    Between Eagle Rare 25 and the "Prohibition" collection, it seems to indicate that they would rather produce scarcity instead of ready and available. Awesome take, Trev. 🥃

    Sorry on the fence.... don't know to be mad at Buffalo Trace for their crazy high prices on stuff.... or to applaud them knowing they could put out Old Buffalo Trace Socks for $500 and people would line up at the gift shop for days or camp out in chairs for just the chance to sniff them.... just sayin.....

    😆 Can't wait to hear the first report of what it tastes like. Somebody ... sometime ... is going to open it and taste it and tell the world what it tastes like. Wouldn't that be funny if it just tastes like wood!
    My question is what does it do to the secondary value of the bottle if it gets out that it tastes awful?

    • @TheBourbonWrench
      @TheBourbonWrench  11 месяцев назад

      Absolutely nothing would change. There only being 200 bottles, it doesn’t even matter. Half of the reports coming out will be rich people “ooooh this is the best thing I’ve ever had” and we can only take that at face value lol

    BT is making over 2,000 barrels of whiskey every single day. 700,000+ barrels a year. They set aside SIX barrels of hyper-aged bourbon to offer to the super wealthy who can afford it, and everyone loses their shit over it 😂 as a fellow poor person who will never own one of these bottles, I still find it hilarious to see all the hurt feelings over it.

    • @TheBourbonWrench
      @TheBourbonWrench  11 месяцев назад

      What’s sad is of those 700,000 per year barrels; I can’t get any of their products here. So I don’t even care. They’ve somehow become a brand that is “cool to get” when I don’t know where any of the hype is coming from. We can’t even get their core products here which is an absolute joke. They don’t taste THAT good; so why are people pushing down grandmas for Eagle rare?
      That’s what makes me upset; you can’t even get you’re standard stuff out to the the market, yet you continue to pump out these absurd bottles that are strictly for hype and money. It just proves that they don’t care at all for their base consumer and care about profit only. They know it’ll sell, so who cares if Billy in the middle of nowhere gets a bottle of eagle rare? We make our profit so f that guy” it’s just ridiculous. Is it soley their fault? Nope, this market has lost its mind. They just have fully embraced their stupid popularity and are milking it as hard as they came.

      @@TheBourbonWrench yeah I completely understand that frustration. That doesn’t have much to do with this release though. In my area, I can find the regular releases (ER, WSR, EHT SmB, Blanton’s) pretty commonly now. They don’t sit for very long, but with some minimal effort hunting, at least I can find them these days. Admittedly I don’t know much about distribution, and welcome any info you may have, but I feel a lot of the current issues we are having lies with the distributors, not the producer. Hopefully they can start getting those regular release products out to the masses sooner than later 🤞

    I bet they are sick of all the flippers making a crap load of cash on there products, so they where like “screw it we might as well charge the astronomical price right up front and make the money our self”

    ER17 and Double Eagle already exist and likely contain older juice, so chances are they already have a bunch of these barrels and just decided to release them at 25. That's $400 per year though. If Pappy 23 is around $4-5000, I don't understand the jump in price.
    Let me just take out a second mortgage and I'm all over it. Lol

    • @nickg8643
      @nickg8643 11 месяцев назад

      Pappy 23 is $299.99 MSRP from Buffalo Trace. You’re stating its secondary market price. This bottle is $10,000 MSRP for two extra years. So it’s a $9,700 dollar price jump for two years extra in the barrel. Hell MSRP of ER17 is $99.99. So this bottle is a hundred times that for MSRP for an extra few years

    Yeah... I'm done with all of Buffalo Trace's bullshit and fluff. It's like they are pissing on their core clientele in some halfass attempt to become a luxury brand. Forget all of your new fancy shit and use your big, bad expansion to increase the supply of the stuff we ALREADY want and can't get!!!

    • @Jasonmounce
      @Jasonmounce 11 месяцев назад +1

      Even with a SRP increase this year, their price on the BTAC line is still $125 a bottle. Why are you so mad at them for releasing a hyper limited, “luxury brand” bottle if they have the clientele that is lined up to purchase it? They are in a balancing act. I’ll never see or be willing to shell out the money for a bottle like this, but I don’t hate them for offering it. I think it’s cool to see. It’s business, and they’re here to make a profit at the end of the day.

    Their stuff isn’t all that great
    I mean it’s all pretty good some stuff is even really good but it’s all the hype that makes them so sought
    After and drives the prices way up

    This is a status symbol for rich people, much like older Scotch from overrated brands like Macallan. This sort of thing has been going on with Scotch for a long time, albeit with higher age statements and considerably higher prices. Bourbon older than about 12 years gets to be rather sketchy, while Scotch is usually still in great shape at 25 years. Maybe Buffalo Trace has figured out how to make it work, but they don't really have to. All they need to do is put some 25-year-old bourbon that hasn't been completely ruined by the barrel into a fancy bottle and hype it up. Rich people looking for a status symbol will buy it even if it is only of mediocre quality. They will probably use it as a shelf decoration anyway. I bet many of these bottles won't even be opened.
