- Saturday, January 11th the Fiatsko died, on the side of the road, dead. This was never supposed to be a video in this series. The next video was going to be a Vick Auto header install and AFR tuning. I dunno when I'll get back to working on this car. It will take me a while.

Very sorry to hear the Fiatsko suffered major failure- you are for certain a genuine inspiration to all us Fiat enthusiasts. Fingers crossed the beg/expensive bits in your engine are salvageable. Wishing you much better luck when the disassembly comes about!
Thanks, I appreciate that!
Still this is a lesson for all of us enthusiasts that follow you, check extremely well your coolant lines, I got the engine for my 124 that the owner said it runs perfectly.... didn't trust him coz it was cheap, and had it checked... I thought, few things to do head leveling gaskets and so forth... know what? It cost me 4000€ it's now mint, but just think if I put it on... disaster avoided, but your lessons tells me... check and don't trust anything!!! Thank you for uploading and keep it up!
Ooof.. feel your pain. As a fellow Fiat guy (71 124 coupe) keep it up. Take a break, then come back to it. Do the carb conversion, and while you're at, may as well put a cam in it.
I'm putting in another temp gauge
Don’t be so hard on yourself, I have the 71 fiat (my Frankenstein car ) I keep going because of you and your videos. I plug away little by little because of you and your videos. Sometimes I can’t duplicate the repairs as good as you, but I keep trying, you have always been kind to everyone who asks you questions or needs your experience. Keep going.
Thanks buddy, I'm glad your car is still going. I took 6 days and pulled the engine. It's already at Vickauto.com for repairs.
@@thewilder-side2990 We second this motion.
@@ELDESTBuildsI’m glad to hear that, I didn’t know they do repairs. Do they rebuild the engine or swap it out. That’s great. I messed up rebuilding the distributor I messaged you about last week, got it all apart and I guess I mushroomed the shaft tapping it back in after I replaced the bearings and seal. I can’t turn the gear to put the pin back in, so I ordered a new distributor from Vicks. I’ll swap out the fast 700 for the electric one and their module . And I was so proud of myself and I messed up at the very end. I had the distributor all marked , so I’ll just follow your instructions. Line up the rooter and cap at the #4. While the distributor is facing number 1.
@thewilder-side2990 Vicks has an engine building service with a local machine shop.
Take a file and some sandpaper to the shaft. Smooth it out a bit. Can't really go wrong with the new one, though.
@@ELDESTBuildsI can’t get the gear back off….. tried the screwdriver trick tried the double wrench trick. Will a small gear puller work?
aw. WTF. Sorry about your loss.
thanks buddy
Sorry for the typo "beg", meant to say "big/expensive"
I got you
Jesse!!!!!!!!! So sorry to hear this. That was not a kick in the guts; that was a kick in the nuts! We could see the gleam in your eyes every time you finished something. Put her up; finish the truck and then you can dedicate yourself full time to restoring her and converting her to IDF's.
Meantime you can still join us for the FOTD RALLY runs. Fly into Chattanooga, we can pick you up. You can stay with us. You can share driving time in the Spider or the 7 if she is ready or the Ford Rally car. It will rid your mind of "hammer therapy" and help with Fiat Inspiration. So sorry once again.
Thanks Doc and Princess
@RogueTS1 I made it six days. The engine is at Vickauto.com already.
@@ELDESTBuilds So glad, still sorry it needs another go around but looking forward to her return.
Good Strategy. Sometimes you just have to walk away and ReGroup. Your videos are a Goldmine for Fiat owners.
Thank You!
JD
Thanks buddy
oh man, that hurts. Can't wait to see you pull it apart to assess the damage. It may just be the head gasket.
It's was fun, right up to the part where it wasn't. I waited 6 days and started taking it apart.
@@ELDESTBuilds hey friend I have the 1986 two tone blue, how do I pop out the front side markers?
The manual says to pop em out..
It feels like they’ll crack if I do it..
@markgjidoda2745 uhh, those lights DO NOT pop out. Open the flap for the headlights, the side markers have two nuts holding them on. And the headlight motors are in the way
Time for a stiff drink.
I did that
Soldier on. The X1/9 you have is well worth the pain and effort. Go get a Guinness.
Thanks buddy
