"The SA X is tracking you" | Metroid Fusion Expanded

- I'm back with another feature, the SA-X tracking you in sector 6. Adam tells you the SA-X is "tracking" you in sector 6, Adam probably only tells you this so you don't find out about the restricted labratory.
This feature wasn't made with any asm/hex tweaks, the SA-X sprite is sprite 11/17(Elevator SA-X) and isn't event based. So it isn't tied to any events, this feature makes the sector 6 revisit more hard and intimidating. Игры
This makes me think how cool it would have been to have a difficult mid to late game fight with SA-X where you win, and then you get the "there's no less than six SA-X on board right now lol" dialogue and then from there forward the chance of getting jumped is there the whole time. God I love Metroid Fusion
That would've been amazing. You think you've finally gotten rid of this monstrer that's been stalking you throughout half the game. You feel like a boss...
...and then you find out there's more of them and your hard-earned victory didn't really mean that much in the grand scheme of things.
Right after Samus got the plasma beam she coulda beaten the sa-x.
@@ericdelbrugge2005 Which is exactly why I think everything after that is Adam deliberately sending Samus elsewhere to avoid the SA-X without raising her suspicion because the Galactic Federation want to capture it.

I do recall that Adam mentions early in the game that the plasma beam would be the first effective weapon capable of damaging the SA-X. I also recall getting it, and being disappointed that you don’t even encounter the SA-X until the end when you’ve already got the Wave Beam and Screw Attack, so you never even get to test the plasma beam by itself against the damn thing.
they are invulnerable against it in all encounters aside from the last one anyways.
would've been interesting though.
I have a theory that Adam calls you back to your ship after Power Bombs because that's when the Galactic Federation have taken an interest in the X and think that Samus is becoming too strong. Everything after that is various wrenches thrown into the plan to 1. capture the X and 2. keep the secret Metroid program safe, except maybe Nightmare being released which can either be a convenient distraction that got out at that very moment or something that Adam had released to direct Samus elsewhere after learning she has Plasma Beam. Once Samus recovers Plasma Beam, Adam has a vested interest in making sure that Samus doesn't encounter and defeat the SA-X. This is further added to by the fact that Plasma Beam data was ready to be sent but wasn't, likely being ready after Diffusion Missile data was mistakenly sent after Power Bomb data and just as the Galactic Federation decided that they wanted to capture the X.
@@JohnDoe-yp3zv I dig your theory. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if that’s the case. You can definitely tell that Adam seems to be hiding something from Samus at that point on.
Now I think more Sa-X encounters would be pretty cool but my afterthought is that it would destroy the feeling of that first playthrough because if the SA-X would be more common you would get more used to the fear. The feeling that you don’t know when you encounter it next time and the big gaps between it provokes more fear
I see what you mean, from here on there are probably like 3 more SA-X encounters, all very close to each other. I might remove the Level X one but only time may tell...
I feel like one more at 6 NOC late game wouldn't have taken away from that.
As the saying goes: less is more
@@LasagnyaMcMeatsauce 100%. Most people forget this and the primary reason why the EMMIs are not scary at all
I think, especially at this part, if the SA-X really was actively tracking you, it would have made for some great jump scares, sort of like the EMMIs in Dread, but less obvious
The light circle being around only the SA-X is a nice touch.
The speed when entering through doors is so satisfying.
Door transitions are slightly faster.
Honestly, if Metroid Fusion ever gets remade, I hope the SA-X is more like this. Always showing up at any moment, instead of a predetermined path.
That's why they made the EMMI's I'd think, and it also means a Fusion remake could 100% get away with things like this.
I don't even want to imagine the cinematic kill moves Zombie Samus would have.
So what I'm hearing - and correct me if I'm wrong - is that there's no entry without authorization
I’d have dreams play out like this of Metroid Fusion where the SA-X actively tracks and hunts Samus down. Every respawn would be in a new randomized area and SA-X would be in the next room every time. Thanks for making my nightmares a reality 😀
Your nightmares could be inspiration or ideas! And good ones!
@@ModdedMage 🤯 oh! I never thought of that! Each respawn area looked so different from each other and it was unbearable to hear those footsteps when entering each room. But that’s how Metroid Fusion should’ve been >.>
@@ModdedMageMetroid Fusion Roguelike would be awesome.
Ngl, I wasn't even the one playing, and I was tense during most of the vid. Excellent (and terrifying) work.
thx
Always wished the SA-X appeared more, too add more to the fear factor of it always being behind the corner.
Will for sure check out this hack when its complete.
Turns to morph ball and follows you now I see why metroid fusion is the scariest game to play even nightmare too
SA-X doesn't even do that in the base game. The only time it ever turns to morph ball is that one time it drops a power bomb.
@@syweb2 oh nvmm but was it a mod or cheat?
@@Venomfang777 What do you mean? If you're talking about this video, it's modded. The entire premise of the video is that it's modded so the SA-X is actually tracking you in this section where Adam says it is.
@@syweb2 I thought it was a cheat cheat sorry
@@Venomfang777However, the behavior of SA-X isn't modded. It's just the event in the Navigational room that's modded which normally occurs at a different time and space and spawns SA-X following you wherever you go.
I see the European Zero Mission font. Very classy!
The soundtrack really gets me 🫠
If only we could improve the sfx, I love these additions to the plot/behavior.
You could with ASM but that takes to long to learn
@@ModdedMage agreed XD
Now this is terrifying.
Btw whats behind that LV-2 door in the Secret Tract
The green door leads to an energy tank.
I had no idea the SA-X could morph ball, that actually makes it extra scary.
Except the fact its just, bonking you to hurt you I guess.
At some point Adam tells Samus that there are at least 10 SA-X aboard the station. I felt disappointed (yet relieved) that you didn't have to battle so many copies of the SA-X, but it would be awesome to see that being a reality in the game.
If they ever remake Fusion I would love to see additional mechanics with SA-X roaming around hunting for Samus. There could even be new upgrades to assist in avoiding SA-X or even a more expansive map with tons of hidden pathways or optional routes which you might need to take advantage of to avoid SA-X
Wait, are you the guy who made Fusion Special Edition? Im really glad this section is seeing more love, when I first played the hack I got stuck here bc i didnt have Space Jump yet lmao
No, I didn't make special edition! I am using as a base though.
@@ModdedMage Ahhh, ok. Well, either way, thank you for hearing me out lmao.
did you try to kill the sa-x with the wave beam? what would have happen?
You can damage it and it does have health. But killing it would result in it being frozen in place.
@@ModdedMageu should make it so the ability thing floats away before you can absorb it, like how it does after u fight it as a boss, there are as many as 10 or more SA-X'S on the BSL Space station so i think it would be fitting
@@CD-OSC-FF I can't make the SA-X turn into an X-core after you defeat it ASM(Assembly/custom code) for the GBA. And as for the ten SA-X's on board. I plan on doing that soon. I've already made a second encounter in my latest video!
Is this a fan hack your working on?
Yes!
@@ModdedMage ooo so how much are we to expect to be added with the sa-x?
….Nope!
ok but I HAVE to know what's behind the green door at 4:02
Originally you could've gotten to box two earlier when you got powerbombs. The green door was supposed to lead to the unlock of level 4 hatches(red hatches) and an e-tank. But the level 4 unlock didn't work so you'll just get a free e-tank.
Oh nice!
I'll give this romhack a try someday, there aren't enough Fusion hacks around
@GeonXP89 You're not kidding. It's mostly just composed of Chinese half hacks and not much else.
@@yorelyoung6407 LOL everyone hates the Chinese half-hacks thx
@ModdedMage This is cool as a demonstration but it's a bit clunky as a feature.
Here's a good idea. Instead of a random SA-X encounter, you can instead, have more scripted near encounters in the beginning half of the game. They can also become full blown chase sequences if you're an idiot in the open when that happens.
Also, SA-X has a chance of appearing in areas where you are not supposed to go yet. (Like in superheated or super cooled areas before you get the Varia suit.)
And slowly seed in a limited amount of random encounters among the scripted near encounters while slowly reducing the scripted encounters until there are no more scripted encounters.
After the dialog about there being 6 SA-X on board, make it unlimited but with a cooldown if you manage to escape.
Hi. Is there a way to download your modded rom? I need to play this.
No not yet
@@ModdedMage Oh...
Maybe redo the rooms a tad bit so the Sa-X spawns are less awkward? Them spawning in at the same time as you and in the same entrance is pretty awkward
Yeah ill see what I can do
No music change? Man...
No music change without authorization.
