
Thanks fam! Steve is one of the more difficult characters to get into and I'm happy I got to help people learn him 😁
Thank you so much for the tips! I am starting to get more used to in cancelling duck.
Happy to help!
thanks for guide. duck in is such good mix ups.
Another amazing guide...
Thank you for putting in the amazing work brother, i was never sure what to use vs players that sidestep a lot, since df2 is no longer homing, you helped me see the depth of ultility on this amazing character's stances
You're welcome brother! UB2 is also a good tool against sidestepping; I've seen Knee use it a lot to deter lateral movement.
@@soulxcvBeen dealing with the more dangerous kind of sidestepers, the ones who ssduck, or ss into low profiling move at range. Im starting to get some players above my league
Bruh, we need a creator like you for Dragunov. I don't even play Steve, but I still watch your videos.
Haha thanks for your kind words fam!
Once again amazing guide !!! Really helping me as a Steve main!! Keep these coming please ! lol
Also I know it takes a lot of work but anyway we can get a combo guide with notations from you !!
I will get to it!
Your the f##&$n best!!!
your videos help me get over the walls I hit when I'm playing steve
That's great to hear fam!
Thats some good ass advices man!! Makunouchi Ippo Steve inspired 💪🏽
Hell yeah! Ippo is one of the major reasons why I play Steve 🥊
@@soulxcv 🤣 me too, i always liked Steve but watching Hajime no Ippo just gave me the spark to main him
You continue to be the GOAT 🙏
Thanks fam, doing what I can
@@soulxcv you might've already seen but there was some new steve tech making the rounds where you can essentially kara cancel ducking into PKB, letting you do things like LNH > duck kara > PKB. have you considered making a guide on it? i think it'd be really cool since your content is really comprehensive in terms of practical use cases and application
@@ADxTygon I did! I admit that got me so hyped because this kinda tech is VERY Steve Fox in nature: difficult af and great reward for great execution. Though my execution on it is still pretty shit 😅
I'll put out a guide once I'm confident enough and if I can put something new on the table, so I don't be redundant. Cheers!
Thank you so much
Once again QUALITY!
One for the history books
thank you
Even as a fujin steve, this video opened my eyes 😂 dope video
Glad it helped you fam!
Woops, been using moves after cancelling df1 into dck, will defo make sure to stop that lol
Sway is a good option especial sway+1 since it's 0 on block
Thanks to your game plan guide, I got FlameRuler let’s how far can I get after this one.
Thank you for this content.
This is a great duck cancelling guide. I've been trying to get the CH df 2 into wildman but maybe my duck cancels are too slow. When doing that combo do you also go from d/b to b or do d/b to neutral to get the WS1, 2?
I only do d/b into neutral to get ws 1,2. The duck can be cancelled really early so maybe that can help with the wild man follow-up
Would love a vid about the new LH PAB transition tech, I only have a 20% hit rate on transitioning would love to see yourself give any insight
I'm gonna get consistent with it first. I'm also at a very low hit rate right now. I'm gonna feel bad if I start teaching people something I suck at 😆
😭thank y ou for this
the sidestep stances 3 and 4 also work in the middle of strings sometimes in tk6.maybe just for pressure
Yes it's very strong, tbh I forgot to add it in the video 😅
Cheers boss
Cheers!
we need EXT DCK F2 guard break back actually 😂. that's makes steve duck a little more threatening, and have to take a guess between High or Mid
Exactly! I have no idea why they removed it in the first place
Amazing guide!!
Thank you Phi! Love your content, I have learned so much from you
Amazing guide could you do a guide for Steves max damage combos and also Best moves in weave stance
I can try! But I will admit I am not the best when it comes to execution so it may take time
Take your time
Great video, surprised you didn't cover weave here as well. Weave video coming soon?
Thanks fam! Tbh it totally slipped my mind, but it WAS gonna be part of the vid. It's a more straightforward stance than most but I'll do a short vid of it in the future
@soulxcv Did you see the hot new tech today where you can cancel LH into PKB? Seems like it could be huge for Steve. It's a bit tough to get down, but it's definitely something muscle memory could solve. I hope they don't patch it.
@@zenbrown7144 I did! So hyped for that new tech haha
@@soulxcv I was messing around with it, and while it's definitely useful if they're gonna hold block, and it's especially nice to be able to beat power crushes, it seems like most of your plus frames get eaten up by the PKB transition. If you want to do anything besides hard callout a power crush with throw, you'll probably have to condition them to block by using the Lionheart mix a few times.
@@zenbrown7144 I got the same thought as well! If they gave us the LH heat parry normally, or the ability to just block in LH, then all of this is not needed
Any tips on how to do the duck cancel WS1 for his combos after the df1,2 ~1? Can't seem to land it at all
Here you go! Remember to practice part per part until they become muscle memory, then put them all together in one motion
ruclips.net/video/89qqO-UtT5o/видео.html
@@soulxcv oh sht thanks didnt know you had a vid on it!! Will work on it!
I have all your video saved in the favorites.
Can I ask you something? First of all how the hell do I enter pekaboo stance seamlessly. You manage to do that while comboing, and I don't get it.
The second thing is... about ducking: i dont understand when to use it since it leaves me open to many mid attacks that are usually opener for many characters. Do you think it is usable by less experienced players who are not aware of the opponents movement? Because I tried it yesterday in ranked and I realized that I was gambling everytime, and many times i got it for that
Thanks man!
For PKB, some moves like 121f, FCdf1 and 21f put you in PKB with good plus frames to work with provided you hit the first moves before the transition. Also another tip is that Steve's PKB and flk are active the first frame you input it. So if you input it raw, you can actually plink your next move and you won't see Steve actually enter the stance. He's just gonna do the PKB move. I do it a lot when I want instant PKB2.
And as for ducking, it's the same with Mishima wavu pressure: if your opponent doesn't respect the stance and just mash you everytime, then there is no point in adding this layer. Just directly use your CH buttons when you duck in or just use the stance to close the gap safely. Just make sure you practice duck cancelling so you're safe the entire time.
Hope this helps, cheers!
What would you do if the opponent likes doing mid check while duck cancelling?
On hit, they can't interrupt your follow-ups. A CH launcher will kill them. But on block, defense is the safest solution
🔥🔥🔥
I cant for the life of me cancel in time to block that hwoarang fast mid. I can do the DF 1 duck cancel into block but dang the other one is difficult.
Tbh it's really difficult, I sometimes still get hit by mid checks.
Hey, did you see the peekaboo cancel from lion heart yet?
YES OH MY GOD
I'm dropping all things and learning that as soon as I can. Very powerful tech right there!
Can you make a guide on how to beat certain matchups. A lot of chars in this game have so much fucking evasion pushback and armor moves its so tough trying to fight them as steve
That is one area that I am not that great in but I will definitely look into making them!
Yooo did you see the lion heart cancel into pk stance tech?
Hell yeah man! Makes me so excited
Sadly i continue to be unable to do duck cancel...this input make me crazy and sadly Steve Is my fav
It's a muscle memory you can develop, and with all muscle memory, you have to start slow and build up from there!
Luckily Steve doesn't require you to be fast, because the point is to evade highs the entire time. So just do it at your own pace, my friend. One day you will be duck cancelling so fast
Can you make a guide on PKB?
I'm only just about Red ranks but I for the love of god cannot get this stance to do anything other than the grab. I get jabbed out of it every time, or get hit low immediately and can't do anything ever with it.
I know it's supposed to be good for offense but I find it to only be a grab enabler.
I covered it on one of my vids: ruclips.net/video/Hy59BJF2jSg/видео.htmlm25s
Basically the gist of it is you keep harassing with PKB d1 and PKB df11 string until they get frustrated and press at a disadvantage. PKB 12 gives you frames and PKB2 is your CH launcher from stance if you feel like they've had enough of your poking. PKB df1121 is delayable so you can keep playing the timing like how you would Bryan's df111112. Once they press, end the string and db2 is guaranteed.
@@soulxcv I guess my question is when do you start with the D1 pokes?
I'm getting hit out of my PKB like all the time before I can even press something, or even before a regular PKB 1 comes out. Only thing I can ever actually get with it is the grab.
Ahh gotcha. If you transition from a blocked string, say 121f or 21f, you're minus so you can't press if they mash. When you hit your buttons and transition to pkb, that's when you can start your offense because you're heavily plus. If they hit you out of PKB using jabs or punches, PKB2 will be your most used button as it sabakis or counter hits them.
@@soulxcv cool, I'll work on that today.
Thanks!! I think my problem was doing either 121 or 21 on block and expecting it to be plus for some reason lol
I miss the old ch ws2 😢
Bro same, he's the counter punching paragon without the counter punches....
How is your game runs this much smooth, can you please tell me ?
I followed a guide on how to make the graphics cleaner: ruclips.net/video/uDp3qZiXg88/видео.htmlsi=rKbxRwScys3dVH27
Also I'm lucky I'm within spec recommendations so it runs at 60fps almost all the time
@@soulxcv thank you :) also love your content learned a lot from you
What WS Means? Walk straight?
It means While Standing. It's the short time when you're standing up from a crouched position.
ok i understand now, thanks a lot for the guide!@@soulxcv
😂
Great video, but everyone i play against just throws out mids all day😭😭
Mids are a lil slow so they get the back 1
Yeah mids are generally slower than highs so poke them out of it, or 121 or B1.
As a new tekken player. It’s frustrating seeing so many tutorials with a bunch of unexplained lingo I don’t understand. It’d be nice if the abbreviations were in the description or something.
I will work on that, thanks for the feedback! I have notations on the moves I talked about shown on screen so I hope that helps
Hey man I’d recommend checking out the Steve discord if you’re interested in this character in particular
@@ThePigenSquad where do I join
Ducking in cons: much like in any real life martial art, 99% of the opponent's attacks will hit you right in the face for extra damage.
Haha correct! Maybe that's why Steve's face looks so swollen now 💀
as a new comer this seems impossible lol
should i be sliding my thumb or pressing down back after initial duck?
Sliding is gonna be the more intuitive option!
@@soulxcv i got the hang of it! ty for the guide. i cant do it fast enough for it to feel like a threat but im on my way
Awesome!
Amazing guide thank you so much for your hard work 😊
