    Good video. Finally, I fix my five years old Samsung RFG237 freezer is not cooling. Before I have to remove the back panel inside of the freezer drawer to defrost due to ice build up. Samsung tech came to check and recommend to replace the control board... I research online to remove the back panel to clean the drain pipes and remove excess water. There is a secret place you need to clean it completely. I also remove the top drawer of the freezer section. It seems this drawer block the air flow because Samsung is using the small motor fan. So far, the freezer temp is keeping around zero instead of 30 degrees before.

    This was done a long time ago in deference to kind fellow who showed my particular model, and how to de-ice it. You could unplug or turn it off from the front panel I believe for several days to accomplish the same thing without taking off the cover. This, however doesn't solve the icing problem with this model or other models made about the same time from Samsung. It will just freeze again. To solve the problem it takes a few different methods each with better or worse results. The fridge has a poor design. It doesn't adequately defrost the upper portion of the cabinet, nor is the drain hole warmer sufficient if ice happens to form in the bottom tray. Adding insulation to various areas, and extending the heating element into the drain hole is one partial fix that may or not be necessary if you do the entire fix which is add another heater for the upper portion of the cabinet. You may do a possible fix without adding a heater by fixing the drain hole icing issue, adding insulation behind the evaporator along with covering the drain channel, that metal piece under the evaporator, with mylar foam tape, and also covering all the copper entry tubes with same up top. This fridge is junk.

    1) I'm never buying a Samsung refrigator again. I have a 2016 POS. My fridge always acts up after a power outage. Which happens even on a nice sunny day.
    2) It took me almost 3 hours to fully defrost my coil and fan. My fan/fan blades were completely covered in a thick ice. I'm surprised the fan works at all after that. It took about two hours to cool down but early returns indicate we have things under control.

    Wow, well thank you so much for posting this, but reading all the people who have had the same issues it’s obviously a really badly made refrigerator and Samsung should be held accountable! We shouldn’t have to keep going through this and doing this over and over so I for one an going to hold Samsung accountable and demand a replacement, or some kind of monetary compensation because it’s ridiculous to have to deal with all this. Even a repair person who comes out can’t do anything other than defrost it like we are doing so what a waste of everyone’s time!! This is a completely bad model and apparently other Samsung‘s have this issue too, so yes, the answer is to take them to small claims court or something and then buy a non Samsung refrigerator!!!

      After separating the coils as shown in this video, I’ve had no problems with this fridge in over 4 years. Either insulate better, or push those two coils further away from each other. The condensation is the problem because it freezes. Wish I made a video showing this, hope this makes sense.

      Fixin To Do It All So basically, you manually defrosted it.
      I do not mean to be mean or smart ***. You said you were not a pro. Neither am I a certified pro, but I have repaired many appliances.
      Unless I missed something, you cleared a symptom, not the cause.
      If this permanently solved the problem, maybe the door was just left partially open allowing warm air to enter the unit and causing moisture which then kept freezing causing ice buildup. Then again, it may have been a fluke if some sort in the defrost system. Something in the defrost system is many times the cause of ice buildup.
      Did this fix the problem permanently?
      If so, good for you!

      I was told separating the coils from each other will help or eliminate this problem. I did so with distance on mine, after my second service on this issue. No problems since, and it's been 2+years. I know some have installed insulation to separate the hot from the cold. I think this was Samsung's initial solution; insulation. But this is what failed. The hot coil/tube melting the insulation away. Me, I just pushed the two away from each other and no more condensation freezing due to less condensation. Hope that makes sense? Perhaps I should just do another video where I take it apart and show how I've provided distance between the hot and cold.... hmm. Thank you for you feedback and question.

      I am having the same problem. Ours lasts a week with how much we have the door open with four kids. I have done a lot of reading. The problem is the sensor on the defrost component around the condenser. I bought a replacement and am about to replace it, that is why I am looking at videos. If you want, message me and I will share my results once we see if it fixes it. One problem with these models is the sensor for the defrosting element is in a terrible spot. Lots of people suggest moving it. For me I know that mine has just stopped working so I am hoping a full replacement fixes it. If not, I am going to be supremely angry with Samsung. Already am frustrated enough to never buy an appliance from them again. If I can’t fix it, I won’t buy a single Samsung product ever again as a boycott.

    I will NEVER buy Samsung again! It’s CRAZY that one can invest $3000-$4000 in a refrigerator that starts having problems across the board in less than 2 years!!! The fridge worked beautifully...until it doesn’t (like I said...LESS than 2 years!) You will pay multiple repair calls until finally your warranty “runs out” and “too bad for you”...DO NOT let this happen! Demand a replacement BEFORE your warranty runs out! Don’t be naive like so many and assume Samsung will do the “right thing” ...they care about money. Period. My husband is...as I type this...once again holding a blow dryer to the block of ice built up behind the panel. The whole fridge was warm (61 degrees). It’s a wonder no one has gotten ill in my family. Which angers me because I have children. There are COUNTLESS other families out there who are in the same boat. (Check our FB pages) Do yourself a favor if you are reading this....do not buy Samsung!!! Buy AMERICAN!

  • @milehunter227
    @milehunter227 2 года назад +2

    My defrost coil heats, but gets too hot (400+F), so any melting ice dripped on the defrost heating element and instantly evaporated. This caused high humidity in the refrigerator, and thus contributed to once again icing up the coils, rather than the water dripping into the hole. My fix was to add a $5 12v temp controller to the 12v line that turns on the defrost heating element, and set it to cycle off and on to keep the element closer to 200F. Now humidity stays 40% to 60% vs 80 to 100%. The coils stay defrosted without build up, and it stops the viscous high humidity cycles that end up freezing to the fan. If the element temperature is limited to a lower temp, it won’t fail as often. Drip water drops on your 400F oven element to see what is happening as a test, then try again when set to under 200F.

Has anybody contacted Samsung with this problem to see if they have a fix? It seems to me that there is a problem with the heater. Piece of advice for anybody don’t ever buy any Samsun kitchen appliances!They’re horrible! warranties horrible service is horrible. Everything about it. It’s horrible, I bought all Samsung appliances for my kitchen and the first year my dishwasher stopped working and when I called for services they came and to repair it, but the repair was more expensive than buying a new one and when I ask about the warranty since I only have a one for one year, they told me that the warranty didn’t cover the piece that stopped working and when I ask so what causes that? they didn’t know apparently “it just happens” ….. three years after that my refrigerator broke down and I have to call somebody to fix it and their repair $600, a year after that, the handle of the microwave literally just fell off for no reason! Now the kitchen The oven is not working properly anymore I’m writing this comment the refrigerator stopped working again only two years after they repair they did. Can’t wait to call on Monday to see what kind of BS they’re going to tell me I’m a refrigerator now…😡 so yeah when it comes to appliances stick to OG like General Electric.
