ELDEST Builds
США
Добавлен 4 июл 2019
ELDEST Builds, stuff, things, from models to cafe racer motorcycles to full restorations of cars and trucks. You may thank my good friend DK for all you're about to see. It's not a comedy channel but some of the things I say are hilarious. None of that drama stuff, just building things and sometimes talking about it. It's about the work. I had my first dirt bike at age six. A 1975 Honda XR 75 and have been riding ever since. I was taught how to maintain it properly and that began my interests in tinkering around with engines. I rebuilt the 305 cu in my 1977 Chevrolet Camaro using a Chilton's manual at 15, upgraded to a 355 SBC at 17 and rebuilt it to a 383 stroker with 455 hp at 21. While enlisted in the USMC, I rebuilt a 75 MG Midget, a 76 Toyota FJ, a 77 Porsche 924, and many more. I have grown to enjoy working on cars, trucks and motorcycles. The 1992 Ducati 900SS has been a dream bike for a long time. Having a bike that is over 30 years old and ride like the wind is amazing.

my god that's a clean looking car, i had 79 i bought at 17 for 150 bucks and it was dirty, a little rusty and very faded i miss it all the time, what a fantastic car they were
Thanks buddy, it's been a year long build. Check out the Playlist ruclips.net/p/PLztQ_TJfa0HX-ZZVa4fTXuLDySkxBwCiW&si=j1lMLUszYQkKCfiV
@@ELDESTBuilds yeah i was looking at that, awesome stuff, back in the 90s i was gonna try and shove a dodge turbo 2.2 in mine, cause those engines at that time were all over the boneyards, even better would have been an olds quad 4
Thank you as usual for your videos!
@@iv3shf welcome
the auto shop told me rear right speed sensor is dead but it's in the bearing, wanted €400 to fix. 2017 Tucson exact same issue here. Was I being robbed?
The reluctor wheel is in the hub. It sends the pulses to the sensor. Shop probably wants to replace all the components in the system. Parts and labor sounds about normal
Good work and excellent
Thanks buddy
Thanks for your helpfull video!! Any idea why my seat belt lights stays always on? I think it’s because of some relay but I can’t find anything online
Roll the drivers seat forward and check the connections belt on the tunnel.
@@ELDESTBuildsthank you! I blow on the cable and now it works😂
@andreadepoi4925 good for you
Back saver 👍
Absolutely
Excellent explanation for ppl who don't know anything about cars..
Glad you liked it
Had not seen the GEL method for balancing...I've used the BEADS before...worked great. Gel would be quieter...although you only heard the beads when pushing the bike around with the motor off.
I think it works just as good. Lasts until you pull the tire. Not as easy to transfer as the beads. I can feel both coming off a hard acceleration, shakes a bit until they catch up again. Another benefit is the gel is a pucture sealer, but I try not to need that part.
I gotta get me one of these cars
You would like it. You got skills, you can do it
@ I have the skills, just not the money 😂
I'm confident you can get more DollarBucks. You could always start a Fiat shop.
The speedo cable should be two-piece. Remove the plastic vent in the cowl and you can detach the long cable where it joins the short cable.
Thanks buddy, this one is a single cable
The tach needle wasn't off by 500, most Italian cars of the era park the needle at 500rpm.
According to the electronic timing light the tach was off by 500 rpm. That's why I moved it
You use the same LED bulb reference for the dash board lights and the rear lights?
The side maker lights, the small rectangle lights on both sides of the car. On this one, the yellow on the front fender and the red on the rear fender.
Happening to mine, but I’ve put less than 30 pods, so wondering if it’s more than just a bearing “wearing out” Been successful in just forcing it loose. Noticed it’s when the machine hasn’t been used in a week or so.
Moisture inside the bearing, causing rust, which makes it lock up and gritty when spinning.
Is there anything 12valve owners should avoid getting wet
Try not to soak the air cleaner, but everything else should be fine. Most of the electrical stuff is weather pack connections. I used the pressure washer on it multiple times and did not have any issues.
@ thank you there’s a big p/s leak underneath & I wanna clean it so I can find where it’s coming from but I appreciate the response !
I have not reinstalled my carpet yet but mine (a 74) had screws holding it down and I was worried about finding the old holes. I like tape idea. Anything special with your two sided tape?
It's a velcro tape, so I can get back in there if necessary. Sticks well to the back of the carpet. Clean the metal or sound deadening side with wax and grease remover. I haven't had any issues with it
How do you fix a rich running webber carb
Smaller jets is the usual way. There's a number on each of them, top of the carb. You can buy a set and go down 2 sizes and see how it does. The best way is with an AFR guage it uses a wide band 02 sensor. I demonstrate here on an injected model. ruclips.net/video/fJF4mptm_gk/видео.htmlsi=KuxFy6daKXx2O3yr
Best video about this fix I’ve found. Thank you! Making coffee no longer wakes up the neighbors!
Thanks, I'm glad the video helped you
A little degraded you say? You should add the 123 Distributor.
Mmm, I got something new
Thanks for the video tutorial. I had one replace at the Hyundai dealership first. After watching this, instead of paying $140 at the dealership, I paid only about $13 for the bulb and changed it in 5 minutes.
You're welcome, I'm glad the video helped you
Very interesting the modification with the 10 micron washable filter. thanks
@danyela1956 it is easy to service, and replacing 40-year fuel lines is much safer
Hello , did you support engine from underneath when replacing mount ? Will engine drop a lot if not supported? Thank you
@positive82a55 Yes, there's a floor jack under there. I also replaced the accessories belt, which is a huge PITA, but I had to remove the motor mount to lower the engine to get it off and on anyway. So, if you are doing this job, there's also a video for that job.
@@ELDESTBuilds Thank you for your answer. Just mount at the minute , all the best from Poland :)
Welcome
Would have loved to see how you put the floor jack! That's what I'm nervous about! I have a 2017 F55 so seeing this is great. Thanks for leaving the struggles in the video too! I hate how most videos make everything look so easy!😂
@MiketheMike238 the motor mount is pretty straightforward. That serpentine belt is the PITA. 2X4 Block on top of the jack and placed it under the oil pan. Motor rocks a bit but it didn't hurt anything.
Mine still making more water than coffee. It's like the water is going through the pod. The pod is spinning. I can hear it, and when I open the machine after the brewing, the pod is at a different spinning position. What did I do wrong? How do I fix it?
@@mikel3066 I would check the top side again. See that water injection stuff is fully seated

Hey bro im having problems with my weber carburetor maybe you can help me out i clean the carburetor because i though it was the problem now i start my trucks but it won't stays once i tap the gas it goes off completely what should I do
Check for vacuum leaks. Give the screws on top of rhe carb a twist. Give the carb and intake nuts a twist. Check for cracked or missing vacuum hoses.
The base is epoxied to glass, same as the 124 sport.
Yes, I reglued a few back on now. Use the review mirror adhesive kit.
My '81 Spider 124 is running rich. I cant figure out why. Any thoughts?
Oh, I have many. I just went thru tuning the Jetronic on my 84 X19. The car will run with the 02 sensor lead from the ECU grounded. On this car it's a green wire. Background: I tried to tune the jetronic with a voltmeter hooked up to the 02 sensor. One lead to the sensor, one lead to ground. The 02 sensor makes voltage when heated 0-1 volt +/-. More voltage, more rich. I fatted that mix into the 9s. Retuned with the stock sensor removed and a wideband AFR installed. It tunes nicely in the 12s and stays pretty consistent thru the rpms. Removed AFR guage and hooked up stock 02 sensor. Tuning went nuts, running rich, wouldn't rev past 5k. Removed exhaust and welded in a second 02 bung. Hooked up everything back into 9s and 10s at WOT. Spent the rest of the day making adjustments to try and get it right. Kept running it rich. Unplugged stock 02 sensor and retuned to where it was before. Runs great. Plug stock 02 sensor and back to crap. Unplugged stock 02 sensor, zip tie outta the way and grounded the ECU lead and tuning was back to where I want it. You can tune the jetronic with an AFR using the existing bung and leave it there. Ground the ECU lead for all of this. Put your old stock 02 sensor on the shelf. The video will be out shortly

Welcome, I'm glad the video helped you
Thank you for taking the time to walk through each step. So helpful!
Very welcome. I'm glad the video helped you.
Cannot believe you didn't clean those bolts, nuts and washers before placing them back in the car. So unlike you! 😱 PS: Ratcheting Wrench might help.
They were in a different bag.
I feel your frustration as I struggle with this job also. Diagram and photos in the shop manual are poor. Your video helps a lot, so thanks!
The worst job ever. Congratulations buddy, I'm glad the video helped you.
Thank you for sharing your Build. I bought a wrecked Fiat and your Videos are valuable to the DIY-r in me.
Good for you. I'm glad the videos are helping you
Can the sensor 'only' be replaced? Or does one have to do the whole wire up to the top?
Usually, it has a connector part of the way. This wheel speed sensor has a connection under the plastic fender liner.
I got Code P2159 Speed Sensor B on my 2017 Tuscan AWD Ult Ltd with ABS. Which one is that? Front or Rear? At the hub or transmission? I have no idea what Part to look for. With No Chilton/Haynes/Eq Repair Manuals available for this car, it is driving me nuts.
I'm not clear on that code, but google says it's may be on the transmission. The wheel speed sensor issue I had was on the SRS program of the scanner
Great video as I am just at this point with mine. I am wondering why did you have to drill holes for the trim? Shouldn't you be able to reuse the existing holes? I found that stainless steel screws were much stronger and did not break in other areas of the car.
Stainless for sure, I used #10 screws instead of #8. Broke a few screwing them in and predrilled the rest.
Hello! Apologies for the late comment. I recently purchased a 1981 Fiat 124 Spider. The previous owner disconnected the heater, so I bought a new heater core and lines and just reconnected it. I found your videos on the heater core extremely helpful. Thanks! I hooked the lines up just like you have them here, and the heater seems to work great. But while casually visiting other videos on the heater, I just realized that I may have the lines reversed. I put the outboard line - or left line when looking at the lines at the back of the engine compartment like you have here - to the water pump. This is the line with the valve/control on it. I hooked the outlet line (or inboard line, line on the right side) to the head. A parts catalog I referenced had the lines set up like this as well, and that seemed to make sense if the water pump is pushing coolant in that direction. But other engine photos I have found since have the lines hooked up the opposite way. Have you noticed any problems with your heater since install? People have said on forums that it doesn't matter which line is hooked up where, but I don't know. Thanks again!
Up late wrenching on the X19. I'm glad the video helped you. It will flow hooked up either way.
Thank you so much, this was a very helpful video and made it super easy for me to change my car's headlight on my own!
You're welcome. I'm glad the video helped you.
I used the same glue and procedure. I knew the window puts a lot of pressure on the latch so I figured I'd leave it open just for show purposes. However, at a shop someone decided to lock the vent windows and sure enough, they dislodged both hitches and then tried to put them back with I think just crazy glue! Good grief. I will rather go next with universal hitches sold by Autoricambi whenever they have them back in stock.
These fell off after some time as well. I used the 3M rear view mirror adhesive kit and that has worked for now.
You ought to waste some more money and get some SS braided brake lines ................
Oh, I already did
@ELDESTBuilds LOL, beautiful expenditure of money. 👍
Love the work 🔥
Thanks buddy
👍🏽Currently attempting this on my VW GTI.
That will look awesome
@ thanks ! Any pointers you can share would be greatly appreciated
I think I put all the points in this series. You can watch the actual vids for more details. The hinge portion as close to the jamb and outer skin as possible to get the widest opening. Skinny doors, I bent it to fit inside and weld in extra bracing to reduce flex. Be prepared to cut and reweld a few times till you get it the way you want it.
Looks awesome as usual... ! (now building seats on my 73 124) Keep on making great vids, it helps all of us humble builders. Thank you!
Thanks, buddy. I'm glad you like the videos

@MrBloodyspine Maybe so, on this one I had to remove the whole thing. It was rather inconvenient.
Two of my brothers had X 1/9’s, that was a long time ago, but they were a blast!
Just took it on a 30 mile shakedown run
@ my brothers, and I thought about getting another one, how hard are they to get parts for?
