I got the previous version dura’s on a lite 2door jk, work well overall in sand (most of my off-roading) and gravel roads. On the road they are really good, particularly in the wet on such a lite car. They have worn well as I rotate them every service. They are abit noisy but not like mud terrains, I don’t mind it tbh once the stereo is up you don’t hear anything haha. I have done about 50,000km’s and still got another 20 in them. I might be keen on these updated versions, but am looking at the boulder MT’s for the more aggressive look. May as well it’s not my daily.
Nice review man. Yes we loved their performance on sand … actually a lot espically in incline traction test. They do really great on softer terrains so mud sand and soft snow no problem for these guys.
Same thing is happening to me with those tires, even though I balanced all 4 and on paper looks like everything is on the green and align, the steering is shimmy
We’ll just have to wait and see with the new KOs. They have always used a harder rubber/less silica which was why they sucked in the wet, especially as they got some age and wear on them.
One thing not addressed which is a major concern, is increased highway tire noise as the tread wears. Mud Terrain tires are notoriously horrible for this, but how would you expect these 2 to fare?
Great point! Tire noise can definitely become an issue as tread wears down, especially with more aggressive patterns. Both the Goodyear DuraTrac RT and the BF Goodrich KO3 have designs aimed at reducing noise, but as they wear, you might still notice an increase. Mud Terrains are indeed notorious for this, so it's something to keep in mind!
Well than you’d be happy to check out the new Duratrac RTs performance. Just wait a few days, we are actually publishing a new video comparing both newer and older Duratrac variants.
You get to see a few variations here and there depending on location. Like for example all sizes available in CA are 3pmsfr. What differences are you seeing specifically?
in europe and Australia sidewalls have symetrical design.. even in your video you showed australian version a few times just watch closely...or visit eu or australia Goodyear site and take a look at sidewalls
wife's 23 4rnr has duratrack...and it is LOUD at anything below 45mph. She said keep them until they are worn. How's noise on the KO3's? My F250- has wranglers and do not like sandy loam in the pastures when towing tractor load. Looking to replace them. TY
Make sure your wife’s 4Runner doesn’t have the E load rated tires as they are for heavy duty use and will cause noise and chopped edges on the light 4Runner. I have the new duratracs RT on my Tacoma and they are real quiet
Went from the duratracs that came on my woman's runner to e rated ko3s and they are significantly quieter. Haven't had them long, but highly recommend. Going to go from e rated duratracs to f rated ko3s in 305/70r18 on my f250 this week
Actually I know what you’re saying They do go almost all the way, but its not the same pattern anymore. I am publishing a new video on Duratrac RT, where I addressed this issue.
I've had Duratracs on my last 3 trucks. Half ton.....I don't do E tires. Lite weight durable,I've never had a side puncture....but my offloading is mud,,sand and fields. Bit noisy on road, incredible traction in snow and ice till it wears down, then sucks. I resiped mine on 3rd winter.....huge difference. Mud....awesome. The rt has more siping.....winter traction will be even better. I stay stock size......275/60/20 The bfg doesn't appear to be available in that size......odd that the best selling half ton comes in that 20" size. I finally saw the rt's in person and pretty sure they r going on by winter.
The Duratrac is a great tire indeed. It's just that sidewall... is hideous looking. The KO2 and KO3 are great looking tires overall. They give any truck a "premium" look.
Sidewall failures were a huge issue with the OG Duratrac's. I ended up taking them off my trucks that came with the from the factory and swapping them with a higher ply rating Wildpeak.
@@John_Redcorn_ it's interesting that there's no Kevlar marks on the side wall of this new Duratrac RT in AU market, which marks could be seen on the Duratrac RT in US market.
I don’t about you guys but the duratrac rt was the worst tire I’ve ran up here in Saskatchewan on our gravel roads and mud lease roads only 42000 km and they are shot. The Chinese brand tires I got atleast 60-70000 km and half the price just my 2 cents
What a match-up! I've had DuraTrac tires on my truck for three years. I love them.
Same here!
I love Duratracs in mud and snow
So do we mate.
To summarize: The K03 is a slightly better on road tire. The Duratract RT is slightly better off road.
Yes, if you want to put it in a line.
But the Duratrac RT does better on wet and snowy roads so, in adverse conditions it’s the better on road tire too.
I'm on my 4th set of Good year Duratrac first generation! Looking forward
To trying the Duratrac RT 👍
Thanks for your review!
The Vermonter
Hey man welcome. What sizes are we looking at?
@@comparethetire one truck with Lt 275 /70R18 and other truck with 265/65R17
Okay make sure to get the exact load and speed rating you need. Don't go overboard with them (they help with efficiency and noise).

Had the original duratrac on my Tacoma. Great tire!! Have an f350 now. I heard they didn't last long on a heavy truck, so rocking the KO3 now.
Nice. Thanks for sharing. How are you finding reviews on my channel?
@@comparethetireJust discovered it. Following!!
Im really glad
The only bad thing about duratrac is sipping isn’t full depth which is huge after 25000km on snow and ice
Yes, I talked about it in detail in this next video, uploading as we speak.
Love Goodyear and Cooper, had DuraTrac made my truck shimmy, took them off and went with the BFG KO3's for security.
FYI Goodyear now owns Cooper (which owns Mickey Thompson)

Well noise factor is much better on the new KO3, especially compared to DuraTrac RT.

Goodyear DuraTrac is not a mud terrain tire. But I get what you're saying. A lot of folks were asking about this comparison actually...
