Hi I advise you to use a 100% wool thread. If your doll's head is small then it would be better to use a thinner "LACE or SUPER FINE" wool thread. How long do u usually wait after u take them out of the oven?

In that case, you can try drying it with a hairdryer. You can also spray water instead of dipping the wooden hair sticks in water. Try it ;)
