If you are curious and want to buy one for yourself, they are only $509Au for the basic model, and $769Au for the pro.

Thank thats answered my questions regarding it I was looking at updating later this year for me the printer speed is a good feature I like that 8k is plenty of accuracy tho excessive even. Great review mate really appreciate the content. 😊

Only thing I would disagree on is inbuilt cleaning in the must have catergory , as you said yourself , down the line it will probebly become that , but right now for me its a desirable. Anything that can help me make a print not fail would be in the must have before cleaning , some sort of sensor checking the FEP as one example.
Longer life time on all parts but mainly the Led is probebly sooner rather then later gonna end up as 'must have' category due to the DP printers coming out.
Edit: Oh btw , good review :)

Ah sweet, I was loving my Halot One and was curious about the Mage since I heard it was super fast. Happy to hear from a content creator I trust.

Even when you take care to hollow out your model Macca and properly support it, it's always tricky to evaluate the succion force that can tear the model from the plate. And it gets even worse with fast printers. I wish the slicers could simulate this or warn us at time of slicing but it would mean knowing the viscosity of the resin beforehand and this changes depending on the ambient temp, blablabla... The solution (that no one really enjoys) when you print "straight" like you've done with your egg is to punch holes round the base of the model, that you'll have to fill or plug later (which means glueing, sanding and so on). Or print at an angle, but the print of course gets taller and takes longer.
    Thanks for the review.

On your list of must haves and desirables...
As a brit. One major thing on a should have... resin temp control unit. Here we are always jury rigging micro heaters and whatnot to warm the resin.
Either that or make cool temp resin.
What could be an idea is a plug and play unit to attach or a vat warmer

Great stuff bud :-) the price in all of these keeps coming down. I got my first printer it was the Mars 3 I got in on the pre order like 4 or 5 days before it ended got 50 Euro off it and now we are getting 8k printers for little more than the 4k ones two years ago ha Also damn didnt know you had a cults I checked it out and well I have to say I will getting 2 or 3 things for sure :-) they all look great!!

Major pros i think is the autofil and hinge open instead of seperate piece.
Major con foot plate and autofill not working.

I wish more youtubers were as thorough in their reviews as you are. I recently pre-order the Anycubic M5s because of the promo price and the advertised features. However, I wonder if I would have been better served by a smaller printer such as the mini 8ks or the new M2. As many have said, for tabletop miniatures 4K is more than enough. So, I do not know. I might buy a smaller printer later on if I find out that those 12K are not as mind blowing as Anycubic claims.

what would you recommend as safety precautions for a resin printer at home? dont have a workshop or anything of the sort so I am a bit bined in regards to my options

  • @MrConna6
    @MrConna6 Год назад +2

I feel like I do want 12k just like I have a 120hz monitor to play pc games at 60fps, its a quality fail safe in a way, apart from that the levelling and changing of consumables like filters, cleaning and curing, and ventilation are the big things for me. Ventilation should be easy to attach a hose to or come with one tbh as 99% of people can easily poke it out a window and filters are an extra cost, cleaning and levelling are practicality things, I bet it’s a lot easier now but when I first got into printing levelling and resin seemed quite intimidating due to lack of support, knowledge, and ease. I honestly don’t rate speed very highly at all because as a wargamer I can have it printing a single tank all day while I build some plastic infantry or something, if I convert a model in plastic or resin sometimes a single marine can take a day to build 🤷‍♂️

Creality once in a while hits it out of the park.
In this case with the halot mage series they took some nice steps forward, but with some blind leaps backwards in design function.
Have yet to purchase a resin printer, I live on retail worker wage so options are limited of purchase range. I like the potential here but think I'll keep waiting till they smooth these issues out in the next generation or two. I'm far more familiar with FDM printers and being able to after market modify those with their open source design.

I actually had the opportunity just a week ago to sit down for about 5 hours with some team managers at Creality and hash out my own ideas about where the industry is at, including redesigning several parts to improve their performance.
So, if they took it all in, change is coming.

A little overthinking about "flaws" of this printer. First thing that got on my mind, just wipe the nozzle when it is lifted and only then remove the tray. That will prevent any spill of the resin. It is just an obvious thing.

Having designed many industrial machines with lcd screens, this is usually the sequence of events that occur
1- you pick the lcd screen that you need from a lcd manufacturer and hope it will be available for many years to come.
2- manufacturing builds the product you designed
3- next year, sales team wants a product refresh, ( nothing generates more sales then a product update)
4- design for a product refresh and its then that you find the lcd manufacturer has also updated their lcd product line and your original lcd is no longer available.
5- you design for a new lcd screen that is available. ( usually higher pixel density and or screen size)
6- next year the cycle repeats again and again and again.

Im honestly surprised 3d printers still need to be super levelled, I would of thought they could make a flat spot to print from with a raft and the plate just had to not go far enough to damage the fep. I got the anycubic photon s (iirc) and I had a hard time levelling it which paired with the fumes led to me selling it

You can download them from creality cloud or from pages like cults 3d or thingaverse etc. You then slice them (if required) on your PC with the provided software from the printer, put it onto the USB, put the USB into the printer and you're away.

I'd rather have these company's invest more money not in the resolution of their printers and features you might need but more on more durable functional parts like the light, screen and FEP, having these parts last longer and longer is what will make more people want to buy these.

    • @GlitchSystem-xf7jb
      @GlitchSystem-xf7jb 8 месяцев назад +1

Companies nowadays don't want things to last longer when they want you to keep buying things so they can have a big steady stream of money flowing in and to please stock holders

this race for as many K's as possible is just getting dumb, there is just alot of deminishing returns.
higher resolution only start making sense on larger screens, Elegoo has a 12k saturn printer with a smaller build volume and the 6k on this 10.3 inch screen already creates practically perfect prints with such a high amount of detail
