    Thank you for the video! I was given a quote to replace the 2 elbows for $300-$400. I found your video and replaced them in 2 1/2 hrs. I did have to fish out both broken pieces from inside, but it wasn't to bad. For those reading this be sure to replace both elbows with aluminum elbows. Do not go back with the plastic elbows. The aluminum elbows come in a kit and were only $8 at my local auto parts store. Thanks again!

    Garage wanted to replace my thermostat, radiator and radiator hoses(that I had replaced 5 months ago) and the Coolant elbow. $600. I was sure the only problem was the coolant elbow which was visibly cracked. I found your video. Told the garage to take a hike and fixed it myself following your instructions. Cost me $12 and about three hours.
    Car is running perfectly now.
    THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

    I came to this video because I'm getting ready to change plugs and wires on 2003 Lesabre (I thought it would provide me with views to accessing back 3 plugs... which it did) Upon watching the video it reminded me of when I had to change the friggin elbow on my 1988 LeSabre . Tear the whole top side of engine apart for that gd plastic elbow. If you're replacing it then use the metal version vs. plastic.

    Thank you so much for the video, if there is one thing I would suggest, is that on videos, you give estimated job time or length of raw footage, due to speeding up of tedious parts to compress video length. Other than that I can't complain, I love you guys and what you do.

    I no NOTHING bout cars, as in I had 2 buy a complete set of tools 2day. 8.5hrs later...done! Pipe from the tensioner 2 the block, almost beat me. If there's ANY trick 2get it out, u should include it, a pry-bar didn't work. Nor did a maul. Don't use a maul, u'll just smash pieces of tensioner in2 ur eye & swear a lot...lol, eye's still good! Next time glasses! U don't want 2 no how I got it. Nearly didn't "waste" $ on hook tools, SO glad I did, NOT a waste. AMAZING 4 rubber pipes stuck 2 metal.

    Four bolts on newer models, longest bolt goes in bottom right, mark them as you take them out :P
    I don't think you have to pry, ras others have noted, replace both elbows. My upper one was broken just like this video and initially I thought I was going to have to take the head off, however be patient and realize they go in a ways and you can fish it out exactly as he showed.

      pretty sure you know this.. but.. just leave it it'll break down then get mulched by water pump, then get stuck in heater core, which will eventually be backflushed. no harm done.

    Hi, everyone, your video is one of a kind. I love it.
    The only problem that I'm facing now is that "the piece won't come off, I stuck my finger inside the opening and accidentally I pushed the broken piece towards the inside". I been trying to stick my finger to feel if I can get the piece closed to the opening, but I can't feel it any more. I believe the damn piece is further inside the block. How can I go about and get the piece out of there. Will truly appreiciated. best

    Great video! Thank you! I have to do this very job on my 1998 LeSabre. Question: did you have to remove the motor mount to get the serpentine belt out? Looks like you do have to do that on some 3800 applications.

    3:36 It is way easier to reach the coolant plug with the Air box off. Getting the splash pan back on was a huge pain in the ass. And the 7 mil tappers don't go back in so just bolt it

    Could this cause the AC to stop working?

    • @1AAuto
      @1AAuto  10 лет назад

      It shouldn't. it may cause an overheating situation or a loss of coolant. You may want to have the Freon level checked, and also see if there's power going to the AC compressor when the switch is turned on. Hope this helps you out.
