Your joy about knitting your hand spun yarn might just turn me into a spinner ... Thanks !

I use crochet thread for lifelines. You can get a variety of sizes in about 300 to 500 yrd balls for a few dollars and since it is cotton (usually mercerized) it doesn't felt, is strong and you can pull up on it to recapture your stitches if they try to recede into your work below.

I found on the net last week, you can have a more consistent striping yarn by dividing the braid into 2 or 4. Then spin from the fold, i.e. fold the edge over your finger and spin from there.

I love coco knits maker board for then I cable, so convenient to store the needle on the magnetic board. Makes it way easier to keep track of

I hope no one laughs, but I actually use a toothpick for cabling.... Or one of those circular "shawl pins"....that I only found out recently are actually a cable needle. I just put that in the fabric of my knitting & it doesn't fall out.

Yes! Combination knitting is where it's at! I love it, it helped me become a better knitter, a tutorial would be amazing to share this awesome technique. Loving your weekender, can't wait to see it done!

The cords actually come in 2 sizes. Maybe not in the Barber brand but my lys carries them in the original smaller size and a slightly larger size for needles size about 7 and larger. I had the same problem as your question poster and it was obviously due to the needle being too large. When I pushed the cord on far enough so it didn’t come off the cord split. I always move my stitches carefully and it still pulled loose with the smaller cord. The brand I have is called Minnie and Purl.

First time. two color ANYTHING :-) Struggled with the tubular cast-on and finally opted to use longer straight needles for. the first two rounds to help in keeping stitches straight (I did need to transfer stitches to allow for the slide) then transferred to my shorter interchangeable needles. This worked perfectly! Loving this pattern 🙂

Adding your new cowl to my list; originally I wasn’t sure if I “needed” another one… but yours is so beautiful! 😊

My favourite cable needle is a metal stitch holder that's shaped like a large safety pin. Because one end is closed, it never slides out when the stitches are on it. Then I hang it on my work waiting for next cable row.

I love my Barber cord stitch holders! I even washed and blocked the sleeves of my Spark cardigan while they held the live stitches. A fabulous notion that is a must in any project bag

Andrea, some months ago i happened on a vendor on etsy that sold that type of cord in 2 [iirc] sizes, but i've used my 1-size fits all ones on various needles w/ no problems, shoving them onto the tip firmly, as Andrea said. those cords are so helpful!

He’ll Andrea. Whenever I’m cabling, I make sure I’m wearing a watch that way I can store my needle under the strap until I need it 😊 minimizes the wrinkles created when pursing the lips 🤔🤣

Hi Andrea! Not sure if my question ever makes it, I'll re- enter it on the form. I was wondering how you do your yarn organization on the steeking stitch column when you're going across those stitches to the other side? Does the colorwork yarn stay on the side and get picked up later, does it follow the column down? Not sure that makes sense but I'll try the form again, it's been a couple months. Thanks for all the time! It's always a pleasure to watch. All the best! Kimberly

#5 or #10 crochet cotton also works well for lifelines and provisional cast ones. It’s also affordable.

Regarding the Knitting Barber cords: not all silicone tubes are the same. My sister had trouble with her tubing coming off her needles too, and it turns out that what she bought weren't actually the Knitting Barber tubes, but a similar product, that did not stay on the needles as well. It caused her to lose confidence in *all* silicone tubes, which is a shame because I wish everyone could enjoy theirs as much as I do mine!

    Hello Andrea,
    Enjoy your podcast.
Question: Have you noticed how much the cost of patterns has jumped in the past year? Why is that?
Not all designers have seen the need to charge $10.00 or more for a basic pattern, and I understand the push towards the 'all-inclusive sizing' trend, but does that mean the cost should jump to $12 or more?
    Just a thought 🤗💕
Ideal💡~ Why not offer patterns in size ranges as they do with sewing patterns (0 to 8, 10 to 16, 18 to 24), perhaps then the cost would be within everyone's budget, say $6 or $7 for a garment pattern. 😉

i tried the barber cord...and did not like them. the item i was making had tiny stitches, and i had great difficulty sliding them onto the cord, and back off...the stitches stuck to the cord. it was a nightmare. maybe for larger gauges tgey would be ok. word to the wise!
