    I really don’t know how I would do what I’m doing without your videos. Thank you many times over.

    The American cars had a higher suspension than the European models due to regulations and I guess the arms just weren't big enough any more so they made them in USA that's my understanding.

    did you need to remove the center console from the car to get the transmission out?

    • @ELDESTBuilds
      @ELDESTBuilds  3 года назад +1

      I think you could drop it with the console in. Need too disconnect the shifter housing, boot and shiny handle to slide it through the rubber boot on the floor plate.

      Maybe fast forward to the reinstall video for a better understanding of how to get it out and in.

    wish you didnt skip the important parts. how did you get the shifter off?

    • @ELDESTBuilds
      @ELDESTBuilds  4 года назад

      The knob will unscrew. The shiny part of the lever is attached to the other part by a plastic clip. The clip is circular inside. If you look you can see it in there. Carefully pry it down with a screwdriver. There are grooves, you will see them. Then the long lever will slide off.

      @@ELDESTBuilds no thats ok, thank you. Got it all figured out now. Transmission lost 5th gear. Looks like the unit was overhauled before. The synchro sleeve was installed backwards

    Are you going to be rebuilding the Transmission it replacing it with a new one?

    • @ELDESTBuilds
      @ELDESTBuilds  4 года назад +1

      Disassemble to replace seals and gaskets only. The car only has 43k and was running before it was parked. Spinning the trans thru the gears by hand, doesn't lead me to think there's an internal issue.

      @JD-vl5yh 4 года назад +1

      @@ELDESTBuilds very nice. Ours only had 53000 but hadn't been treated very nice, so it's getting replaced. Keep an eye out in the fluid for glitter. The original gl1 fluid is a must. The new stuff has chemicals in it that wear the soft metals away fast.

      J D, I see a question about shifting gears when the transmission was out, but I can't find it to answer directly. Yes, I could shift through the gears with the transmission on the bench. Hope this helps.

    "I'm not Italian, so I didn't engineer this d@mn thing," said every Fiat owner ever. (I mean, maybe except for the Italian ones.)
