    I want to sculpt my New Zealand hunterway collie but life size, I have made the armature and I’m collecting the wool so I can get started asap. It’s gonna be a few weeks before I complete it maybe even longer lol I’ll be using fibrefill for the body construction as it’s cheap and works really well and also batts for a less lumpy look and feel I’ve had exact replicas of his eyes made as he has a blue and dark brown eyes, I made a nontoxic mould of his actual nose. (It doesn’t hurt them at all and is only in place for 4-5 seconds ) so please no hate, it’s perfect safe. I’ve also saved some of his longer fur to incorporate it to the sculpture as a loving touch too. Can’t wait to get started. Love your channel and have subscribed. The spaniel is absolutely breathtaking and so exquisite it looks so realistic. Thanks for sharing this video.

    Omg i have so much respect for people who needle felt. I crochet, tried needle felting and couldnt do it. I want to try again as i am a dog groomer and thought it be nice to try and make a needle felted version of their dogs witb their dogs hair in spare time. Is this possible?

    • @FittobeLovedFelts
      @FittobeLovedFelts  4 месяца назад

      It's great you want to try again. There's so much room to create and find your own style with needle felting. I started with crochet too but felt confined to patterns. Yes a lot of people use dog fur. It can be a little silky to easily felt - depends on breed. I have made a piece from wool but added a bit of fur in with it. Let me know how you get on 😊

    I just discovered this video and was so interested, I subscribed to your channel. Thank you for sharing your knowledge so freely. I have one question though, since I am dabbling with some felting on an already knitted or crocheted item. If the fur becomes soiled or needs a touch up, does this hold up to brushing? I have asked this several times on different crafting groups, but never get an answer. I would really, really like to know. Thanking any and all in advance.

    • @FittobeLovedFelts
      @FittobeLovedFelts  2 года назад +1

      Thank you for subscribing. :-) I think with wool that gets soiled it would have to very carefully be cleaned or the dirt/ dust or whatever removed. A tiny brush like an eyebrow or eyelash brush might help pull out soiling but could be a risk to also pulling out some fibres. Depends on what substance gets on the wool. I rarely brush long fibres unless they are well planted in and only as a once off towards the end to finish off a piece. I usually advise those who buy my creations not to brush fibres but treat it as a delicate sculpture rather than a toy. Also to keep out of dust and away from moths eg behind glass. Not sure if I am being of help with my answer. Would you mind giving me an example of what you are making and what situation you are wondering about exactly. Thanks

      @@FittobeLovedFelts Thank you so much for your prompt reply and yes it did answer my question. I always mention that my amigurumi are not toys but collectible shelf yarn sculptures. I tried to send a picture to help explain what I am doing, without success. But basically, I am making a knitted fawn by Claire Garland. I find that once my project is knitted and stuffed, needle felting in certain areas bring my little creatures to life, adding details that would be otherwise difficult without needle felting. It occurred to me though that some people might want to brush them, which I think, (as you) would pull out some of the wool. Since I have never needle felted anything, I had nothing to compare my projects with. My quests a stuffed animal does not have a solid core to help grasp the felting, but I think this idea is still quite feasible as long as the recipient understands proper care. Thank you so very much for answering my question. I think this is my stepping stone to a fully needle felted project. Again, your videos are fascinating!!!

      I started out with crochet and loved it but really wanted to create my very own creations from scratch that I could say were my own work and not from following a pattern. Once I discovered needle felting I've rarely crocheted since. I still admire the gorgeous little animals I see around though 😍

    I got one question when you make the ears how long do poke them for because when I make a needle felted animal the ears I make always get fall of or become damage

    • @FittobeLovedFelts
      @FittobeLovedFelts  2 года назад

      Do you mean when making them or fixing to the head? Either way I try to give it a good stab. Core wool is good for basic shape then add softer coloured wools on after or go straight for coloured wool make thicker than needed in layers and stB firm. Can thin by lots of stabbing or use straighteners or an iron over a tea towel to flatten. When fixing ear into place. Make sure to have a wad of excess looser wool at end of the ear that you will use to stab into the head and stab at various angles. Start in any case with a decent lower gauge needle, then go to higher gauge as you feel resistance. Hope this helps.
