Grab yourself a UV flashlight , then take a brush and dip some of that resin onto the broken part, hold the UV light up to it as you hold it in place , and sometimes you can get a pretty decent repair for those broken pieces
Dipping the print in hot water is the best way to soften up the supports, they just peel off when you do that!
thank you!!!
My favorite youtuber someone who actually thinks about practicality and gives brute opinions man love it
I really liked this review especially as someone who was thinking about upgrading to this machine, a couple of things that I have learned from my time with resin printers
1) replace their generic USB, almost every company sends a low quality USB that can cause problems later
2) any sheet of letter or A4 paper can be used for calibration
3) I always use a calibration matrix when I get a new resin type, different colors and brands need different settings to look their best, I recommend the calibration matrix V2, and just use a sharpie to write the settings used on it. Might decrease the time or increase the time to really hone in exposure time.
4) I always try to have the most detailed part of a model at the top, it holds the detail the best, usually that's the top of a model anyways but not always.
Best of luck, I really enjoyed this review.
Excellent. Thanks. These are really helpful for someone new like me. Where can i find the calibration matrix V2?
Top effort for filming your first go at 3D resin printing without knowing how it was going to turn out. Thumbs up from me
After removing the print from the build plate, use a hair dryer or heat gun on the supports to remove them easily. Heat makes resin really soft!
For future reviews, please consider what software or slicers can be used with each printer. The more different slicers you can use, the better -- the more locked down the printer and the software are, the worse.
Thanks for the Tip! Both of them actually. I'll definitely use them for future review videos and prints.
Thanks for this video. This is what I was searching for.
I did not have the calibration paper with mine, just used a piece of paper. Even with the filter, you still can still smell the resin unless you can pipe that out of the room. My biggest concern with this printer is that you have to use Halot Box software to slice your prints. The software is extremely buggy and prone to freeze up or close out. You can use Chitubox to hollow out prints and add supports then save and open in Halot Box to slice, but it just adds extra steps to the entire process. Print quality is good. I had a power flicker and the printer does not appear to have an option to recover printing. Overall it is a nice printer with very good quality prints, but some basic fixes would make it much nicer. This was also my first resin printer and honestly I wish I had gone with a different printer that didn't have some of the issues this one has like a standard file format for other slicers and a print recovery option.
Chitubox and Lychee will eventually catch up on support, because those softwares were promised to be able to support this printer. I've read a bit about this and apparently Creality somehow managed to release the printer way too early and too cheap (40% instead of $40 less for a few days in US lol). The slicer software producers didn't really know about this printer. But they're working on it. I guess we'll have to wait
Since you are new to Resin printing. here is a pro tip:
use a heat gun to heat up the finished print to make support removal easy
Thanks for the tip. Definitely helpful!
Try soaking in hot tap water and the support will come off like peeling a properly cooked shrimp
You forgot the close up
Uhhhhhhh. I just bought this and thought it was relatively small. I I mean, I'm not complaining. I'm just surprised how good a price i got.
Well done nice review !!
I'm having a problem with the software. When I put more than one model on the plate, slice and save it is only saving one model. What am I doing wrong? I select all before slicing but nothing.
One of the things that caught my attention is the filter, I wonder how is the smell in your room, I give up resin printer because of the smell of it. Having an embedded filter system might worth if there is no smell.
It helps a lot. I only had an oder initially, but i think it was that new printer smell. In my latest prints, I dont smell anything, but it also means you probably have to make sure you replace the filter regularly
I also have this printer and i can still smell it strongly, just use the pipe to get the odors out of the room, they really are toxic!
Sooo does it holds up after half of a year?
WHICH ONE ?? Anycubic M5s - or - Creality Halot-Mage Pro - or - Elegoo Saturn 8k - or - ?????? ................ There are great options out there so which one??? Anycubic 12K & Auto leveling is impressive . Creality Halot-Mage pro has a autofill, tilt lid.
Hello fellow youtuber. Doing a video on my Pro. My resin vat is WHITE, rather than clear like yours. Did you remove film, off camera?
Nope. Mine didn't have a film. It could be different for the Pro model though. I will have my Pro model in a couple of days and can let you know though
that almost white vat film is normal.
Not to be a downer but the specs you were isting off are for the Halot Mage Pro not the Mage
Thanks for the heads up. Which specs were not accurate? They both have pretty much the same specs with the exception of the following:
170mm/h on the Pro vs 100mm/h
The Resin Pump on the Pro
Higher Light intensity on the Pro
@@ChrisLoh normal mage prints at Max 40mm/h for example, worst screen
No wonder it 19hrs for that relatively smallish print
FYI, it's not Styrofoam, it is expanded polypropylene foam. Much stronger, shock absorbing and resists permanent compression.
Thanks! Didn't know what it was called.
I have couple of doubt/questions: did you need to add more resin to the vat? Or there was resin left after it was finished? What did you do in any of those cases?
I didn’t need to add more resin for the print in the video. I actually had a pretty good amount left that I put back in the bottle
You can leave the resin there for months, no worry about it.
since you have a bambu lab... why not do a compare between this vs FDM bambu lab ? and maybe also do a acetone vapor smoothing is it a real resin can do all
Thanks for the recommendation. I was actually planning to do a Benchy comparison. I just wanted to make sure i got more experience with the Resin printer first. Coming Soon.
I thought that this non Pro model does not have Wifi?
Is it a review or a self-learning video of how it works?? You are more ignorant than me who don't have any printer at all. LOL!
Are this machine suitable to making jewelery with wax resine
yes!
I just got my halot mage the calibration card is missing where can I get one
It is the piece of paper with a barcode on it
@@ChrisLoh it was not in the box
@@dragonshoarddesign3094 really. That is strange. I can scan a copy of mine and send it to you. It is literally just a piece of paper with a barcode on it. I’m not even sure if the barcode is needed
@@ChrisLoh I just used a piece of paper
Yeah I didn't get the calibration card with mine either but a regular piece of paper worked ok
You only need to cure for like 10 minutes or they will get really brittle.
lol its $1000 in NZ
the smell bad? i wish to get resin but house too small affair smell too toxin
This is NOT 12x faster than most available printers, at 40mm per hour it's one THE slowest printers available.
The Halot Mage PRO 8k does 170 mm per hour. That is the one your referring to, but it's not the one your are reviewing, lol.
If you are going to do paid shill reviews at least make sure you are giving the correct info for the model you are reviewing.
First resin printer but acting like a sale's person. For people who are first time resin printer's this is a very misinformed person to watch
This is not Creality's first Resin Printer. They have a few. I also clearly state that this is my first experience with a Resin printer and am definitely not anywhere near an expert.
@@ChrisLoh i never said it was their first resin printer. I've had the ld-002 , ld-006, halot one , halot lite and know have the halot mage 8k and many other printers like voxelab proxima 6 4k and the flashforge 8.9 4k and phrozen 8k mega so you did not clearly read what i wrote and further more
What you were showing verse what you were doing made you seem like a sales person with no real knowledge of what you are doing
@@ChrisLoh your first resin printer not creality my guy
All credit to you Chris for having the guts to film your first experience without knowing how it was to turn out. Your video sure lets other people know what to expect.
Well done regardless
Don't listen to the Knockers
@@andymc8355 blah blah blah . like i said the sales pitch sales man attitude was what i was referring to
How do you get new files onto your machine it doesnt have wifi
I have been using the USB Thumb Drive Unfortunately. The new models should have WiFi
