Question 3 was skipped. IMO, it's perfectly fine to unravel and re-knit the yarn from a swatch! I do this all the time. In general, if I was to keep a swatch intact, it would feel like I'd wasted the yarn, but that's just me.
I know this is super late, but I like to use spare yarn for sleeves and tie an overhand knot to make the loop about the size of the sleeve so it can't stretch out. Using those little craft clips also helps areas I don't want stretching. They're also great for clipping things out of the way and for organizing yarn.
Just to share I live down on the NJ Shore and when hurricane Sandy hit, power was out, I sorted a fleece by candlelight and prepped it for scouring. I connected with my sisters from the past🙏
Interesting. I knit looser on wood than metal. And my gauge doesn't seem to change when I switch between Continental and English. But I completely agree that one should swatch with the needles one is going to use for the project.
Really fun to watch you two ! And I love the color of Rachel's Weekender, now I want to knit one that color !! I'm a fairly new knitter and I've only knit socks and shawls, but I have been thinking about knitting the weekender. See you next week Andrea!
I have similar symptoms to Rachel's when my small hiatal hernia flares up. It is a very hard to diagnose condition (hernia can slide in and out). Best thing for me was finding a chiropractor who can teach you how to self adjust the hernia back to where it belongs and see if that helps your symptoms. I was able to get off my antacids completely and feel so much better now. 💕
I’m knitting your Stria sweater. My problem the opposite of what you addressed about the sleeves being too small. I have completed the body and it fits perfectly.,😁👏🏻. However when I knit the 1st sleeve I realized about 8” down that the sleeve was going to be HUGE. I have taken it out several times and hope you can give me a way to reduce the # of stitches in the sleeve w/o having to rip out the entire body of the sweater😱. I love the pattern and enjoyed knitting the stitch pattern and stripes. 🤞🏻you have a magic solution. Thanks Ann Ewald
Really nice podcast that answered some of my own questions. I really love the yarn that your guest is using to knit the weekender. Would you mind sharing what yarn/color that is? Thank you so much!
Sleeve problem, I do the sleeves first (magic loop, two at a time) this way I always have the sleeve length I want and can knit the body till I run out of yarn, or to the length I want.
Andrea -- I am si excited you are going to pricess some raw fleece to spin. Doing this is a real game changer! And spinning with this is SO different than using the over processed commercial rovings and tops. And such a difference in the finished yarns. I am looking forward to hearing abiut this experience. Start looking for local sheep farms! I love going on shearing days.
Rachel, I have a same problem. But normally when it happens to me it’s after pain killers and o end up on the ground crying thinking it’s a heart attack. I still haven’t totally figured out what causes it.
I am saving this episode for when I need a laugh. You two are too much! Without getting too graphic, there’s a syndrome related to excess acid building up and causing esophageal burning. The name of it is something like ‘Bell’s syndrome’ and essentially the acid is taking the off ramp when it should be taking the on ramp. 40 years ago we called it ‘agita’. When I went to Ravelry to get details about Inclinations I was confused by references to Fishermen’s Rib and then later, Half Fisherman’s Rib. I’m going to just suck it up and gauge away in both, eh? Thanks for the fun.
Good luck with the fleece processing! I met you at Starlight this past December and was so happy to share my DRK everyday sweater made from my hand processed yarn 😊 good call on the drum carder 😉
Love your weekly chat! As much as needle makers try to keep things consistent there are differences. Also, wood is less stable than metal….it is porous. So, they do change based on humidity etc…
I just discovered your podcast and can’t get enough! Recently watched the Bob’s your uncle episode😂. I loved the comment because it reminded me of a math professor I had in college. She was English and every time we finished a proof correctly, she would say “And Bob’s your uncle!” #memories❤
Hello Andrea I have come across a RUclips Knitting Podcast called Laine and Simple In her first episode She shows one of your Shawls that She was Knitting and States She will be Selling it in Her Online Shop… ❤
My barber cords were sticking to my yarn and it took forever to get the stitches transferred off of them. A friend of mine had a similar experience and finally gave up trying to use them. Does this not happen for you?
@@sallyickes6953 Yeah, that’s what I’ve done for years and still do. I was given a set of barber cords and heard how many people love them, so I was just surprised by my experience. That’s all.
Imagine knitting in a cafe and Andrea Mowry and Rachel of Spincycle stop by your table to say hi omg way to win at knitting wow

So great to see Rachel on I’ll Knit if I Want To !!!
Such a nice surprise to see Rachel! Hope you both have a great time visiting ❤

Thanks for this lovely episode. Has Rachel been tested for H Pilori, a bacteria that can cause stomac ulcers ?
I totally find that switching from metal to wood needles is like sizing up a half needle size. I’m an English knitter FWIW.

Thank you for such a fun episode. What a surprise to see Rachel! I smiled through the whole thing 😃

Hooray! So happy to hear that you’re going to washing all that wool up. I can’t wait to hear all about it.
Great for you to meet up and chat with us 😊

Watching as I started casting off my big cozi cardi! So excited!!
Another winner episode and bonus with special guest Rachel! ♥️🤗🎉🥳🧶😊
Hey there…..you missed answering question #3 about swatches. It’s something I’ve always wondered about.

Happy Mother's Day weekend
Awww that’s a super fun surprise!!!
I love rachel's style and vibe :)
So cool to see you both!
My gauge is different on bamboo and metal even using the same yarn and size needle
Great podcast thank you ☕️🧶😍
Good luck with the fleece processing! I met you at Starlight this past December and was so happy to share my DRK everyday sweater made from my hand processed yarn 😊 good call on the drum carder 😉
Great podcast as usual . Nice to see Rachel

Seeing Rachel’s Weekender made me wanna cast on Mine! 💪🏻
Very nice and cheerful episode 😊thanks

Where did Rachel get her Tshirt?! It's lovely!
Hi from Washingtin!!! 85degrees!!
So lovely and funny. Thank you ❤
Thank you for an inspiring episode❤
Aw, that was a nice one!
This was a fun episode!
Hello Andrea
I have come across a RUclips Knitting Podcast called Laine and Simple
In her first episode She shows one of your Shawls that She was Knitting and States She will be Selling it in Her Online Shop… ❤
Barber cords are perfect for underarms! And they don’t stretch out the underarm sleeves!
My barber cords were sticking to my yarn and it took forever to get the stitches transferred off of them. A friend of mine had a similar experience and finally gave up trying to use them. Does this not happen for you?
Instead of barber cords just use a length of thinner yarn
@@sallyickes6953 Yeah, that’s what I’ve done for years and still do. I was given a set of barber cords and heard how many people love them, so I was just surprised by my experience. That’s all.
I love your cowl! The colors are amazingly vibrant and exude happiness!
A guest 😮
Where can you find out how to do the math for knitting a sweater to your size. I am terrible at math and do not even know how to start.
You skipped the question I was waiting for.
