I just don’t know why we don’t point the finger at the FA. Let’s not forget, before Southgate we had Sam ALLERDYCE… HAM ALLERDYCE!
Who is in charge of appointing managers, can we have them on the show so they can talk us through their decisions
Can Rio tell how he has experienced the Ruud Gullit interview?

Big Sam & Steve Bruce & Gary Neville were spot on - that A- we were much better with 3 CBs & 2 Wingbacks.
That B- Foden & Trippiers own goal off side was awful in KO's. Usually a 99% game loser. Phil & KT are off it. They also messed up a free kick from a nice spot & messed up lots of lefty goal cresting over-laps by going inside with slow tired passing. Fuckin love ste man!!! You need people like him on podcasts.. take the piss and have a different opinion to everyone else
The perfect devil's advocate. 😂
That’s his job hardly there cause his experience lol always need 1 that’s goes against everything
@@simonclare333what are you talking about? Ste has been doing RUclips and podcasting for years. He brings ALL the experience to this channel and the podcasts
Ste speaks the truth, no fluff, calls it how he sees it. Love it!
@@Lamb0vaRicedone it longer than them both! RUclips content creating that is lol
Ste is the GOAT on this podcast
Mainoo was England's best player
Ste can do whatever he wants in terms of supporting or not supporting England man’s a veteran.
Honestly, to think Ste doesn’t care about England or etc is crazy! He’s explained more than enough times, his love for England FOOTBALL started to die with the disrespect Manchester United (Manchester where he is from) have been disrespected and their players by England and England football fans
I love Rio and Joel, but I can't believe they're sitting there even defending Southgate for even a second 😐 absolute farce the way he has managed this amazing bunch of attacking players...and he STILL hasn't even got the right starting lineup! Ridiculous, really!
England are in their most successful period since 1966. The best squad we have ever had was in rios time and they never got near what Southgate has achieved. Sven, Capello, Mclaren they failed miserably. Gareth is not failing, you are failing as a supporter. And what's the right line up bud?
Ste is a real one. Lots of United and Liverpool fans don't support England cause of the history. It's not that deep
That's true and I'm united. From being a kid I always got let down by England. United always won. So I always accepted england would lose in tournaments to not get let down
Ste told everyone if England manages to win euros its because Bellingham decide to do so
I’m in the Ste camp. England’s style just doesn’t engage me. All the focus has been on Bellingham and Foden, undoubtedly gifted players, but the only player to come out the last 4 games with any credit is Mainoo. The kid is intelligent and brave and should be the first name on the team sheet for the game against the Swiss.
Toney also did more than Kane. He was a nuisance and couldn’t be handles.
Drop Foden for real already
@@fds3415 Kane can't do much when his wingers don't make runs or cross accurately.
You play to the strengths of your best player which is Kane by giving him runners in front of him.
Honestly Eze was super impressive when he came on. Might be bold but him at the 10 with Mainoo behind imo adds a ton of control and class, and from what he showed Eberechi can get stuck in so it wouldn't be as lightweight as it might seem. Drop Foden, Saka left Palmer right, or Gordon left Saka right. Could even play Eze LM in a 442, Saka RM, Kane and Toney up top.
@@Nefariousbig he was ok but I rate Gordon more on the left.
These episodes would be a lot shorter without Ste's takes 😂, P.S get Kobbie on the pod!!! Youngest England debut except Rooney and Owen. 🔥🔥
If mainoo slaps on 10lbs of lean tissue, he will be a complete force. No one could knock him off the ball! Class!
More like 10kg
@@samanana-vb6sr and he will. only 18
Bad take.Kante is much more smaller and still is packing that strength
@@darsanmprasad1741 mainoo isn’t a cdm though.
Ste talks so much sense when it comes to England and this is coming from a Liverpool fan!
And they said Southgate was right for United
Completely agree with Ste's thoughts on England - as a Man United fan growing up in the 90s/00s having your own players targeted and abused (Neville, Rooney, Beckham etc) it was very hard to like England, despite wanting to. I was always drawn to the passion and belief teams like Brazil or Italy showed in that era and felt slightly embarrassed to be associated with England football team just because I was born in England. With only Kobbie Mainoo in the team these days and United still very much hated (never ignored) it's still so hard to really cheer on England. I want them to win but I don't really celebrate goals anywhere near as much as I do for United.
beckham slipped on his own 😜🇵🇹
Watched Ste since early Full time devils! His football analysis is top tier, so cool to see him do it with Rio
If Eddie Howe is available he needs to be the next England manager. I don't think Newcastle have any plans to let him go but he does need to be sounded out. English, very good attacking football manager, intelligent, good man management, tactically astute. He is the best English manager around atm.
Ste should start the "regardless of the result, England will sack Southgate" Agenda
or "who should replace Southgate" Agenda
Is it just me or England do have a very obvious style of play? It's tiki tala, counter attack , park the bus, gegenpress, quick one touch football combined but just all the negative aspects of the above and let's just appreciate how hard that is to pull off. Took Southgate 8 years to get there
😆😆😆😆
The way England play is like an MMA fighter who rocks his opponent and doesn't follow up because he's afraid of getting hurt instead of just finishing the fight.
We are actually gonna win it!!! Negativity won't help anyone.
3-Box-3
Pickford GK
Trent RB (Comes into midfield)
Walker RCB
Stones CB
Gomez LCB/LB
Rice DM
Mainoo
Bellingham
Gordon LW
Kane ST
Saka RW
If Southgate wants to keep playing this 11 and formation, the change is so simple - Foden RW, Saka LW. Gets the best out of Foden in his best position (where he played most for City this year). That way, even if Trippier cuts inside a lot, we still have a pacy option who can stay wide and be a threat in behind in Saka. That’s the big issue here. If your full back cuts in, doesn’t overlap and provide width, you just need a winger who will keep wide instead on the same side.
Mainoo reminds me of Wijnaldum 4-5yrs ago in how he carries the ball.
Liverpool fan here and it hurts to admit.
Na he’s more Clarence Seedorf
Even better then.
@@robbiewizz658don't compare kids to legends. Seedorf is better than every english midfielder since Charlton

Ste for next England manager!!
That lamal is the best player in this tournament. Its frightening that hes only 16. He already has the maturity to know when to beat a player, hiw to, pace and end oroduct/delivery. I’m so with ste right now. Bin all the “you have to support England because you were born here” trash and just enjoy good football. Personally, I always seem to enjoy watching Japan playing. Ever the underdogs, always giving 100%, rarely involved in unsportsmanlike stuff.

Whats the video about Keane??? Where do I watch???
yes need to see
15:22 Yeah but Rio....Yaya Touré was playing CB next to Pique that night, don't see Rooney getting past him
Yeah big love to Ste on this. He's hilarious yoo😂
I s2g I'm gonna start a petition for England to play 3/5 at the back with wing-backs. Been unashamedly been harping on about this since the first group stage game. The left-back crisis is a fallacy: The squad has depth, desire, talent & skill - We just need tactical ingenuity.
Don't know why anyone is surprised about Ste not supporting England, the way United players have been treated by England fans over the years you're just waiting for the next one to get scapegoated
Says every club fan about their club ever 😴

Question: Who'd be the perfect England manager for one game, and who'd you like to see for the next 8 years (regardless of 2024 results). And who Englands next great striker? (Outside of Toney).
Seedorf is better than every english midfielder since Charlton. Dont compare Mainoo to him, just let the kid play football without having outlandish comparisons. Seedorf at his age had already won a Champions League with Ajax
Kyle Walker has been shocking!
In a Alt universe England have a attack minded manager and got to 2018 World Cup final , won the 2021 euros and bossed their way to the 2024 euro final

Clear to see Rio and Joel don't want to burn relationships with the players, cause this is ridiculous. Shock performance, never normally back Ste but he's absolutely bang on that was a disgrace and watch what happens against switzerland
Pressure also has another word, ‘vulnerability’…..can these players handle taking risks?
Jude put up the Roosevelt quote The Man in the Arena because he knows he’s got the balls, pity his manager is the exact opposite.
Throwing the negative label on Ste for not connecting with the England squad is annoying. Everything about that squad aside from Jude, Kobbie & Cole is WACK.

It's not pressure. Some of these smaller countries have better players than we think.
So, other teams ain't got no heart, determination, commitment, character, and resilience? Don't oversell the win Rio
So glad Rio picked up on Trip being too conservative. His role is so bad in this team, which is sad to see.
Same critism came at ten haag for style of play but when u have no left footer ur whole team is so easy to defend againist the whole team is affected
Just gotta get to the final, honestly who cares how we play, in tournament football you just got to get to the final and then anything can happen.

Ste just saying it out loud wot we’re all feeling
Ste isnt the only one who dislikes the England football team trust me. And he’s right most of the England fans are bellends. Hence Joel.
come on the players have to take some blame .90%
There is incompetence and negligence in the way Southgate has approached the squad and the team of players. He is leaving players to fend for themselves and sort out the problems on the pitch when it is his job to set them up in the correct manner and give him the best fighting chance. His tactics and formations and the players within the formation have been unclear and experimental. Which has filtered right through onto the players. The in game substitutions is a whole other matter.
Judes great but he ain't a playmaker, and Southgate doesn't have it, to make tactical plays. Without this, england ain't doing nothing but passing sideways. They'd be better dropping Kane as a 10, with a 9 to run in behind
Rio's so right. Saka would bring the balance. What other option has he given himself!

Happy to see the guys reunited !
England playing against low block after low block ain’t as easy as we are making out.
I've got a feeling that we'll end up with a Scholes , lampard and Gerrard problem with Phoden Bellingham and Kobbie Mainoo.
Southgate is a Championship Manager with Champions league playing and thats the only reason why hes still got his job. Steve Clark the ex Scotland manager would do better than Southgate, you only have to see what he managed to do with Scotland imagine what he could do with England. He won leagues and champions leagues under Jose Mourinho
You've already ended up with it with Bellingham, Kane, Foden and there's Cole Palmer just sleeping on the bench as well.
The media have been obsessed with the idea that different players should be played and they have been. Alexander-Arnold is off, as they demanded, Mainoo is playing as they demanded and Palmer has had more opportunity than any other sub, yet the results have not been that much better than before him being on the pitch. In fact, the players the media have ignored and Southgate chose without their mention have had more impact than the ones the media goes on about. Palmer has yet to give an assist or score and contributed to messing up what was going to be the goal of the tournament against Slovenia when Anthony Gordon produced the pass of the tournament to Mainoo, which was followed by an act of delightful skill and pass by Mainoo to Kane. Kane too followed this by a delight pass to Palmer who was out of position, asleep and too late to the ball which he followed by a pathetic shot that might as well have been a pass to the goalie and should have won us that game. If that was Saka playing there instead of Palmer, he would have been in the right position for the pass from Kane and would have been free to run clean on goal or had a free shot and scored. Saka at least has an assist and not because his game time as it did not that much game time to make and assist. Palmer is all swagger, but no delivery at the most important moments or at all in this competition while others deliver. So once again your ideas have proved wrong there, but that the fact is, while the players you demand play have succeeded in nothing, most especially Palmer, to the point that I play a game where when Palmer has the ball I count 10 seconds knowing the ball will be in the hands of the opposition by the end of those ten seconds, other players who have had less time on the pitch have created assists or special unforgettable attacking contributions. Mainoo was never a priority in your discussions of who should play yet he has had a considerable positive impact in his contribution and looks the most consistently high performer in the final third for England with his play not only calm and of quality way beyond his years in tight spaces, but equal in level of control of the ball, passing, temperament, intelligence and quality of delivery you would find in a Man City team or any great Spanish or Italian team and he has achieved this level of ability and maturity at just 19 years of age. For England, he is the big and shocking surprise of this tournament at just how good he is and the world is watching it. I predict his price is going to surge at the end of this tournament with top teams after his signature around the world even if England go no further. Manchester United better watch out. Great stuff. Peace and love
